Thought for the Week Monday 8th October 2012 World Post Day
October 9th
This week sees the celebration of World Post Day. Throughout history, "postal services" existed in the form of messengers who travelled large distances on foot or horseback. The King's letters, the Royal Mail, were carried by a special messenger who wore a bright red uniform. In 1635, Charles I opened up his ‘royal mail’ for use by the public.
Note to home! You could help your child to further their letter writing skills this week by helping them write to somebody they haven’t seen in a while, maybe even a foreign pen pal!
