Our camps offer a unique life experience

designed to help girls discover and develop themselves. Within a safe and supportive environment, girls participate in activities that develop skills, build self-esteem, and provide a sense of accomplishment. The programs are intentionally designed to be appropriate to the age, interests, and abilities of the campers. What makes our camps so special is the connection experienced with new friends, rich traditions and history, the support of a trained staff, and outdoor experiences that provide progression, challenge, and fun, all in a place JUST FOR GIRLS!

Organized resident camps run by full-time and seasonal Council Staff members. Girls attend as an individual, not with their troop or parents (except for family camp). Bothin, Skylark Ranch, and Sugar Pine are all Council-Run camps.

VOLUNTEER-RUN CAMP

Day and resident camps run by volunteers and held at community locations throughout Northern California. Parents can often attend with their daughter in exchange for helping in different areas of the camp operation.

FAMILY CAMP

Bring the family and come to camp for your next vacation! Girl Scouts of Northern California offers affordable options for families to play and camp together at Bothin, Skylark Ranch, and Sugar Pine.

LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS

Older girls, 9th grade and up, can have the opportunity to gain Counselor and/or Activity Leader skills through training and hands-on experience in a day or resident camp setting. Many camps offer leadership programs that range from beginning Program and Camp Aide to multiple levels of Counselor-In-Training or Wrangler-In-Training. Take Your Summer Adventure to the Next Level! The fun, the friendships, the adventure, the self-discovery—it’s all here at our Council-Run resident camps in Northern California. Bothin, Skylark Ranch, and Sugar Pine each offer unique and exciting summer programs for all interests. Whether a girl is a first time or experienced camper, there is something special here for her! All of our camps also offer family camp programs. Overnight sessions for girl programs range from 4 – 13 days. To lead our programs we hire staff members who are committed to creating a caring and supportive environment that respects each child as an individual and allows them to feel good about who they are. All staff members must be at least 18 yeas old and pass a thorough background check. In addition, all staff members receive an extensive, multi-day training prior to supervising campers. The ratio of unit staff to campers is 1:6 for 5 – 8 year olds and 1:8 for all other camper groups.

Resident Camp BENEFITS OF RESIDENT CAMP The benefits of a resident camp experience come from

the extended time that girls participate in their program. It is a wonderful way for girls to increase their self-reliance and independent living skills by living away from home. Girls also enhance their socialization skills as they live and interact with girls from all over Northern California. The extended time at resident camp also allows for enhanced skill development in activities. With positive, adult role models and a friendly, supportive environment, girls can have a truly enriching summer experience.

A TYPICAL DAY AT CAMP

The daily schedule for each camp will vary according to the unit activities planned. Some activities will be with just the units and some will involve the entire camp. Most days begin with waking up around 7 a.m., followed by breakfast at 8 a.m. Lunch is served at midday and dinner is at 6 p.m. Program activities occur in the morning, afternoon, and early evening. “Lights out” for campers varies according to age but is usually between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m.

THE CAMP PROGRAM

At our resident camps, girls live in a unit with an average of 12 – 24 other campers who have registered for the same program and are of a similar grade in school. The unit participates as a group in activities throughout the session. Unit programs range from a sampling of camp activities, such as in our Sea Stars program at Skylark Ranch, to specialty units such as horseback riding, surfing, caving or theater arts. Campers in specialty programs spend extra time in activities related to their theme. Every unit program, regardless of the focus, includes a variety of general camp activities such as outdoor cooking, arts and crafts, songs, stargazing, hiking or swimming. General activities available vary with each camp. Campfires, theme meals, talent shows, carnivals, and other all-camp events that bring everyone together will be held throughout the session. Note: Campers in 1st – 3rd-grade or 2nd – 4th-grade programs do not participate in archery or high ropes/climbing activities. This applies to family camp as well.

CAMP ACCREDITATION All Council-Run camps are accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). ACA is a national organization that sets high standards for the health and safety of campers and staff and for the delivery of quality programs.

Program Highlights

Be an “Artist in Residence” and let your imagination soar, get tinkering and be a Maker or join the Bothin Theatre Company and find out if you like to be on the stage or calling the shots behind the scenes. Hop a ferry across the Bay, climb through the trees on our amazing Adventure Course, or discover the world of animals, it’s all here waiting for you! Swimming, outdoor cooking, campfires under starry skies, and magical days with new friends will round out your experience. Bothin provides an enriching atmosphere for girls to explore their own interests, find their strengths, and learn from each other. Together, staff and campers build a close-knit community that empowers girls and encourages them to shine. With fun-filled days and memories to last a lifetime, Bothin is the place for you!

Transportation is NOT provided to or from Bothin. Check in is from 2 – 3 p.m. on the first day of each session. The closing ceremony will start at 11 a.m. on the last day of each camp session. Grades 1 – 3 Sessions 1B, 1C, 2C Fee $385 Everything you like to do and more! Swim in the pool, have fun at the art barn, dress up in costumes, dig in the garden, have a cookout and go on a special adventure to find the hidden fairy steps. Let your imagination take flight and create your own set of fairy wings and wands. Then put on a party with your new camp friends and dance under the twinkling stars. The magic of camp is waiting for you!

