Tile Installation & Care Tips ❖ Tile Installation Step 1 – Setting the Tiles Step 2 – Sealing Step 3 – Grouting Step 4 – After treatment ❖ Tile Maintenance
Step 1 – Setting the Tiles ➔ Ensure that the surface that is to be tiled is level, clean and perfectly dry. ➔ Installation requires a double spread of adhesive. ➔ Tiles look best with small grout joints (1-3 mm). ➔ When installing press the tiles down firmly into place only by hand. ➔ Once the tiles are set allow them to stand until they dry.
Step 2 – Sealing ➔ Sealing has to be performed before grouting. ➔ Tiles have to be sealed to protect them from water and dirt. ➔ There are numerous products for this purpose like 511 H2O Plus.
Step 3 – Grouting ➔ Before grouting tiles should be allowed to dry for at least 24 hours. ➔ Mix the grout to a runny consistency and apply to small grout joints. ➔ Apply the grout to small areas so that it can be wiped off immediately. ➔ Use a Scotch-Brite pad if necessary.
Step 4 – After treatment ➔ Once the tiles are dry treat them with either concentrated soft soap colorless wax paste or other post installation sealants to enhances the color of tiles and give the desired finishing.
❖ Tile Maintenance ➔ The tiles should be cleaned using mild soap based detergents. ➔ Repeated cleaning with soft soap will maintain a satin finish. ➔ Never use acidic cleaners or other acids on cement tiles.
