LACMA 2016 Application Call 25/04/2016 Latin American Cooperation on Maternal Health and Access to Safe Abortion 1. Introduction a. The Latin American Cooperation on Maternal Health and Access to Safe Abortion (LACMA) is an international IFMSA event that huddles all American NMOs in hopes of more fruitful discussions regarding maternal health and safe abortion in the respective countries. b. This event will be a seven day IFMSA training, five of which would be working days. At least three and a half days of the encounter will be dedicated to safe abortion. The remaining time will be use to allow participants to present in other topics regarding maternal health that are key for the region. c. It is not presumed to have further editions of this event. 2. Objectives a. Provide a space for medical students in the Americas to discuss and prioritize maternal health topics, including safe abortion by learning experiences from which they can identify and seek more information about. b. Raise medical students’ awareness of and ability to advocate for women’s adolescents’, reproductive health, including safe abortion. c. Capacitating these trainers gives the opportunity to spread awareness and construction of new ground spaces where these topics may be explored and reproduced. Attendees are expected to deliver this workshop guided by the SCORA IT in the future, adapt it to national and local variations that may not be covered by an international perspective d. Nurturing our opinions as future health leaders from political and social contexts shared by other people from different realities from all the region in order to identify as social education tools that help identify, model and address social determinants of health to provide better health care conditions for women all over the region.

Seeking comprehensive medical knowledge that surpasses psychobiosocial models and understand social determination of the health­disease process which we can use to benefit integrally women in our population. f. Creating international network of trainers and advocates for safe abortion who will create “Community of practice” sharing the best examples of advocacy and trainings in the topic of sexual and reproductive health including safe abortion 3. Members a. All NMOs that belong to the America's Region of the IFMSA are eligible to participate 4. Main Data a. Dates: 22­28 of july b. Place: Quito, Ecuador c. Participant Spots i. This event has a capacity of a total of 18­23 participants. ii. Participants must send their applications to ​ ra.scora.pamsa@gmail.com​ , lra@ifmsa.org​ and ​ scorad@ifmsa.org​ within the established deadlines (. Applications must include: Motivation Letter, Curriculum Vitae and Support Letter from NMO president (signed and Stamped). It’s important to note that: 1. There is no quota of applicants per NMO 2. There is no position restriction to apply, but NORAs will be prioritized above other members in the selection process. 3. There can be more than one selected spot per NMO 4. Candidatures with invalid/falsified/adulterated documentation or missing documents won’t be considered valid. d. Participant Investment i. There will be 100% coverage of the participant’s fee to LACMA (includes hotel, meals, and the benefits mentioned in the SRT invitation package). ii. Flights and other expenses outside those mentioned in the invitation package must be covered by the participants 5. Deadline: all applications will be received until ​ may 4th 23:59 GMT ­3 ​ and results will be released on May 6th
