BLUE OASIS
SETIA ECO CASCADIA The Setia Eco Cascadia is a brainchild project by S P Setia, Johor, which successfully combines natural elements alongside urban living requirements. Inspired by the best Mother Nature has to offer, majestic waterfalls, over 12 metres in height and 60 metres in length, cascade over stunning rockwork, which brings a sense of peace and calm to the entire development. For this major project, the M&E engineering and C&S work was solely managed by Oasisland. Situated on natural terrain in an untouched and undiscovered part of Johor Bahru, Setia Eco Cascadia features water in many forms, across the entire estate. Each modern, luxurious villa has a vantage point to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding waterfalls, lakes and ponds. To maintain its eco-friendly nature, the water system features the use of a Bioswale, a unique ecologically-attuned facility which filters rainwater before discharging it into the drainage system.
PERDANA BOTANICAL PARK WATERFALL Oasisland was engaged to construct an entirely new waterfall feature at the new ‘Perdana Botanical Park’. Measuring 17 metres in width and 12 metres in height, the waterfall took the team of 45 staff and engineers almost 3 months to complete. This imposing feature is positioned adjacent to the Panggung Anniversary, an outdoor concert venue which has become an iconic feature of the park. The sound of flowing water, emanating from the waterfall, helps to establish a delightfully tranquil atmosphere. Visitors to the park are also able to move on to view other attractions from this point, with the recently constructed green connectors linking to various key attractions, such as the Hibiscus Gardens, Fern Walk and Laman Heliconia.

THE ROYALE CHULAN KUALA LUMPUR WATERFALL Located at the heart of the hotel’s centre courtyard, a majestic 20 foot hand crafted waterfall and flowing streams provide a soothing ambience for the adjacent restaurants. The colourful tropical plantings and flowers have been carefully selected to suit the indoor environment and soften the rock features. The centre courtyard conservatory gardens offer a tranquil space for hotel guests and compliments the old-world charm and elegant design of the traditional Malay architecture of the Royale Chulan, Kuala Lumpur.

THE ROYALE CHULAN KUALA LUMPUR FEATURE FOUNTAIN The Royale Chulan Hotel is a five-star luxury hotel set in the very heart of Kuala Lumpur. The development combines traditional Malay architectural forms with beautiful lush, tropical landscaping. The entrance of the hotel comprises an elaborate porte cochĂŠre, decorated by an elegant, two tiered feature fountain, which combines traditional design elements with a modern touch. The cascading water feature is another masterpiece of Oasis designs, especially crafted to suit the concept of this truly unique traditional Malay luxury hotel.
CRYSTAL FOUNTAIN The newly introduced Crystal Fountain is a stunning water feature, created with the combination of artisan art sculpture and Murano glass from Italy. The process of making Murano glass is rather complex with the glass made from silica, which passes from its liquid state at high temperatures to a solid state. During the process, there is an interval when the glass is soft, thereby allowing the artisan to shape the material in different ways, in different sizes and in a myriad of colours. Combining modern technology, such as multi-coloured LED lights, along with the natural flow of clean, fresh water, the Crystal Fountain is a masterpiece in its own right.

SYMPHONY FOUNTAIN Fountains do not merely consist of shooting jets or cooling sprays of water. Combined with the latest light, sound and movement technology, a truly stunning Symphony Fountain can be created. These eye catching creations, dancing to the tune of a sophisticated music processor, ensure a complete sensory feast for the viewer and are a beautiful accompaniment to one’s relaxation time, either in an intimate home space or a major public plaza.
AQUARIA KLCC AMAZON DEEP FOREST ENCLOSURE COASTAL AREA HABITAT EXHIBIT Aquaria KLCC is a state-of the art 60,000 sq.ft. aquarium, situated right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur City. It is an excellent tourist destination and its design is based on the concept of “The Journey of Water”. The design and construction team at Oasisland worked with Aquaria KLCC to make this wonderful aquarium a most delightful and comfortable educational experience. Oasisland was involved in the construction of the Amazon Deep Forest Enclosure and Coastal Area Habitat Exhibit in 2005. The task was to create an indoor thematic rockscape and artificial plants to house both fresh water and salt water fish.

