LACROSSE

Calvert Lacrosse League - Bumblebees

September 15 - October 27, 2024 | Sunday Mornings

Co-ed | Ages 3 to 6 | Cost: $195

Calvert is excited to bring back our lacrosse league for our youngest athletes! The Bumblebees lacrosse program is a co-ed clinic designed to introduce basic lacrosse skills, movement, and hand-eye coordination.

Each session will consist of fun, age-appropriate drills, and five-on-five minigames. The first two sessions will be drill-based, and the remaining sessions will be a mix of drills and competitive game play.

When:

September 15 - October 27 (7 sessions)

Ages 3-4: 9:00 A.M. - 9:45 A.M.

Ages 5-6: 10:00 A.M. - 10:45 A.M.

What to Wear & Bring:

Children should wear comfortable athletic clothes and sneakers (no cleats) and bring their lacrosse stick, but Calvert will provide equipment if needed.

The program is led by Shure Shot Director Ian Shure, NCAA Division I national champion with the University of Virginia and two-time MIAA and high school national champion with Boys' Latin. Coach Shure has 20 years of coaching experience and has developed a program focused on teaching skills to even the youngest players.

Girls and Boys | Ages 7 to 10

Skills and Drills Clinics will focus on the following advanced skills: TECHNIQUE | REPETITION | UNDERSTANDING | EXECUTION

• Stickwork, footwork, dodging, and shooting.

• Fast-paced and high-intensity drills

• Settled and unsettled situations

• Proper communication

• Proper anticipation

• Hundreds of repetitions for each player

Girls:

Wednesday Evenings

September 18 - October 30 (7 sessions)

Ages 6-8: 4:45 P.M. - 5:30 P.M.

F.A.S.T. and T.R.U.E. Lacrosse Performance Training

& Skills

September 17 - October 29 | Tuesdays and/or Thursdays Boys in Grades 5 to 8 | Cost: $325 | Experience Required

F.A.S.T. Performance Training (Flexibility, Agility, Strength, Technique) and T.R.U.E Skills (Technique, Repetition, Understanding, Execution) have been designed for motivated and experienced lacrosse players in grades 5-8 looking for ways to increase productivity and efficiency on the field. In today’s competitive environment, it’s crucial to balance practice between situational game play and preparation for upcoming opponents. Equally important is the focus on building confidence and honing fundamental skills. Our program is designed to help each player identify and improve areas of their game that need attention, ensuring they are well-prepared and confident on the field.

• Comprehensive Development: Designed to meet the needs of focused studentathletes looking to excel in both academics and athletics.

• Foundation for Success: Offers a challenging curriculum and rewarding lacrosse experience, setting players on the path to becoming truly elite.

• Advanced Skills Training: Athletes will be introduced to complex skills and situations, utilizing indoor and outdoor field spaces to reinforce field sense and overall player-on-field sports IQ.

• Consistency and Continuity: Clear understanding of universal terminology to bridge the gap between “voices” or coaches they have.

• Real Game Simulation: Structured drills to simulate real game situations and practice opportunities to apply newly learned skills.

• Emphasis on Creativity: Encourages working outside comfort zones, fostering a love for the game, and building friendships through hard work toward common goals.

LACROSSE

Boys’ LAX Skills and Drills and Sixes-style Play

September 14 - October 26, 2024 | Saturdays

Boys | Ages 7 to 14 | Cost: $325

This program will combine skills and drills with Lacrosse Sixes-style play. Sixes is an incredibly fast-paced, compact version of lacrosse, combining the most exciting elements of the more traditional disciplines.

The program goals will focus on:

• 1v1 dodging and defending

• Transition drills

• Boosting confidence, motivation, and self-esteem for better performance

• Reinforces belief in potential and encourages creativity and playing free

Girls’ Middle School LIVE Lacrosse Training

October 7 - November 25, 2024 | Mondays | 6:30 P.M. - 8:00 P.M.

Girls | Grades 5 to 8 | Cost: $400

These 90-minute FAST-PACED COMPETITIVE SESSIONS are designed for experienced players and will follow a typical “practice” format.

Each session is divided into two parts: the first focuses on skill development —agility, stickwork, dodging, shooting, and footwork — while the second emphasizes competitive drills and scrimmaging. This structure ensures balanced improvement. There is a 14-player limit per group.

This program is led by Coach Webster, who started coaching on the collegiate summer camp circuit while in college and worked at camps up and down the East Coast every summer. He began as a volunteer coach in the early 2000s, when the first of his three daughters began playing for the Maryland Lacrosse Club and TLC Lacrosse Club. He was the head coach of the Sky Walkers Lacrosse Club 2021 Blue Team from 2017-2021 and has recently served as an assistant coach on the Bryn Mawr School Varsity team.

SOCCER

Calvert Soccer League - Bumblebees

SOCCER

Co-ed Skills and Drills

Co-ed | Ages 7 to 10 | Cost: $195

Players will work to develop basic skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, defending, and communication, which are the foundation of soccer and will help young players develop their physical fitness, agility, and coordination.

BASEBALL

Coach AB’s Fall Baseball Camp

October 7 - November 18, 2024 | Mondays | 5:00 P.M. - 6:15 P.M.

Co-ed | Ages 8 to 12 | Cost: $295

Coach AB will be offering a Fall Baseball Camp for players to learn new skills and fine tune techniques before the Spring Baseball season begins.

Stations will be set up after a warmup, and players can play intersquad games after week three.

1. Dynamic warm-up designed by former local MLB players

2. Players will be split up in groups based on age and ability. Skills targeted are as follows:

Proper throwing techniques for infielders and outfielders

Proper mechanics for young pitchers

Proper hitting instruction off a tee, soft toss and in Calvert’s amazing indoor batting cage

Proper baserunning drills

Coach AB has been coaching travel/club youth baseball for over 12 years. He also been coaching the Calvert Baseball program since 2016 winning back-to-back middle school championships (2022-24).

INTRO TO ATHLETICS

Intro to Athletics

September 14 - October 26, 2024 | Saturday Mornings

Co-ed | Ages 3 to 6 | Cost: $195

This program introduces children to a variety of sports including Lacrosse, Wiffle Ball, Soccer and other popular youth sports, teaching fundamentals and the general rules of game play. In addition, while exploring various sports, children hone key skills such as throwing, catching, kicking, and listening to and following directions.

Children will begin class with a fun obstacle course where they will build motor skills and balance.
