CAMPSMOUNT A Co-operative Academy
22 October 2013 Our ref: NG/ES Dear Parents Re: Measles, Chicken Pox, Shingles and Gastroenteritis I am writing to ask for your help and support with a vitally important matter. Currently, two of our students are receiving medical treatment for cancer. This puts both students at serious risk if they are exposed to measles, chicken pox, shingles or gastroenteritis. Obviously, the most effective way to protect a student from measles is for all students to be immunised against the illness. If your son/daughter is not already vaccinated, could I ask you to discuss measles immunisation with your GP and then make an informed decision based on the advice you receive. As a further protection, if you suspect that you child has measles you should let the college know immediately. The students suffering from cancer are also at risk from chicken pox and would need to be given an injection within three days of contact. Once again, please let us know immediately if you suspect that your child has chicken pox. It is also very important that you let us know if anyone in your household has shingles. Obviously, your own son/daughter is not at any risk whatsoever from this situation. However, the health and well-being of our students with cancer may be at serious risk. We depend on, and thank you in advance, for your cooperation and support in this matter Yours sincerely