Grades 2 – 4 Sessions 1B, 1E, 2C Fee $385 Bunnies, Birds and Bears, oh my! What’s your favorite animal? Discover how different animals live and play and have fun in art when you make wild animal masks or amazing critter collages. Hang out with the Bothin chickens and even make your own Bothin Teddy Bear. Learn the Teddy Bear Waltz and song, and dance the days away with all your new friends—bears included!

Grades 2 – 4 Session 1E Fee $405 A spoonful of sugar, a dash of friendship, and a cup of laughter are the ingredients for a delicious time at camp! Learn the basics of baking and make scrumptious snacks or a yummy dessert. Decorate cupcakes and plan a party to share your creations. Design your own cooking apron too.

Grades 4 – 6 Sessions 1B, 1C, 1E, 1F, 2D Fee $385 Session 2A Fee $560 Sessions 1A, 1D Fee $595 Step into the world of summer fun and help create your own camp adventure. You and your group will choose many of your activities throughout the week. So what will it be? Climb the giant cargo net and soar through the trees on the zip line, splash in the pool, get creative at the art barn, try your hand at archery, harvest the garden or cook tasty treats over a campfire. It’s all here for you! You and your new friends will catch some summer fun and have the time of your life!

Grades 4 – 6 Session 1C Fee $405 Mix outdoor cooking fun with lots of tasty treats and you’ll have a sweet time at camp! Make chocolate fondue over a campfire and berry cobbler in a dutch oven. Bake colossal cookies in a box oven and then decorate them with your signature look. Have a blast with new friends and enjoy all that Bothin offers too. Yummy!

Grades 4 – 6 Sessions 1D, 2B Fee$645 Are you crazy about animals? Then it’s off on a safari adventure for you! Head to the Oakland Zoo where you’ll team up for a special expedition in search of unique animals, from amazing Pachyderms to exotic Island Flying Fox Bats. Meet some “hip hop” friends from SaveABunny, a local rabbit rescue organization. Round out your safari with an exciting overnight at the Aquarium of the Bay in San Francisco! Have fun with new friends as you learn about aquatic critters, then fall asleep under the crystal clear tunnels of the Aquarium as thousands of fish, including sharks, skates and bat rays swim overhead. It’s an awesome animal adventure waiting for you!

Monkey Business

Grades 4 – 6 Sessions 1A, 1D, 2B Fee $625 Have you ever wanted to swing through the trees like a monkey? Here’s your chance to climb, hang, and zip through the air on the exciting Bothin adventure course. Spend time each day challenging yourself on different elements. Will you conquer the triple stack or vertical playpen to reach the sky bench above the trees? Or will you scale the giant cargo net tunnel to get to the zip line? At the end of the day, relax around the campfire and make tasty treats like banana boats with your new friends.

Shoot for the Stars

Grades 4 – 6 Session 2A Fee $560 Get ready for an adventure that’s out of this world when you mix archery and astronomy for some real cosmic fun! Spend extra time at the archery range, practice your skills then have fun in a special archery tournament. Search for constellations in the night sky, explore camp on a night hike and shoot glow-in-the-dark archery. Have a sleep out in the meadow with your new camp friends and watch for shooting stars to make a wish on while you stargaze the night away. Amazing!

Fire Crackers!

Grades 4 – 6 Session 2A Fee $560 Session 2B Fee $595 Snap, crackle and pop! Get ready for your camp adventure to explore with summer fun! Scale the triplestack on the adventure course to reach the treetop canopy, shoot archery, build crazy rafts, star search the night sky, spark your imagination in art, and so much more. It’s something new and different every day. Spend extra time learning different ways to cook over a fire and make yummy treats with your new camp friends. Help plan a torchlight pool party too!

Artisans

Grades 5 – 8 Session 1D Fee $595 Painting, sculpting, sketching, and many other art mediums will fill this imaginative week at camp. Take a trip to the de Young art museum in San Francisco for inspiration in your self expression. Then let your creative side come to life as you paint a masterpiece, make a mosaic, or glaze bisque ware to fire in a kiln. Make your own template for a custom silk screened shirt too! Display your creations in a special art show for all the camp to see.

Bay TRippers

Grades 6 – 9 Sessions 1A, 2B Fee $645 Each day is a new trip around the bay! Ride the ferry to Angel Island and take in the view while flying kites on the beach. Travel through Marin Headlands to Point Bonita Lighthouse and visit the Marine Mammal Center before heading back to camp. Try your hand at stand up paddle boarding on Tomales Bay, and spend the day in the sun at Chicken Ranch Beach along the west shore. Tee off at a local miniature golf course with your friends. The adventure continues as you make a splash at the pool, sleep under the stars, shoot some arrows on the archery range, hang out with your new friends and so much more!

H.I.P.

