Baseboards, chair rails & company When planning renovations in your home, it’s important to think about paneling and mouldings. First of all a choice must be made between those mouldings which can be painted to blend in with the colour scheme of a room and those made of wood to give a warmer and more natural aspect to any home.

Ceiling moulding or crown moulding is installed at the junction of the wall and ceiling to create a decorative finish. Installation of crown moulding is more complicated than other types of mouldings and requires meticulous preparations and numerous measurements. The most important factor to remember when installing crown mouldings is that a 90 ° angle has to be ensured; this type of moulding cannot be adapted to other angles.

How to transform long, boring hallways A long, dark hallway leading to some bedrooms and a bathroom… many homes have them. They are a vestige from the 1960’s and 70’s and, in the decades since, have been a real headache to redecorate. Here are a few tips to help you reduce that long, boring look.

Candles could also be used on every other step or choose wall lights. This type of lighting creates a dramatic effect when installed at the base of the wall, all the way up the stairs. A hint of colour Whether the stairs are in wood, metal, stone or concrete, the colour of the walls must be in perfect harmony with the rest of the house. Neutral shades are ideal for creating a feeling of equilibrium.
