How to be a True Christian Giver

How to be a True Christian Giver You cannot only measure Christian giving through the things and love you share with your family and neighbors. Do you know that the more generous you are, the more influential you become? As clearly stated in Psalm 112:9 NLT “They share freely and give generously to those in need. Their good deeds will be remembered forever. They will have influence and honor.” Generosity, either small or big, always leaves a mark not only to other people, but to yourself especially. Influence comes from what you give away, not from what you get in life. And do you know the biggest act of giving? When Jesus gave His life to save us from our sins and that’s the sole why we can never out-give God. Then, how to be a true Christian giver? Ponder upon these principles taken out of the New Testament:

Christian giving, a commandment from God. As stated in the first phrase of Matthew 6:2, Jesus said to His disciples, “when you give” not “if you give”. Jesus requires us to give every way we can everywhere and anytime. You should not give because someone told you to or you only want to impress, instead share because you love to and you aim happiness for others. To put it simply - give for the right reasons. Christian giving, charitable giving. Such principle reflects the message from Deuteronomy 14:28, "At the end of every third year you shall bring out all the tithe of your produce in that year, and shall deposit it in your town.” Another natural act a Christian should execute is give aid, charity and benevolent offerings to the needy. You must also share your blessings to the community specifically to the church. Christian giving extended to our heavenly Father. As we give our offering to the church, it’s a means of saying thank you to God the Father Almighty. As stated in Matthew 6:3-4, “But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” And remember that being grateful pleases God the most. Christian giving, an act of worship. Since giving to the church is a way of being grateful to our God; is then considered as an act of worship. See? It’s a very positive domino effect. Even from the beginning where Paul teaches Corinthians that the meaning of their collection is to worship God. This principle is stressed out in 1 Corinthians 16:2, “On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.” Christian giving and Lord’s giving to us. The liberality of God’s blessings to us has a connection to the liberality of our Christian giving. As what Paul said in 2 Corinthians 9:6, “Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.” Do you realize why Lord showers you with so many blessings? So that you can also give much to the community and to all the people who needs generosity. You should never hold back because your desire and means to give both come from God. Therefore, when you give because you love to and because you see God every time you do so that is the true Christian giving, a cheerful giving. The happiness you feel every event you share your blessings is a special delight towards God. Learn more how to be a true Christian giver. Join our community here at Calvary Road Baptist Church.
