“PLAYING” WITH PLAY-DOH

Students will have so much fun and won’t even notice they are learning and improving fine motor skills. Each week there will be a theme and students will have the creative freedom to make what they would like. Students will experiment with making their own play-doh which will incorporate measuring, mixing and using different ingredients. This club is all about play based learning and is geared towards students in Fifth & Sixth Age who need a creative outlet after a long structured school day!
FRENCH CLUB

French Club is all about creativity and fun! All crafts, games, and activities will relate to the French culture and traditions. This club is only for Eighth Age students currently taking French class.
DANCE & MOVEMENT CLUB

Come join our fun-filled dance club where we will learn jazz, modern, ballet, cultural, improv, square dancing, line dancing, and more! This is a great way to get in some fun and creative movement and exercise while working on body awareness, rhythm, flexibility, coordination, and developing donfidence.

Master Quick

Students will work with Master Quick to learn a variety of skills through drills, routines, and “mat chart.” Skills include focus, balance, coordination, memory, discipline, control, stranger safety, confidence, sportsmanship, and listening.
PAINTING & ART CLUB

Come join our art club where we will do arts, crafts, painting, and more to create unique works of art! Some club days will follow step-by-step instruction, some will be a group project, and some days will allow the kids to create something entirely unique.
DIRECTED DRAWING & POTTERY CLUB

Everyone can be an artist! Join Directed Drawing & Pottery to discover your hidden talents! Directed Drawing is a powerful tool for enhancing students’ learning and creativity. By following these step-by-step instructions, kids will create drawings that explore their attention to detail and their spatial awareness while continuing to develop their listening and fine motor skills! Pottery will help build students’ hand coordination, problem solving skills, and creativity! I can’t wait to see you there!
YOGA ADVENTURES

We are “Enchanted” to invite you to be part of The Swiftie Squad, a Taylor Swift fan club. We are going to go on a grand adventure each week as we travel back in time through 17 years of music one era at a time. We will have “The Best Day” making awesome crafts, making friendship bracelets, and of course, singing and dancing!

LEGO CLUB

Here at Calvert, the “Lego Club” is a wonderful way for Seventh and Eighth Age students to work together as architects and engineers! Students will be interacting and working on social skills as they complete buildings challenges, work together to build models, and develop and reinforce their play and social skills. Some of the challenges will include building a Lego bridge, forming Lego words and numbers, and free building based on color! It is a great time for old and new friends to come together to build and create.
CALVERT COMIC CLUB

Are you a fan of comic books? Do you like to draw or sketch your own characters? Have you ever wanted to make your own comic book? IF you answered “Yes!” to any of these questions, join Calvert’s Comic Club with Ms. D’Andrea on Wednesday afternoons to write, draw, and publish your own comic book.

BOOK WRITING AND PUBLISHING

In this club, students will work together to write and illustrate a picture book and have it published through Student Treasures. Students should be prepared to work together with guidance. A group photo will be provided for the author page of the book, and each student will receive a copy of the published book.
FOLK DANCING CLUB

Join Ms. Florian for dancing fun! We will do-si-do, sashay, and swing our partners while learning folk dances from all around the world. Some favorite dances from music class will be included, along with lots of brand-new dances and exclusively for Folk Dancing Club!
LEADERSHIP CLUB

This club is dedicated to empowering the next generation of leaders by building essential leadership skills, fostering positive character traits, and inspiring community action. Students will embark on a journey of self-discovery and growth through read-alouds, engaging activities, discussions, and projects designed to cultivate leadership skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making. Students will hear from leaders in our Calvert community about integrity, empathy, resiliance, and responsibility and how these qualities contribute to effective leadership.

CHESS CLUB
Magnus Chess Academy Coaches

Learn chess with Magnus Academy, five-time world champion Magnus Carlsen’s academy! We’ve taught 100,000 children to play including state & national champions, but most students are beginners looking to learn a new skill and have FUN. Class time is divided between lessons and practice games. Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies.
SQUASH

Learn the basics of squash on our courts with Squash Pro Patrick Bedore. Students will get the opportunity to play squash and learn the correct fundamentals of grip, swing, and movement. All materials are included; students will need to wear non-marking shoes on the courts.
