Cooperative Education
At the College of Arts, Media and Design, learning extends beyond the walls of the classroom, studio, and lab. Experiential learning integrates the classroom and the real world through research, service, and our signature cooperative education (co-op) program, which helps our students gain professional experience, explore potential career paths, and enrich their academics. Co-op offers professional experience unlike any internship. With over 3000 co-op employer relationships in 128 countries, students can explore careers across the United States or abroad. Our co-op faculty coordinators guide students as they research and apply to positions, interview with employers, and accept offers. In most cases, positions are full-time, paid employment related to a student’s interests and/or career goals. During their time at Northeastern, students can complete up to three six-month co-ops (depending on their course of study), giving them up to 18 months of professional work experience before graduation.
