The Palacio de las Veletas it´s located in the Caceres’ historic quarter, in Extremadura’s region. This palace counts with an underground cistern which is considered a human heritage patrimony and has remained since the Arab occupation in the country. This building in addition to the Casa de Los Caballos has been working as the city museum since 1914. The main problem that this project presents is that these spaces are not updated to nowadays lifestyles. The intervention consisted of a redesign of both building zoning, modernized the whole museum and give a new use to some abandoned areas.

Sótano de las Golondrinas, San Luis Potosí, México. Contest: Inspiration Hostel spring 2018

The contest program requested to design an inspirational and meditation hostel for artists, the site location was undefined. Therefore, the selected site was the Cave of Swallows (Sótano de las Golondrinas), an underground cave located in San Luis Potosí, formed by water erosion through millions of years. This place counts with a dept of 500 lineal meters, making this the perfect location for the users’ introspection. The project proposes a wholly isolated space that presents itself in a natural environment allowing the users to interact with the program in different levels designed to give them a psychological, emotional, and sensitive comfort. The main idea was that the artists were able to completely disconnect from their mundane context to achieve a pure level of reflection, indifferent to the external factors they are usually facing.

The cultural complex 19|09 was born of the idea of creating a space to honour the collective memory of the lost lives in the September 19, 2017 earthquake that took place in Mexico. The chosen site for developing the project was the area of the Enrique Rébsaben school’s collapse, one of the most emblematic sites because of the circumstances of this construction. Therefore, the architectural program was developed to resolve the users’ physical, psychological, recreative, social and athletic necessities, without leaving behind the terrific event that occurred in the country. One of the main areas in the project was the plaza, this space intended to give the users a multitask area where they could realize different types of activities at different scales but in a collective manner, transform the platform in an area of encounter and resilience.
