Christian Women’s Job Corps (CWJC) of Madison County Mission: The mission of Christian Women’s Job Corps® of Madison County, Alabama, Inc. is to equip area women with the life and employment skills needed for them to obtain self–sufficiency. With the support of area volunteers, our goal is to break the cycle of poverty, be it financial or poverty of spirit. Website: http://www.cwjc.net Contact Information: Elaine Dickson, Executive Director cwjc@cwjc.net Phone: 256.428.9435 Program/Services: • CWJC Program: Participation in the CWJC program seeks to intensify student's life and work skills through courses ranging from Bible study to Personal Discovery. In each of the free 10 to 12 week sessions in which classes are held, students are given a firm foundation to build a successful life and career. Upon graduation from the CWJC program, each student is paired with a mentor who has committed to a one‐year one‐ on‐one relationship to aid in building the student's self‐esteem, self‐confidence, and skills essential to success in life and work. Classes include: ‐Bible Study teaches students how to apply biblical knowledge to everyday living. The bible studies are based on biblical doctrine not denomination. ‐Career explores career options to help students prepare for, obtain and maintain employment. ‐Communication teaches positive, healthy communication in all circumstances. ‐Computer Skills teaches beginning level skills in typing, Microsoft® Windows®, Word®, Excel®, PowerPoint®, email and the Internet. Students complete a letter, resume, and other projects. ‐Goals and Issues takes students on a journey to discover the obstacles that hold us back from reaching their goals in life ‐Literature teaches writing, reading, discussion, and critical thinking skills. ‐Money Matters teaches the foundations of money and finance management including budgeting, savings, tithing, and credit. o

Who Qualifies for these Services or Funds?: Women chosen to participate in the Christian Women's Job Corps program attend intensive life and work skills courses that include daily Bible study and computer classes. The classes vary in length and are free of charge. The curriculum is designed to give the CWJC students a firm foundation on which to build a successful life and career.