Grades 6 – 10 Session 1F Fee $385 Hike, Imagine, and Play—your way! In this fun and exciting four-day program just for older girls, you and your group will design your own camp experience. What to do? Get creative in the art barn, swim in the pool, plan a flashmob, take a twilight hike, or maybe hang from the trees on the high ropes adventure course. Try a little bit of everything and just be H.I.P.

Summer Retreat

Grades 4 – 6 Session 2A Fee $560 Let out your inner girl power while pampering yourself at camp! Express yourself with cool new hair wraps and develop your own line of homemade facial and sugar scrubs. Create lip gloss and lotion from eco-friendly ingredients. Show your own unique style as you accessorize with jewelry that you design. Create a refreshing summertime fruit cooler drink and relax around the glow of the campfire with your new camp friends!

Grades 6 – 9 Session 2A Fee $595 Session 1A Fee $630 Step into your very own summer getaway and enjoy all that Bothin has to offer! Climb to the top of the adventure Course, express yourself in the art barn, aim for the bulls-eye in archery and discover breathtaking views of the Bay from the top of the Skyline trail. Then hang out with all your new friends on an overnight at the Pt. Reyes youth hostel. Explore the lighthouse, search for tule elk or elephant seals and relax around your beach bonfire under starry skies. It’s the perfect summer retreat!

Grades 5 – 7 Session 2A Fee $560 Get Outdoors and use your code-cracking detective skills to solve the mystery! Hike the Bothin Adventure Trail to find the location of hidden messages and secret maps and work together to solve puzzles and riddles. Clues might be anywhere, from the sky bench at the top of the ropes course to a bulls eye at the archery range. Use GPS devices for some “high tech” orienteering to find more answers too. Twists and turns at every corner will keep you and your new friends guessing as you enjoy all the fun of Bothin and the great outdoors too!

Soarin’

Grades 5 – 8 Sessions 1A, 2B Fee $645 Soar over the waves on Lake Merritt and sail through the air on the zip line when you bring two of your favorite camp thrills together! In a one-of-a-kind experience on the water, grab your teammates and paddle a 25 person dragon boat across the lake. Back at camp, work together to anchor your friends as they climb the triple stack dynamic elements of the adventure course. Then try your hand at the Great Zip Line Target Drop—how high will you score? Add swimming, archery, raft building, time with new friends and much more. You’ll be soarin’ through summer fun and adventure in no time!

Grades 6 – 10 Session 2A Fee $660 Session 1D Fee $695 Get “On Belay” when you climb into a week-long adventure challenge on the exciting Bothin adventure course. Spend time everyday setting goals and conquering the elements. Work with your teammates to scale the triple stack, climb the giant cargo net backwards, and fly through the trees on the zip line. Round out your week with an amazing Eco Canopy Tour in Sonoma where you will soar through the treetops on seven zip lines!

Movie Makers

Grades 7 – 12 Session 2B Fee $605 Lights! Camera! Action! Direct and produce your own short camp documentary with an outdoor spin. Will you scale to the top of the ropes course to capture your teammates flying off the zipline? Or be inspired by the birds of Bothin or the view from the tree-top canopy? Shoot your footage and learn some basic editing. With your fellow film crew, create a team DVD to show to friends and family. Let the cameras roll!

BOTHIN THEATRE COMPANY

Immerse yourself in the world of performance art! Campers in these programs will explore and practice different aspects of theater production within a program theme. From acting, singing, dancing, and improvisation to make-up, set design, technical support, and more. All groups will work toward a special performance at the end of their session. Campers will also have time to enjoy other fun activities from swimming, outdoor cooking, and arts and crafts, to exploring the organic garden, games, campfires, and much more!

Star Girls

Grades 2 – 4 Sessions 1F, 2D Fee $405 Take the stage and shine like the star that you are! Have fun with skits, dance, costumes, make-up, special effects and more. Then be part of the opening act for the BIG Off Broadway performance where all of camp can see you and your new friends light up the stage.

Keep the Beat!

Grades 4 – 6 Session 2A Fee $580 It’s all about that song and dance when you and your new friends enjoy a smash hit of summer fun. From kick-lines and free-style moves to belting out all the songs you love to sing, your Bothin adventure will come to life! Plan a flash mob and WOW the crowd with all your dance moves and create a music video too. Then grab the mic and have a karaoke party to sing and dance the night away.

Off Broadway

Grades 5 – 8 Session 1 Fee $840 Grades 8 – 12 Session 2 Fee$840 It’s Showtime! From auditions to the final bow, work with your group to put on a complete musical production. Participate in daily rehearsals, design sets, create costumes, and learn about all aspects of a Broadway show. Attend a local theatrical performance and learn more about professional stage work too. At the end of your session, present your production to all of camp. Parents and friends are welcome to attend and can join you for a special “cast party” following the performance. Just hear that applause!