AQUARIA KLCC OTTER & GIANT RAT ENCLOSURE COATIMUNDI HABITAT In 2010, Oasisland was involved in the new Otter and Giant Rat Enclosure and the Coatimundi Habitat at Aquaria KLCC. During the design process of this project, Oasisland worked closely with the centre’s experts in order to understand the animals’ habitat and thereby create an enclosure that would best reflect their natural environment. The habitat creation therefore focused on the construction of crafted rocks, fallen trees trunks, branches, hiding spots and water bodies.

PERDANA BOTANICAL PARK VIEWING DECK Oasisland was commissioned by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall to construct several landscape furniture installations, as additional features to the new Perdana Botanical Park. These include a viewing deck around the Brazilian Nut Tree. The viewing deck is positioned on an incline, to the rear of the main lake, and offers outstanding panoramic views of key areas of the park and the buildings of the KL Sentral area. The materials used are natural and recycled timber blocks from the old railway track combined with lush landscape planting surrounding the foundation of the deck.

PERDANA BOTANICAL PARK DEER ENCLOSURE DECORATIVE FENCES Oasisland was commissioned by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall to construct the 90m length decorative timber look fences and boulders to separate animals from walk-in visitors. This is part of the extension work for the Deer Park within Tun Razak Heritage Park, Kuala Lumpur.

PERDANA BOTANICAL PARK SHADE STRUCTURES & DECORATIVE DISPLAY Oasisland was commissioned by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall to construct several landscape structures, as additional features of the new Perdana Botanical Park. These include a “wakaf”, a gazebo and several spaces decorated with Oasis Plant Towers. The gazebo is used as both a rest area and a tram stop.

SUBANG SKYPARK PRESERVED INDOOR PALMS The natural beauty of real palms and trees has been preserved through a revolutionary scientific process. The lush trees and decorative foliage are real plants which have been through a unique preserving technique, ensuring an unparalleled realism that surpasses any faux plant. With no light, water, pesticides or trimming required, preserved palms and trees are presently being used in hotels, shopping malls, office buildings, airline terminals, homes and spas.

THE ROYALE CHULAN KUALA LUMPUR HANDCRAFTED TREES A stunning glass feature, a courtyard conservatory, is a major feature of the Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur hotel’s interior. Four large, man-made 60 foot high rainforest trees adorn the internal supports, which offers guests a tropical setting for special events such as cocktail receptions and dinners.

TROPICANA RESIDENCE Nested within the luxury villa development of Tropicana is a private garden with a difference. This large outdoor space is designed to host private outdoor functions yet still retain the feeling of an intimate garden environment. The entire space is separated by Rhythmic Steps which stretch between the restful patio and the green planting area. An impressive water cascading style fountain, the focal point for the entire garden, provides the soothing sounds of flowing water to the surrounding area. The delightful gazebo, another iconic structure, sits atop the koi pond and serves as a relaxation spot for the entire family.

Gardens not only appear at ground level but also high up in the sky at Tropicana Villa. The design constructed by Oasisland takes advantage of the view of the surrounding area of the Klang Valley. The structure maximises the potential of the view and sunshine is kept at bay with a semi-shaded timber roof which forms delightful shadows on the timber deck and lawn below.
BLU CONSTELLATION ZEN GARDEN Nothing catches the eye quite like the asian-inspired garden, nestled within the Residences of the Blu Constellation development. Oasisland’s latest landscape design and installment, a Zen Garden, incorporates recognisable and iconic features such as rounded pebbles, artificial handcrafted stones, Japanese lanterns and decorative and colourful plants to form a tranquil traditional Japanese style garden.

IDAMAN RESIDENCE KUALA LUMPUR Upon stepping into the lobby of the Idaman Residence, Kuala Lumpur, visitors will be met by a stand of preserved bamboo forming a large backdrop, which is reflected in the tranquil pond below. To complete the dramatic design, metal sculptures, in the form of birds, fly serenely across the entire scene.

SEAN SU Sean Su is an experienced landscape contractor and the founder and director of Oasisland Sdn Bhd. He is a specialist in Handcrafted Rockscape & Aquascape design & construction. He is an expert in interior landscape work, being especially well-known for incorporating preserved trees and palms within his innovative and visually stunning design projects. Sean has considerable experience providing imaginative landscaping design solutions for prominent Malaysian clients, including Aquaria KLCC, Suria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Subang Skypark, Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur, Mutiara Damansara, The Curve and S P Setia Berhad Group. His latest ventures, the Crystal Fountain and Symphony Fountain, bring modern aquascape trends to the local landscape and property development scene.
