Why Teens Are Treated Like Children?

I’m Not a Kid No More Why teens are treated like children? “I’m not a kid no more. Let me grow up!” said Adriana Vazquez, my 16 year old sister.

My sister does not like it, but I think my mom will always treat her like that until she is 18.

My question to adults and parents is: Why are teens treated like children by parents? Most adults and parents say “they are still my little baby”, but teens don’t think that way. We want to grow up to be adults and not stay children.

I don’t think teens can stop parents from doing this so I sat down with my sister and told her to give my mom a chance. What do I mean by a chance? Sometimes we teenagers think that our parents are picking on us, but in reality they may be reacting in a certain way because of what has happened to them in the past. Have you ever asked your parent what their story is? My sister never has. Maybe if she knew my mom’s story, she could understand why my mom wants us to stay little children forever.

Most of the time my mom treats my sister like a child around my family. I think that happens because my aunt doesn’t let my cousin do certain things that my mom lets my sister do. I think the reason my mom treats my sister that way is because my dad isn’t around or maybe it’s just because she is overprotective because she is a single mom. Another way I see my mom treating my sister like a child is when she says “You’re still my baby.”