Camp MakeHERS

Become a true Maker in an amazing creative adventure JUST for girls! Our Bothin resident camp in Marin will transform into a marvelous Maker space for this special tinkering experience. With new camp friends by your side, let your imagination soar each day as you explore, design, build, and re-design projects using everything from electronics and robotics to fashion and more. Have fun getting messy, getting inspired and getting the chance to see your ideas come to life. Round out your Maker adventure by enjoying all the fun camp has to offer from swimming, hiking, crafts and outdoor cooking to campfires under starry skies. It’s the best of all worlds—Let’s get Making!

Apprentice Makers

Grades 2 – 5 July 24 – July 27 Fee $665 July 27 – July 30 Fee $665 Spark your imagination, grab your maker supplies and get ready for lots of creative fun. What will you and your new friends build to use in the outdoors? Something that spins, shakes, and glows in the dark? Get curious as you play and create. Anything goes! Games in the pool, hikes, the low challenge course and s’mores around the campfire will make this an amazing adventure. Discover your maker power and be a real inventor!

Wizard Makers

Grades 5 – 10 July 24 – July 30 Fee $1200 Put your Maker skills to the test! Use power tools, sewing machines, soldering irons, and Arduinos to create something fun and useful in the outdoors. Spend time each day working on your special project. Take a break from making to have fun climbing through the trees on the adventure course, shooting archery, or swimming in the pool. Showcase your maker projects to your family and friends in our Mini Maker Faire at the end of the session. Note: Transportation is not provided for this camp.

Mentor younger girls in a camp setting as you build skills toward becoming a camp counselor or riding specialist. The Counselor in Training (C.I.T.) and Wrangler in Training (W.I.T.) programs are by application only. A description of the levels and the process can be found on camprocks.org.

Mermaid’s Lagoon

Grades 2 – 4 Sessions 1C, 1D, 3A Fee $395 Spend a long summer day at Skylark’s very own beach lagoon. While at the beach, enjoy playing games and building sand castles for mermaids near the shimmering waves. Explore the tide pools where other sea creatures spend their days. Visit Fern Grove to build a fairy house, have fun with arts and crafts, meadow games, and more.

Sea Stars

Grades 4 – 6 Sessions 1C, 1D, 2C, 3A Fee $395 Sessions 1A, 4A, 4B Fee $570 Session 3B Fee $610 Explore all that Skylark Ranch has to offer in this cool summer fun program! Discover new sea critters in the tide pools while hanging out with friends on the beach. Make a watercolor masterpiece from your oceanside experience. Spend the afternoon shooting archery and swinging on the low or high ropes course. With skits around the campfire to time with new friends, a great summer adventure awaits you!

Firefly

Grades 4 – 6 Sessions 2D, 3A Fee $395 Build a campfire with your new friends and cook some tasty treats in the great outdoors. Fly through the air on the nitro swing in the challenge course and the Flying Squirrel on the high ropes course. Set off on a camp-wide adventure scavenger hunt, sing songs with friends, and have an outdoor overnight under a blanket of stars.

Summer Magic

Grades 7 – 12 Session 3A Fee $395 It’s a quick getaway to experience the outdoors, activities, and magic of Skylark Ranch. Create a unique work of art, hang out at the beach, cook gourmet goodies over a campfire, try your hand at archery, or experience the thrill of the high ropes course. It’s four days of fun and new friends just waiting for you!

Archers Adventure

Grades 5 – 7 Session 2A Fee $595 Become an archery legend! Ready your arrows, take aim, and shoot. Strive to be the best archer in the land and enhance your archery skills in the sport of archery. Make your own arrows, targets, arm guards, and more. Play creative shooting games and take an exciting trip to a local field archery range to experience a whole new world of archery. Note: Some archery experience necessary.

Farmtastic!

Grades 5 – 7 Session 4A Fee $605 Ever wonder what it would be like to live on a farm? Join us and find out! Meet the goats at Harley Farms. Take a hands-on tour at Swanton Berry Farms where you’ll pick organic berries to make a delicious jam. Visit the farm stand at Pie Ranch to gather fresh local ingredients to bake a pie in an outdoor oven around the campfire. Spend your nights back at camp hosting whimsical parties full of treats and delights you’ve made from the farm.

Beach Boogie

Grades 5 – 7 Sessions 1A, 4B Fee $595 Sand, surf, and sun are waiting for you. Spend a day cruisin’ the waves in Santa Cruz on a boogie board. Back on land, explore the tide pools at Skylark’s beach, play games in the sand at Bean Hollow beach, and participate in our Annual Sand Castle Contest! Plan a dance party for other campers and boogie the night away.

Summer Sleuths

Enjoy the pristine beauty of the coastal redwood forest from the unique perspective only a sky-high adventure like this can offer. Back at camp, scale the elements of the high ropes course and learn basic climbing knots. Surf’s Up

Grades 8 – 12 Session 4 Fee $925 It’s the ultimate seven day road trip with your friends along Highway 1. Have fun cruising in your kayak along the shores of Fisherman’s Wharf and Cannery Row in Monterey. Spend the day exploring the trails and sights of Big Sur. EQUESTRIAN PROGRAMS

Beginning Riding

Skylark Ranch offers quality riding school instruction in a summer camp setting. Our program features beginning to advanced lessons in both English and Western riding. Emphasis in all program levels is on skill development, progression, and expanding knowledge of horses and horse care. Campers receive a riding assessment on the first day of camp and are placed in riding classes based on their skill level. Campers unable to meet requirements may be placed in an alternate program. Classes are kept small with a ratio of at least one instructor to six campers. *Maximum weight of participants is 225lbs.

