Signature Programs Marine Studies

Marine Studies at Canterbury is a school-wide curriculum for students in PK3 – Grade 12. All students learn in our Cousteau Center for Marine Studies (CCMS), a 2,800 square foot stand-alone building on the Knowlton Campus dedicated to marine studies. This stateof-the-art learning laboratory engages students with three touch tanks, three outdoor tilapia tanks, a kayak fleet and more. Our program flourishes due to our location. Students have direct access to Tampa Bay’s estuary with a living laboratory to explore. They also have unique access to a host of environmental and scientific institutions.

Character Education Students work to identify and develop their individual skills, strengths, challenges, gifts, and capacity for leadership through hands-on service learning projects. They foster key relationships with people and organizations that encourage their independence and growth, while developing an understanding of the critical role that service must play in the life of a responsible global citizen. Students also begin to identify the areas of service to which they feel most connected, and how the lessons and skills developed through the program can be applied to their lives beyond school.

Educational Technology | Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Canterbury empowers its students, encouraging them to take control of their own technological legacy. Our educators provide students with the quintessential tools to ensure student proficiency in a variety of platforms. Students are given the opportunity to take the helm and lead the way in exploring different devices suited to their own unique learning needs and interests. Technology is woven into our curriculum to enhance the educational experience. Our vision is that all our students learn to manage digital tools in powerful and ethical ways to further their understanding of the world.
