e began our work in Shanghai nearly 2 years ago helping out some of the tailors in the Fabric Markets.

I noticed how garment production was almost factory-like with pieces produced as quickly and cheaply as possible without any attention paid to quality, either in fabric or in workmanship. People would tell me they were paying for suits that would just hang in their closets without being worn because they didn’t fit properly or looked cheap. I immediately recognized the need for a good quality tailor in Shanghai. As such, our business was born and we’ve been clothing the Shanghai business community ever since.

About your tailors G. Quarant

Giuliano’s passion for tailoring began from a young age in his grandfather’s Italian workshop in Italy where he learned the principles of quality, comfort and style. After graduating from fashion school in Italy he joined the Accademia Nazionale dei Sartori (National Academy of Fine Tailors), an association of Italy’s most skilled tailors. He went on to win 2 national awards for male and female fashion, the “Manichino d’Oro” in 2009 and “Forbici d’Oro” in 2010 and was awarded the title of Young Master. Chosen as 1 out of the 10 Italian tailors featured at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, Giuliano was selected to represent his region and is now proud to call Shanghai home.

Influenced by the best dressed man in Palermo, Giuseppe followed in his uncle’s footsteps to become an international Master Tailor. Beginning his career as a freelance tailor servicing clients all over the world, Giuseppe later became Production Manager at one of Italy’s top clothing factories. Winning many national competitions and awards including the “Forbici d’Oro” in 2007, Giuseppe’s works were featured in Menswear Magazine in 2008 where he was also interviewed as one of the world’s top tailors. The prospect of working again as a freelance tailor was too exciting to pass up for Giuseppe which brought him to Shanghai and eventually led to the creation of Don Malacapa.
