B.O.A.T. Exam
If you own or operate a boat you are probably already required to have a Pleasure Craft Operator (PCO) Card. All operators born after April 1, 1983, as well as anyone operating a power-driven pleasure craft under four metres (including PWCs), are presently required to have a PCO card while operating a boat. The exam-only option is available for boaters that wish to challenge the course. Call the Information Hotline at 287-9234 to make an appointment. It is recommended that you read the study guide before taking the exam. Registrants are required to obtain 75% on the test in order to pass.

➲ About the Power of Sport
Sport has the power to reduce crime, foster character and citizenship, introduce newcomers to their communities, stimulate the local economy, provide adult mentorship for young people, teach kids important life lessons and strengthen community connectedness. Unfortunately, sport participation is on the decline in our country. Over the past two decades, sport participation rates in Canadian youth aged 15 to 18 dropped from 77% to 59% - and in adults, from 45% to 28%. Over half of Canadian adults are considered inactive, and only 7% of our children and youth are active enough to meet Canada's Physical Activity Guidelines.
➲ Jersey Day - Friday, September 28
Back again as a popular part of the Sports Day celebrations, Friday, Sept. 28 is a national day to show your love and support for sport by wearing a jersey, team or club uniform to school, work or play. From municipal council chambers to the National Capital to news desks, office buildings and classrooms across the nation, we envision a sea of Canadians wearing their hearts on their sleeves on national Jersey Day.
