Health and Safety at Work Overview In an ever more litigious society, there is pressure to prove we care for the health and safety (H&S) of our staff and visitors. This course will provide you with an understanding of health and safety legislation and help you build confidence in actively improving the workplace environment.
Who is it for? Those with responsibility for the health and safety of others or anyone who has been appointed a health and safety representative.
What you will learn:
Basic overview of the current H&S legislation Regulations and codes of practice Methods of risk assessment discussed and practiced RIDDOR and COSHH explained Stress assessments linked to H&S Responsibility for contractors working on your premises, ensuring their work practices are adhering to your H&S procedures Vulnerability to individuals Your responsibility for visitors to your premises, and theirs to you Gaining support from others to manage responsibility successfully Working with competent people to ensure you consistently maintain a safe workplace The importance of ‘near miss reports’ and hazard spotting Conduct risk assessments Ensuring you respond quickly and effectively to any concerns brought to your attention The day will include practical work on case studies and a video viewing to enhance learning.
