ichael Mikaben, known as the "Prince of Kompa," was a Haitian musician who made a significant impact on the music scene not just in Haiti, but also around the world. Born on August 11, 1972, in Port-au-Prince, Mikaben began his career as a musician in the early 1990s. Mikaben's music was a fusion of traditional Haitian rhythms with modern sounds, making it unique and appealing to a broad audience. He was known for his distinctive voice, infectious beats, and catchy melodies, which made his songs a hit on the dance floor. Throughout his career, Mikaben released several albums, including "Mikaben," "The Prince,"

and "Kompa Mato." His music was played across the Caribbean and North America, and he collaborated with other prominent artists such as T-Vice, Carimi, and Zin. Mikaben was not just a musician but also a philanthropist who was committed to giving back to his community. He established the Mikaben Foundation, which provided scholarships to underprivileged children in Haiti to help them access education and better opportunities. In August 2020, Mikaben was diagnosed with COVID-19 and was hospitalized for several weeks. Despite his illness, he continued to inspire and uplift his fans, sharing messages of hope and encouragement through social media.

Sadly, on September 11, 2020, Mikaben passed away at the age of 48, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come. He will always be remembered as one of the greatest musicians to come out of Haiti, and his music will continue to be played and enjoyed for years to come.
