Camden County understands that the adornments you place at your loved one’s paver is there to help you honor and remember them. To maintain the integrity of the area, we need to clean the site and remove objects and soiled flowers on a rotating basis. This is in no way being done out of disrespect to you or your loved one. While we sympathize, and understand wanting to place something at their paver for remembrance, we ask that you do not adhere anything with tape or burn wax candles, they are damaging the finish of the pavers and the Overdose Ribbon.
Sponsored by the Camden County Board of Commissioners and the Camden County Addiction Awareness Task Force

The Camden County Addiction Awareness Taskforce was created in 2014 to address the devastating impact of substance use disorder on families throughout Camden County. Working closely with municipalities, health care institutions, social service organizations, law enforcement, prosecutors, Camden County Jail and other community stakeholders, the taskforce provides programs to increase awareness, prevent, and treat addiction. In addition, we are trying to create an environment in which all can obtain a sustained recovery. Through the passionate work of hundreds of committed individuals, the many programs created have helped countless individuals and families. The AATF distributed over 45,000 pieces of educational literature throughout the county, held community awareness and educational events with over 12,000 attendees, and worked with local municipalities and law enforcement to expand access to medication drop boxes and implemented Project S.A.V.E. (Substance Abuse Visionary Effort) - bridging the gap between those arrested for substance abuse related charges. Nearly 7000 referrals were made into the program with almost 900 assessed and entering treatment. The taskforce also hosts REAL Sports (Recovery, Encouragement, Athletic, League) which offers basketball, yoga, and golf at the Camden County driving range. The taskforce’s naloxone collaboration training program has equipped residents with overdose prevention kits. Our local health systems are key partners ensuring law enforcement agencies in Camden County are supplied with this life saving treatment. Since 2015, above 15,000 saves were made by Emergency Medical Services and Law Enforcement. We have Certified Prevention Recovery Specialists (CPRS) working in homeless shelters and with residents in Sober Living Environments to engage folks into treatment and assist them once they leave. The Office of Mental Health & Addiction received a grant from the NJ Department of Health to create an Overdose Fatality Review Team (OFRT). This team meets once a month to review cases with the goal of establishing policies to further reduce overdoses in the county.
Since 2020, a new rehabilitation center opened, The Recovery Village at Cooper in Cherry Hill. The County also received a grant to provide enhanced medication assisted treatment. Two additional methadone programs opened in the last few years which increases access to care. The Office of Mental Health Staff are working with Camden County Metro, New Jersey Transit, & the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office to further engage persons with substance use disorder and link them directly with treatment. The County received an Innovation Grant which is covers the cost of suboxone for any eligible uninsured resident unable to obtain it. There are many opportunities for recovery. We have the largest state funded recovery center in South Jersey in Voorhees. They are providing nearly 7000 groups and meetings annually. Camden County now has 38 sober living environments with the capacity to serve nearly 400 people at any one time. HALO, our Healing after Loss to an Overdose program is providing ‘in-person’ grief support once weekly. The Office remained open through Covid19. The taskforce and all of its partners are determined to reduce overdoses and fatalities across the county. In 2018, there were 3069 naloxone incidents. So far, in 2021, there were 916 from January through June. Still daunting and difficult, however, it is because of all the work of the taskforce and our partners, we see hope! If you or a loved one needs help, please call our 24/7 toll-free confidential hotline at (877) 266-8222. For additional information and services, contact the Camden County Office of Mental Health and Addiction at (856) 374-6361 or visit CamdenCounty.com Together, let’s continue to erase stigma and advocate for change.
