CALL TO WORSHIP

Myra Houser

This is the day the Lord has made. Let us give thanks: For our ancestors in the faith, who have made this day of gathering with God’s people a reality. For our sisters and brothers in the faith, who are journeying with us toward new mercies every morning. For our sisters and brothers in the faith, with whom we share the hope and the joy we know in Christ who lives among us. Let us live as faithful stewards of both past and promise, blessing the ancient story and celebrating the new day together. Let us worship God!

B ECOMING D ISCIPLES BLESSING AND SENDING

Jason Smith and Myra Houser

Allyson In the rhythm of life within the beloved community, the church, we face the task of blessing and sending those who must leave us. Today we bless and send Myra Houser and Jason Smith as they prepare to move to Arkansas. Myra and Jason, as you prepare to leave us, we want to assure you of our love and support, and to offer you our blessing. To that end, we offer you these words of assurance and blessing: Carol Know that you are never alone. Remember the words of the Psalmist, who wrote: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Ps. 46:1). No matter where you go or what you experience, God is with you. Edgar Never forget who you are. You are part of God’s family and part of this church community. Be proud of who you are, and live your high calling as followers of Jesus Christ with courage and conviction. Laura Know that our prayers accompany you. Though you will be absent from us, we will hold you in our hearts. We send you out as representatives of this community of faith and of our Savior Jesus Christ. Allyson Let us pray. Gracious God, we ask your blessing upon Myra and Jason as they leave us to go to their next place of service. Watch over them, protect them, and assure them of your abiding presence in every situation. Grant them strength, courage, and peace in knowing that nothing can ever separate them from your love. We now send them forth with our blessing and with our prayer: ALL May the peace of God, which passes all understanding, keep your heart and mind in the knowledge and love of God and of Jesus Christ our Savior. And the blessing of Almighty God, Creator, Christ and Holy Spirit, be with you and remain with you always. Amen.
