CONFIDENCE IS BACK IN PERTH An expanding economy, a strengthening property market and renewed activity in the mining sector: these are all signs that Perth´s downturn is easing up, with Premier Mark McGowan confirming that he´s more confident about WA´s economic prospects than ever. "Every day you are seeing good signs," he told reporters this month. "The confidence is back in WA. You can feel it, you can see it and certainly it is an improvement on where it was." Premier McGowan suggests that Perth´s property market is heating up and at Caporn Young, we couldn´t agree more. Week after week, our team is fielding increased levels of enquiries, negotiating with more buyers and achieving great results for our clients, thanks to a growing buyer appetite. On the mining front, Rio Tinto, Fortescue Metals Group and BHP have each announced new iron ore projects, and
across the state we now have no fewer than seven lithium mines, with a $1 billion lithium processing plant planned near Bunbury. The situation is only set to improve, with new figures showing that WA´s domestic economy expanded 1.1% in 2017-18 - an extraordinary turnaround, after it fell 7.1% in 2016-17. This is a positive surge in the right direction, following four consecutive years of decline. So what does this mean for Perth property owners? It means this: after years of stagnant wages, backwards price momentum and rising unemployment, Perth is on its way back up. All of this economic activity is set to encourage income growth and set a foundation under Perth´s property market from which it can thrive. If you´re thinking about buying into this market, consider taking action soon to stretch your dollar as far as possible. Alternatively, if you own a property and you´re ready to move on, this could be the ideal time to take advantage of active cash buyers and renewed buyer interest!