(English OR Western) Grades 2 – 4 Sessions 2C, 2D, 3A Fee $495 Take part in two riding lessons, a vaulting lesson, and learn about how to take care of your horse! Campers will get to try Western OR English styles.

Vaulting

Gymnastics on horseback! This is sure to bring out the stunt rider in you and help develop balance and riding position. Practice your moves on a barrel horse first. Then, with an assisted mount, show off your skills on horseback!

Finding the correct riding program for your daughter is important not only for the quality of her program but for her own safety. To help you select the program that would best suit your daughter, review the levels of the Equestrian Programs offered and their descriptions. ALL skills listed for the chosen style of riding need to be met consistently to qualify for that riding program. Swimming, dancing, arts and crafts, campfires, hiking, outdoor cooking, the high ropes adventure course, archery, and special themed events are waiting for you. And don’t forget the special Wishing Tree Ceremony at the end of the weekend. It’s a camp tradition you won’t want to miss! Adults must be at least 18 years old. Add some adventure with a trip to Moaning Caverns to experience a 1,500’ dual zip line, enjoy an afternoon of kayaking on beautiful Lake Alpine, or have fun on a visit to a nearby Old Western Mining town in Colombia State Park. Leadership Programs

HORSEBACK RIDING All campers at Sugar Pine have one horseback ride during their session (Climb & Ride, Rockin’ Horse and Mountain Do! campers have additional rides). For this activity, the maximum weight allowed is 225lbs. These horseback riding experiences will either be a lesson in the arena or a trail ride, depending on the skills and abilities of the camper groups. The Riding Staff at camp determine if a trail ride will take place. To add to the fun, all campers have the chance to help feed and care for the Sugar Pine herd!

SIERRA FUN PROGRAMS Jamboree!

Grades 2 – 4 Sessions 2B, 4A, 4B Fee $395 A jamboree of summer fun just for you! In this special four-day program, you can get a real taste of camp life. Gold Rush Girlz

Grades 5 – 7 Session 2, 3A Fee $635 All that glitters, sparkles, and shines is waiting for you! Start your gold rush adventure with a trip to Mercer Caverns where you’ll tour the cave, and mine for gems like emeralds and moon stones in a mining sluice. Stake your claim at Columbia State Park, a living restored gold rush town, and learn to pan for gold. Back at camp, head to the Art Barn to create a piece of jewelry with the treasure you find. Round out your gold rush days with a mystery adventure at Colombia, when you search for clues to solve a real case that happened in the Old West.

Secret Agent

Grades 5 – 8 Sessions 1A, 3B Fee $570 Your mission, should you choose to accept it… Be Secret Agent: Sugar Pine! Your training will have you completing riddle relays, breaking codes, and mastering the art of disguise. Grades 5 – 8 Sessions 1A, 3B Fee $570 Explore the WILD side of Sugar Pine! Learn wilderness techniques and survival skills that will give you a truly amazing outback adventure. Discover how to track animals, cook outdoors, make your own tools, build a geodome fort, lash chairs and tell time by the sun. Search for hidden parts of camp using a map and compass and try your hand at timber tossing to safely store your food. The thrill of the wilderness is waiting for you!

Alpine Adventure

Grades 7 – 12 Sessions 2, 3A, 4 Fee $670 Let the adventure begin! Challenge yourself with extra time on our high ropes adventure tower. Experience the fun and challenge of the vertical playpen, the climbing wall, or the horizontal ladder and soar through the air on the zip line. Take your Alpine Adventure to another level by flying across a canyon on a duel 1,500-foot zip line at Moaning Caverns. Your adventure continues when you head out on a special lake trip, such as swimming in an underground cave at Natural Bridges or swimming to the islands at Lake Utica. Awesome! Note: Campers must weigh between 70 and 250 lbs.

Grades 8 – 12 Session 4 Fee $790 How adventurous are you? Grab your paddle and become part of a team as you spend 2 days rafting on the American River with qualified, experienced guides. Your group will camp out underneath the stars, explore the rapids, work together, and discover the adventurous spirit in each of you! Everyone back at camp will be waiting to hear about your amazing river adventure. Note: Girls in the program must be able to swim face down in deep water.

In the spirit of the American road trips, discover the highways and bi-ways of Back Roads California on a week-long excursion with new friends. Trip A

Grades 8 – 12 Session 1 Fee $925 Start your journey at beautiful Ebbett’s Pass and connect to the epic Pacific Crest Trail for a scenic day hike. Relax overnight at Grover Hot Springs, before hitting the road to Lake Tahoe for a day at the beach and a kayak excursion. The adventure continues as you take to the treetop adventure park at Granlibakken for an amazing ropes course experience. Then raft your way back towards Sugar Pine on a day long white water rafting trip.

