EDUCATING CITY: A NEW LOOK AT THE COMMUNITY Final Graduation Project Florianópolis, Santa Catarina - Brazil.
03
This project seeks to reflect on the role of architecture in learning environments as a social transforming agent. As a result, it presents an Integrated Education Center in a needy neighborhood in Florianópolis: Monte Cristo. It was made in parallel with a research study about architecture and education. This area was selected because I’ve worked as a volunteer in the CEDEP - the most important NGO in the region, that develops social assistance through educational activities. I’ve worked on the expansion project of their building, with a participatory design with the kids and families.
CITY CENTER
From an “inside look” and an “outside look”, a great potential for intervention was seen in the region. Monte Cristo is the poorest region of Florianópolis, taken by informality, and with limited educational spaces. At the same time, it has the highest concentration of children and demand for schools. In the midst of this scenario, the Educating City is proposed as a space for learning, conviviality, and development.

VIA DE NÓS SOCIAL HOUSING IN LATIN AMERICA Desgin Studio VI Project; Presented in the ONU Competition of Social Housing; Florianópolis, Santa Catarina - Brazil.
07
Participating in the ONU competition, this project proposes new guidelines for a sustainable social housing policy for the Latin American city. The impact of the building is in the incorporation of a network of interconnected living spaces, which introduces social living on the scale of urban acupuncture. The aim is to recycle the space by rehabilitating residual areas of the city, through small-scale interventions with great repercussions on the problems of the city. The building addresses sustainability in all spheres: •
ENVIRONMENTAL: Incorporate vegetation into the building, with green roofs and walls, community vegetable gardens, and landscape treatment.
•
SOCIAL: Use of different housing typologies incorporate different phases of human life.
that
•
EcONOMIC: Regional materials that move microeconomy and are environmentally friendly.
the
•
CULTURAL: Understanding music as one of the connecting elements of different social classes, a music school is added to the building.

Drawing inspiration from the life cycle, the project seeks to provide transitional housing to homeless people. Following the concept of housing first, it seeks to offer not only housing, but elements that provide the transformation of individuals and their re-insertion into society, so that they can subsequently move to permanent housing. Its concept is based on the conception of CYCLES from 3 spheres: Selfsustainable, with bidirectional relationships between users/city, and waste reuse.

CASA MIRADOR NATURE, SEA AND ARCHITECTURE Renovation Project Itapema, Santa Catarina - Brazil.
15
Located in a privileged place surrounded by nature, Casa Mirador has this name due to its panoramic sea view of Itapema - Santa Catarina. The project consists of the renovation of an unfinished house building, with several pathologies. Using the existing structure, the architectural design completely transforms the construction, solving the clients’ desired functionality, giving movement and life to the facades. It has large openings that become large paintings of the natural landscape. The heart of the project is the balcony, where an infinite edge has been added, exploring the great visual potential of the area. It has more than 400m² of built area. Architectural and interior design project was developed. Status: Under construction.
