STRONG QUARTERLY REPORT CARD FOR AUCTION As the first part of 2016 draws to a close, I’m thrilled to be able to share some exceptional quarterly results from the Caporn Young report card. This includes an 87.5 percent success rate in auction campaigns - and a 30 percent increase in sales under the hammer compared to the same period last year. Our most recent auction highlights include a $2.45million sale in North Fremantle and an extraordinary $4.1million sale in Attadale. It’s not just on the local stage where Caporn Young are standing head-and-shoulders above the rest. The team is also performing extraordinarily well on a national level. Several of our sales executives were singled out in the

PROFILE CELEBRATING FASHION ON THE SILVER SCREEN FASHION FILM FESTIVAL - WINTER’S HOTTEST TICKET Perth’s premier private cinema The Backlot will be coming to life this year, with two instalments of the Claremont Quarter Fashion Film Festival. Running in line with the fashion seasons – autumn/winter in May, and spring/summer throughout August – the festival will explore the latest trends through the lens of iconic films. Pre-movie fashion moments, live panel discussions and runway shows will complement each screening, providing guests insight into the world of the film as well as the fashion that drives it. “It is immersion cinema, which means it is more than just seeing a movie – it’s experiencing it,” festival founder Elizabeth Clarke says. “Guests can expect a beautiful night out complete with great food and wine, a real fashion experience, and the unique opportunity to see iconic fashion movies on the big screen. The music, food and fashion moment we create all relate back to the film.” Festival goers will also get to enjoy the films from the comfort of plush leather seats; the 7.4-metre wide silver screen and Dolby Digital 7.1 sound setting the scene. With just 50 seats available at The Backlot, the events are expected to quickly sell out. Highlights of this year’s bill include the 1980s classic Scarface, starring Michelle Pfeiffer in her iconic disco couture. The latest collection of Australian label Manning Cartell drew strong cues from the film, and designers Cheryl and Vanessa Manning will speak as part of the pre-show entertainment. Another 1980s film in this year’s line-up is American Gigolo, which
is considered to be the catalyst that launched Giorgio Armani into fashion’s stratosphere. “The wardrobe from American Gigolo came to define menswear of this era,” Elizabeth explains. “Richard Gere wears every line of Armani in this film, from underwear right through to formal wear. Thanks to American Gigolo, the relaxed ‘greige’ (grey/beige) silhouette is still paramount 36 years later.” “As we are running parallel with the fashion seasons, I sourced the films that inspired the trends in 2016,” she adds. “For example, the 1960s are a strong story this year, so The Graduate was a great fit, especially leading lady Mrs Robinson... with her inky eyes and leopard print lingerie!” Elizabeth has enjoyed a colourful career in the industry, starting out in jobs where she pinned dresses on Princess Diana and pressed Steve Irwin’s khakis behind the scenes on The Crocodile Hunter. Now based in Perth’s western suburbs, she contributes to leading publications around Australia and the world, and has hosted exclusive fashion showings for major international brands including Burberry, Bulgari and Gucci. “Perth has a small fashion industry, but a fierce one! I think being so isolated encourages creativity,” she says. “We work hard and look for creative opportunities, which are often well-supported by our peers.
