Hydrogen Technologies Brazil

T

Hytron was established as a spin-off company from the Hydrogen Laboratory in January 2004. Its main target is to offer advanced technologies on hydrogen production and energy systems by means of innovative solutions. Nowadays Hytron is developing and producing customized ethanol and natural gas reformers and water electrolysers. The company stands out for its technical and managerial capacities in the development of new technologies for hydrogen production for chemical and energy applications, and in the development of alternative energy systems such as distributed power generation and vehicular applications seeking higher efficiency and lower environmental impacts.

he State University of Campinas - is one of the main universities in Brazil, with approximately 1.750 professors, 16.000 graduate students and 16.800 undergraduate students. Nowadays, Unicamp is the site for three energy centers: The Hydrogen Laboratory (LH2) at the Institute of Physics; The Interdisciplinary Center for Energy Resources Planning (NIPE); and The Brazilian Reference Center of Hydrogen Energy (CENEH).

The Hydrogen Laboratory - LH2 was established in 1975 to conduct research and development activities in energy resources planning involving hydrogen from renewable energy sources; hydrogen production from water electrolysis, ethanol reforming and biomass gasification; gas analysis; safety; fuel cell applications; hydrogen for transportation.

The Brazilian Reference Center for Hydrogen Energy – CENEH operates in cooperation with the Hydrogen Laboratory at Unicamp. Its objectives are to promote the dissemination of developments on hydrogen energy uses, proposing and carrying out scientific and technological research in cooperation with other entities and promoting professional training in hydrogen technologies. CENEH currently cooperates with the Ministry of Science and Technology (MCT), the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) and the Brazilian Association for Technical Standards (ABNT), having participated in the design of the Brazilian Program of Science, Technology and Innovation for the Hydrogen Economy, the Brazilian Roadmap for the Hydrogen Economy and the normalization activities in hydrogen and fuel cells. CENEH is also the main organizer of the International Workshop on Hydrogen and Fuel Cells - WICaC which is held at Unicamp in every even year since 2002. Hydrogen purification system (LH2/Hytron)

Hytron’s team is highly qualified and multidisciplinary. It has been providing consultancy for projects and policy makers in order to help in the elaboration of public policies and roadmaps for the Hydrogen Economy in Brazil. Hytron also offers training on industrial gas production, applications, purification, transportation, compression and storage.
