A 19-year-old young man lost his life in a logging accident near Bella Coola Sunday. The BC Coroners Service confirmed the identity of the man as that of Renel Lafleur, aged 19, from Golden, BC. Lafleur was working at a logging camp located at South Bentinck Arm near Bella Coola when he was fatally injured. According to the Coroner’s Service, emergency personnel attended the scene and attempted resuscitation efforts. However, Lafleur succumbed to his injuries. The Coroners Service did not release details of the accident. The BC Coroners Service and WorkSafeBC continue to investigate this tragic death, which comes as the country acknowledges National Forest Week.
