CONNIE’S FREMANTLE BLESSING OF THE FLEET FESTIVAL This year is the 70th Anniversary of Fremantle’s Blessing of the Fleet Festival and is being held on Sunday 28th October. The colourful procession will begin at 2:00pm from St Patrick’s Basilica making its way through the streets to Fishing Boat Harbour and ends with a fireworks spectacular in the evening. Thanks to the America’s Cup in 1987, if you mention Fremantle today the world over, it’s likely everyone will know it and it’s probably even on their bucket list of places to visit. Happily, once they arrive, they will be delighted to find a culturally diverse, eclectic and historic town which is ‘all grown up’ but with a young, vibrant energy unlike any other Perth suburb. Freo is my home and I am lucky to live in a haven of cafés, museums, art galleries, restaurants and stunning beaches but I am particularly fond of our beautiful Edwardian and Victorian architecture.