Grades 8 – 12 Session 3 Fee $925 Nothing starts a good road trip like flying through the forest on an amazing canopy zip line tour. See the Sierra National Forest from the tree tops then hop in the saddle for a horse ride over scenic mountain trails. Grades 7 – 12 Session 1B Fee $695 An underground adventure awaits you! Enter the crystal-filled caves at Mercer Caverns to see a beautiful subterranean wonderland. On this spelunking trek, view amazing calcite formations, rootsicles and stalactites. Then take a swim in an underground cave at Natural Bridges State Park. The adventure continues when you rappel 16 stories down in a cave at Moaning Caverns and crawl through tunnels on a guided spelunking tour. Back on the surface, you and your camp friends will enjoy all the fun Sugar Pine has to offer. Note: Campers must be at least 12 years old, at least 4 feet tall and weigh a minimum of 100 lbs.

Grades 7 – 12 Sessions 1A, 3B Fee $695 Grab a paddle and hit the water for some lake and river fun. Enjoy a kayak tour on the beautiful waters of Lake Alpine. Then take on the challenge of some exciting Class 4 rapids on a half-day rafting trip on the Stanislaus or American River. Keep your adventure going when you spend extra time on the adventure tower. And team-up with new camp friends to build signature rafts to launch at a nearby lake. Paddle on! Note: Campers in this program must be able to swim face down in deep water.

Shoot the Rapids

Grades 8 – 12 Session 1 Fee $750 Take the Aerial Treetop Challenge! Your adventure begins by spending extra time on the Adventure Tower.Develop your belay skills and take the lead as your fellow campers climb on the high ropes course. Take a special trip to the aerial climbing adventure park at Granlibakken near Lake Tahoe. Ascend to your starting tree platform and then travel at your own pace through the forest on an aerial trek that includes a series of suspended bridges, ziplines and exciting climbing challenges. Help design and/or build elements for a new low challenge course at Sugar Pine too. Climb On!

Brownie-Ambassador Troops August 18 – August 21 Fee $150 The outdoors is calling and you must go! Start your troop year off with an amazing outdoor getaway to our beautiful Sugar Pine resident camp in the Sierra Foothills. Spend four days learning and improving agespecific outdoor skills and enjoying outdoor program experiences under the guidance of our Resident Camp Specialists. Enjoy many exciting Sugar Pine activities too. From swimming, creek walking, fort building and the low challenge course, to hiking among the majestic pine trees and campfires under starry skies. Choose between three amazing courses, or try them all! Girls and leaders can learn or expand their outdoor skills with GSNorCal’s outdoor progressionbased programs, available for Daisy to Adult. Trained staff will facilitate side by side, age appropriate learning opportunities for girls and adults to build confidence and skill for their next big outdoor adventure. High Adventure Special Interest Groups

For older girls, here’s three ways to take your outdoor adventure to the next level! Backpacking Interest Group (B.I.G.): Backpack with Girl Scouts and put your back-country camping skills to work! No prior experience is needed. High Adventure Girl Scouts (H.A.G.S.): Brainstorm, research, and choose four high adventure trips for the group each year. Trips take place on weekends. Mariner Girl Scouts: Girls in 8th grade and above can participate in fun adventures involving boating and sailing.

GO outdoors, have fun, and as you participate in one of the patch areas, add the rockers. New rockers will be added periodically so you can just keep GOing!

Council-Run Camps CAMP REGISTRATION

Registration for all Council-Run Camps opens Feb. 1. Online registration is available through camprocks.org. Refer to page 28 for information on the registration process, deposit fees, camp confirmations, and refund instructions. Note: Girl Scout camps are open to every girl without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or ability. Girls do not have to be Girl Scouts to register for camp.

CAMP PROGRAMS AND FEES

Girl Scouts of Northern California strives to provide quality, affordable summer camp programs for girls and families. Fees for camps listed in this brochure vary due to paid staff salaries, transportation costs, food service, camp locations, and program fees for special instructors and/or equipment. All fees include meals, transportation (unless noted)and a camp patch. A camp t-shirt and photo are also included (except for family camp). Remember, girls may use Fall Sale and/or Cookie Rewards to help pay for camp fees.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Financial assistance to help cover the camp fees (maximum of 80%) is available for girls who live within the Girl Scouts of Northern California Council area. To apply for a financial assistance, refer to the instructions on page 24. For questions about financial assistance call 800-447-4475, ext. 6012.

MORE ABOUT OUR CAMP STAFF

Staff members are enthusiastic, talented, and caring individuals who are selected on the basis of their skills, experience, ability to serve as role models, and their genuine desire to work with children. The health and safety of the campers is always their first priority. Staff members are recruited from colleges and universities nationwide, local community agencies, Girl Scout referrals, and international cultural exchange organizations. Training for staff members prior to supervising campers includes activity programming, safety, team building, caring for campers, meeting their needs, and much more. Staff members who supervise high-adventure activities are required to have additional training and qualifications.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

All camps must meet established standards for health and safety, site maintenance, program and personnel, which are set by state and local governments and Girl Scouts of the USA. In addition, all camps have a qualified Health Supervisor on site. A doctor, or emergency services, is on-call if illness or injury requires medical attention. Parents will be notified in the event of an emergency. Refer to the “For Parents” section of the camprocks.org website for additional information on health management practices in our camps.

