Quilt shops across the US and Canada are gearing up for this summer’s Row by Row Experience… and it all started right here at Calico Gals! Now the staff does double-duty running a quilt shop and organizing the biggest shop hop in the world! We are planning all sorts of fun for Calico Gals and love our beautiful new row pattern designed by Joan Ford!  10:30 am - 1:00 pm or 5:30 - 8:00 pm You found it the perfect quilt to use that Fat Quarter bundle that you've been saving! One fat quarter makes an entire vertical row and you can add as many rows as you want! It’s all done with one shape and there are no intersecting seams. Now that’s a great quilt! Fee: $25

How would you like to try machine appliqué? Join Patti, learn some new tricks and create a wallhanging or a pillow featuring a classic Celtic knot design. Bonus! Learn to insert a zipper into your pillow for a professional finish. Fee: $25

Black Eyed Susan Lap Quilt

with Julie Burger Wednesday July 22 1:30 - 4:30 pm or 5:30 - 8:30 pm Make a quilt the QUILTSMART way! Join the class and learn the tricks of the trade! Make a beautiful 57” x 71” snuggle-on-the-couch size quilt. It is easier that it looks with Quiltsmart! Feel free to leave the circle off the center to make a contemporary swirl design. The class will focus on block construction with time at the end of class to play with machine appliqué using a simple zigzag stitch. Your choice to play with a fancier stitch and create a different effect. Fee: $27

Towel Club

 The 2nd Friday of each month is a day of serging! Start, continue or finish your current project. Melissa will provide encouragement and advice. Receive a 15% class discount on materials needed that day to finish your project. S.O.S. is for you if you have attended Serger Relief with Melissa or can convince her you know your serger well. Any brand of serger is welcome. Bring something to share for lunch. Fee: $10 each class.

Have no fear! Join Lynn as she guides you through the steps of using precut strips to create the table runner that was one of the featured projects. Whirlwind with Lynn Schantz Monday August 17 10:30 am - 2:30 pm Take a look at this beautiful quilt block created from interesting angles. The stars just spin. Looks complicated, but it’s another one that uses the Scrap Crazy templates. The pieces are easy to cut and they fit together just perfectly. Learn the easy cutting and piecing techniques with Lynn. Make a few blocks for a table runner or keep going for a quilt! Fee: $30

Reversible Strippy Table Runner with Patti Blanchard
 Tuesday August 18 6:00 pm -8:00 pm
 This one is really clever! Sew all of your strips together and do the cutting for one side. The other side is made from your leftovers. Patti will show you how easy it really is! Perfect for those lastminute gifts. Fee: $25

 Classic and timeless, English Paper Piecing has been around forever and remains popular around the globe. Learn new updated techniques with Marcia that save on prep time. This hand stitching technique is great for the stitcher on the go, or fun to keep your hands busy while watching TV. Make this beautiful table runner with all handwork in the first class. Finish your homework in between and construct your table runner in class two. Fee: $25

 Everyone has a box of T-shirts they can’t part with, yet no longer wear. It’s the emotional attachment! Good news - these shirts make excellent quilts! Because they are knits, there are few tricks to working with them. Gay has made several T-shirt quilts and she is happy to share her techniques with you. Bring some shirts and turn them into pillows, quilts or even totes.This class will cover the basics of cutting, sewing and preparing T-shirts for a variety of projects. Basic sewing and cutting skills required. Fee: $20

 3 Mondays: September 14 & 28, & October 5 5:30 – 8:30 pm
 New to quilting? Or, just looking for a powerful refresher? Nina teaches the tips and techniques that you’ll need to begin your next project. In three sessions, become familiar with the basic steps of quilt construction, accurate rotary cutting, machine piecing, basting, machine quilting and binding while making a decorative table topper. By the end of the class, you’ll have the confidence to start your own quilt. Class includes discussion of fabric choice and preparation, threads, needles and much more. Fee: $45
