Horse euthuanized in controversial Mountain Race Many local cowboys and cowgirls traveled out to Nemiah Valley for their 35th annual Rodeo. Many locals had a good weekend at the rodeo, but for Cariboo-Chilcotin cowboy Jimmy Lulua it wasn’t so good. In the mountain race, which is a Cariboo tradition that sees horses and riders race down a steep
hillside, Lulua’s horse stumbled causing the two of them to fall. The mountain race has been a controversial event in rodeos for many years because of the danger to not only the riders, but the horses as well. Lulua was taken by helicopter to Cariboo Memorial Hospital, and then by ambulance to