HEALTH EXAMS

All campers attending resident camp must have had a physical by a Licensed Physician, Physician’s Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner acting under the supervision of a Licensed Physician, within 12 months of their camp session. Our Council-Run camps use online health forms via CampDocs. Families with existing accounts can log on and update their camper information for the current year. For new campers, an invitation to open an account will be sent upon registration. All health forms are due June 1st. Health exams do not apply for Family Camps.

FOOD SERVICE AND SPECIAL DIETS

Meals at resident camp are served family or buffet style. Salad and sidebars are provided, and light snacks are available in the afternoon. A vegetarian option is provided at every meal. Some food allergies, such as gluten-free and lactose intolerance, may require the family to provide specialty food items. Severe food allergies may not be able to be accommodated. GIRLS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

If your daughter has medical or other special needs and can function with a 1:6 adult-to-camper ratio, we encourage you to work with us to find her the most appropriate camp program. Bothin is especially adaptable for campers with special physical needs. If your daughter needs more support to be successful, please contact our office at 800-447-4475, ext. 2091 or email registration@girlscoutsnorcal.org so that we can help you find the mostappropriate program for her abilities or refer you to a special needs camp program in your community.

Registration officially opens Feb. 1 at 12:01 a.m. Online registrations will be accepted at that time on a first-come, firstserved basis. Paper and fax registrations may be submitted prior to Feb. 1; however, placement will not occur until Feb. 1 during regular business hours. When more registrations have been received on Feb. 1 than space available, campers will be placed on a waitlist for their first choice and confirmed in an alternate choice if listed and space is available. HOW TO REGISTER

There are two ways to register for camp:

Go Green and Online!—Online registrations are processed faster than paper or FAX. Online payments will only be processed if the camper is placed in a program. Paper and FAX payments will be processed when received in the office, regardless of placement status. Paper registration forms can be found on CampRocks.org.

WHEN TO REGISTER

Only register via one method—online OR paper (mail, in-person or FAX). Registering by multiple methods does not give you a better chance of getting into a program and will result in multiple non-refundable deposit payments.

Do not sign up for multiple camp programs during the same session time in more than one camp. Deposits are not refundable.

If your 1st choice program is full, sign-up on the waitlist. Programs often open up due to waitlist demand.

Be sure to read the refund information carefully.

If registering by paper, remember to SIGN the registration form in all required places AND use blue or black ink.

• If space is available in the program, your credit card/debit card payment will be processed immediately and you will be registered in the program. •

If space is not available, you may choose to be placed on a waitlist and then try registering for another program. Your credit card/debit card will not be charged if you elect to be placed on a waitlist. If space becomes available, an email notification wil be sent.

Note: Our online registration provider is Doubleknot, a third-party registration provider. Doubleknot’s payment processing is Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliant and utilizes a Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) annually to ensure compliance with the PCI Data Security Standards (PCI DSS).

PLEASE NOTE • Telephone and email registrations are not accepted. •

The downloadable camp registration form on the website allows you to register for up to two sessions of camp per form. To sign up for multiple camp sessions online, follow the instructions in the Register Now section of the website.

To register two campers for the same program, they must both meet the age requirements for that program. List them as Camper Buddies on each other’s online or paper registration form. For paper or FAX registrations, submit them together or mail them in the same envelope. Placement with a buddy is not guaranteed. A maximum of two names together will be accepted.

• For all girls who are not current Girl Scout members at the time of registration, a non-refundable $15 registration fee plus a $15 Council-Service fee will apply. •

For all girls living outside the Girl Scouts of Northern California area, a $50 Out-of Council fee will apply. This fee covers a portion of the indirect costs relating to camp operations, which are subsidized by the Council.

• Family Camp programs require a non-refundable deposit of $50/person at the time of registration. •

A current health exam (within 12 months of camp) by a licensed Physician, Physicians Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner acting under the supervision of a Licensed Physician is required for attendance at resident camp. This does not apply to Family Camp programs.

DEPOSITS

The deposit is not refundable unless applying for Financial Assistance. Refer to page 30 for details. Non-refundable deposits are not transferable to another program or camper. For questions on this policy, contact the Council Member Services Department.

CONFIRMATION OF REGISTRATION

Placement in a camp program is confirmed once the registration process (online or paper) has been completed and the $150 nonrefundable deposit has been paid. A receipt is automatically emailed upon completion of an online registration. A Camper Information Packet with important camp details is linked on the receipt in the yellow highlighted area. Health forms are submitted online prior to camp via CampDoc. Families with existing accounts can log on and update their camper information for the current year. For new campers, an invitation to open a CampDoc account will be sent upon registration. All health forms are due June 1st. Health exams do not apply for Family Camps.

