R e b e l l i o n Legend has it that you experience a true Savage Storm when you kiss inside the Kissing Circle.
Before the clock strikes 12 on the night of your graduation you, must lock lips in the sacred ring.
Where did this mysterious spiral originate? The year was 1939. The graduating class decided to leave their mark on campus; that they did. Although it is unknown when the circle received its romantic reputation, the reputation remains. The kissing circle was designed to be a center of innocence. Eventually, its purpose morphed into a drama many students are trying to keep alive! If you haven’t checked out the ring of rebellion between the Library and Math building, you really should. It’s a great place for studying and enjoying the fall weather. And who knows? You might sneak a of couple kisses, too… By Ieysha Cheney

Southeastern has a history of haunting, nad our resident ghost, George, is one of our most infamous spirits. He resides in Montgomery Auditorium, and many have encountered the spooky soul. The following accounts are true, but I urge you to see for yourself. “George was a worker assigned to the Morrison building when the grid at the top of

would have been badly injured…if not killed.” The Southeastern reported, Heath Gammon, a SE alum, also encountered George. Gammon heard many stories while working at the site of the tragic event. At the time he didn’t believe in
Coker also recalled meeting the spirit, “We came in for rehearsal. One of the steel batons had fallen, hit the floor, and landed against the
ghosts, but one night that all changed. “It was early October, 1992. There were three or four of us-including my wife and my buddies – in the Auditorium. As we were shutting off the lights, these light bulbs started falling behind [my wife]. She’d be walking and they just fell down right behind her, one after another,” says Gammon.

While George may or not be real, the stories remain. Something haunts Montgomery Auditorium. Next time you take your seat in the Auditorium, and settle in to take notes in Music and American Society, say hello to George. He’s likely on stage near Dr. Emge.

urant born and raised, Skye Lowe discovered his love for football in his backyard. Lowe dreamed of following in his father ’s footsteps who played football in college and the NFL. “I’ve always wanted to be like my dad,” said Lowe. Lowe worked from flag football up to high school, and he developed a brotherhood with his teammates. “The teammates you play with in elementary and middle school, they’re friends for life.” Lowe said.
football field as one of Southeastern’s wide receivers. Skye is working towards a nursing degree and plans to use his forward thinking personality and big heart to become a traveling nurse. This Southeastern football star may have a lot on his plate, but he says he always has time to be with his family.
As a senior Lowe’s life was great. The team was working towards a victorious season, then snap! Every athlete’s worst nightmare became a reality to this high school senior. Skye tore his ACL. Knowing his father ’s career ended with the same knee injury, Skye worried that his fate might be the same. However, with the help of his supportive family and his courageous attitude, he was able to recover from his knee injury within eight months of his surgery. As a current junior in college, Skye continues to dominate the

Old Tyme Antiques By Ashlee Carr
Old Tyme Antiques has a clean feel which is rare in the antique business. The floor plan is open and it is easy to roam around and discover treasures. My favorite find was the Vintage Architectural Digest magazines. They are in perfect shape and a brilliant addition that mirrors the minimalism style that is popular today. I would believe the magazines were 2018 editions if the date were not on the cover. Architectural Digest’s style has transcended time and remains

Cracking open the cover of this blast-from-the-past creates a new dimension of inspiration. I am transported into a world unlike my own. The January 1979 edition inserted a record with whale noises that seals the vintage vibes - along with many other stories from 70’s culture. I know what you’re thinking. Of course you’re right. “I am into vintage magazines.” This is something I believe everyone should experience. These magazines allow you to see what was important to the people in a different era. It’s less about the medium and more about the history on the page. Go downtown to Old Tyme Antiques or Pickery Antique Mall and open a less conventional read.
