The Campus Note Scary Movie Review The Takeaway: The Movie: Malevolent is a Netflix original movie starring Florence Pugh and Ben Lloyd-Hughes as Angela and Jackson, a ghost hunting sibling duo. The kicker though, is that Angela can’t actually talk to the dead, and the two are running a scam operation. The whole thing goes south when they take a job at a creepy mansion (typical), and Angela actually starts to see things. Unfortunately the mansion isn't haunted by Casper the friendly ghost, and the situation becomes

violent for everyone involved.

The movie’s trailer made me jump more than the movie itself, and jump scares are the only way you’ll get scared when you watch this movie. There are some pretty big plot holes throughout the entire movie, with the last twenty minutes being jam packed with information and a pretty pointless plot twist. Despite the terrible storyline, the acting wasn’t bad and the movie does get points for the gore scenes. The Recommendation: As a whole though, it isn’t worth watching and I don't recommend adding it to your scary movie list this spooky season.

HALLOWEEN COSTUMES BY BAILEE PHELPS

Spooky season is here everyone! Don't get suckered into the stress and cost of a new costume. Exit out of whatever cart you have open and start opening up your closet. All of these costumes can be made at home using things you already have.

Plain, solid color tee shirt - cut out a white “m” and safety pin or glue it on your tee. Get a group together and you’ll be the “sweetest."

Plain white tee shirt, white shorts/pants, and a roll of toilet paper. Rip the sheets into strips, and wrap yourself in TP. Safety pins or glue will be essential to hold yourself together.

Orange tee shirt, black sharpie, white piece of paper. Cut out a pi symbol (look it up) and adhere to your tee shirt. Voilà! You are Pumpkin Pie!

The latest trend can be used as a costume! Grab your oversized tee shirt, scrunchies, friendship bracelets, aluminum straws, and pukashell necklaces.

Study Tips On average, it takes roughly 25 minutes to get completely focused on work again after being interrupted. - Lifehacker.com Learning ways to stay focused will help you get the most out of your study or homework time. Here are some different methods to help stay on track:

1. 2.

Look at your schedule for the week When do you have free time in the day to do some class work? Make it a habit to do homework every week at a set time. No homework for the week? Look over your notes and prepare for next week’s assignments.

Use your resources Try to find a study area that is not your bedroom and has few distractions. If you can't live without your phone, then try downloading an app that helps you stay on track while studying. Pomodoro Method: This app is a timer for the typical workday and is set for 20 minutes of work and then 5 minutes of break. It's free. Forest App: This is good for visual or creative thinkers. Each time you sit down to study, you plant a tree for 20 minutes, then break. By the end of your study time, you have a virtual forest. It's a $1.99 in the App Store.

3. Switch it up

If you have multiple assignments, switch it up after each break. Looking at the same thing constantly will eventually make your head hurt!

relationships, A.L.L. is a hot organization to be a part of.

What does ALL do? A.L.L has been a part of reviving SE traditions from the past, such as “the walk” an event before football games where students and fans line up across tailgate ally leading the team in the fight song to pump up the crowd for the game.

“With A.L.L. you know that whatever you want to get done, you can make it happen." - CARLI WHARTON “ I know there are a lot of other leadership organizations on campus, but I do not always feel as empowered with them as I do with ALL. We have the support to do what we want with our group… For example, last year when we did the cupcake run, that all happened within a month and a half, and we had a blast doing it.”

How can I join? Filling out a membership card and $20 dues per school year is all it takes to become an A.L.L member. These cards can be found at the A.L.L. tent during tailgate at home football games and meetings on Tuesdays in the Classroom Building 103 at 6 pm.

EC WHO? By Zoe Cardenas

This season, Southeastern’s rivalry with East Central is 102 years strong. Like smashing pumpkins, the Savage Storm will obliterate the orange and black.

Join the Storm at 2:00 pm on November 16th at Paul Laird Field. Make sure you show up early and stay late. During Rivalry week, there is a SE vs. EC Who? blood drive. Students can help win the Blood Drive Trophy by giving and giving blood.