PAYMENT OF FEES

The balance of the camp fee is due four weeks before the opening day of the confirmed camp session. The total camp fee may be paid at any time prior, including at the time of registration. Payments may be made online, over the phone, by mail or in person using a credit or debit card, GSNorCal Cookie/Fall Sales reward card, check or money order. A $35 service charge will be made on all returned checks. Note: A camper will be canceled from a program if payment is not received by the four week due date. If your registration is canceled, you will be sent a notification and all fees paid up to that point are non-refundable.

CANCELLATIONS

To cancel a registration or a waitlist spot, send an email or written notification to registration@girlscoutsnorcal.org or FAX 1 (408) 287-8662. To receive a refund of the registration fees paid less the deposit, a notice of cancellation must be received at least four weeks prior to the first day of the camp session for which the cancellation is being made.

REFUND POLICY Full refund: If your selected camp session(s) is full and no alternative can be found or if the financial aid amount requested is not fully granted, the total amount paid will be refunded.

Partial refund: The balance of the camp fee, less deposit,

will be refunded only if:

1. Family plans change and the camper can no longer attend. In this case, written notification must be received four weeks before the opening date of the confirmed camp session; 2. The camper does not attend due to illness or injury. A letter from a physician must accompany the refund request; 3. The camper is sent home from camp due to illness or injury occurring at camp. Refunds are prorated in such cases and will not be made if the camper attends more than half of the camp session and will be made only at the written request of the parent/guardian. Note: No refunds will be made if the camper does not attend her camp session or leaves early for any other reason, even if her space is filled by another participant. Make refund requests in writing no later than August 31, 2016 to the Girl Scouts of Northern California.

Registration Information Continued FALL+ COOKIE REWARDS = CAMP!

Individual girls can earn Fall Sale Rewards or Cookie Rewards to pay for all or part of their camp registration through the Girl Scouts of Northern California Product Sale programs. Reference the Fall Sale and Cookie Sale order cards for the details. For the 2015-2016 membership year girls can choose a reward card at every recognition level for the Fall and Cookie sale programs. And, girls who sell 3000 packages of cookies can earn a free camp session at any of our Council-Run camps!

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE INSTRUCTIONS

Any girl who lives within Girl Scouts of Northern California’s jurisdiction is eligible to apply for financial help to attend Girl Scout camps in Northern California. Girls who live outside of this Council must contact their local Girl Scout Council for financial aid information. Girls must be registered Girl Scouts by April 15. DEADLINE: Financial Aid requests for Council must be submitted no later than May 15. Financial aid decisions are not made until camp placement has been confirmed. Families may request financial assistance for one session of any resident camp OR no more than two sessions of a Volunteer-Run day camp. All information is confidential. To apply for financial aid: • Complete the financial aid and the camp registration forms in this brochure or on the website at camprocks.org. Note: the camp registration form and financial aid form are two separate forms and are processed separately. • List the name of camp, program, and fee for which assistance is being requested on the financial aid form. • Girls or families must pay at least the deposit for their camp session. Should the financial aid amount requested not be fully granted and applicant chooses to cancel their registration, a refund of the deposit will be allowed. In such case, a refund request must be submitted in writing by Aug. 31. • Financial aid is based on need and this must be clearly demonstrated on the form. The Council takes into account income level, family size, and a detailed explanation of circumstances when granting financial assistance. • Documentation that verifies income level must be provided with the form (i.e. paycheck stub, tax return, unemployment check receipt, etc.) • Incomplete forms or those missing proof of income will not be reviewed. • A camera photo of this form will not be accepted.

Camp Improvement Weekends Spring 2016 • Join us! Skylark Ranch/Santa Cruz Mountains: March 6 Butano/San Mateo County: March 5 Hidden Falls/Santa Cruz Mountains: March 12 Bothin & Arequipa/Fairfax: April 16 Twin Canyon/Lafayette: April 3 Sugar Pine/Calaveras County: May 28 – 30/Memorial Day Weekend Two Sentinels/Kirkwood: Opening July 8 – 10 , Closing Aug.13 – 14 Fall work party Sept. 10 – 11 Bring the whole family to the mountains for a day or a weekend and partner with us to prepare the resident camps for the summer camp season. There is no fee. One day work parties include lunch. Weekend work parties include free camping and meals and offer a great opportunity for a weekend getaway that combines service work with free time to play, explore or relax. All age groups are welcome! Projects at the camps may include putting up platform tents, opening up and cleaning out buildings from the winter, cleaning bathrooms, clearing trails, clearing brush and debris, painting, etc. Housing will be in seasonal shelters, buildings or your own family tent. Camp Care Packages Surprise your camper with a Camp Care Kit! Choose from three variations of care packages which will be delivered to your home prior to your camper’s session. Slip it in her suitcase or send it with her on the first day of camp. Kits range from $25 – $40 and can be easily purchased through the camp registration process.
