nature MAPPING INVASIVES WITH EDDMAPS FREE! Invasive species are a top priority for land management in park systems, communities and backyards. One of the best ways to keep track of invasion and spread is with mapping. Early Detection and Distribution Mapping System (EDDMapS) is a national web-based mapping system for documenting invasive species distribution to help make land management decisions. Whether you are a land owner who would like to map your own invasive species on your property, or you would like to aid in the overall documentation of invasives along your favorite hiking trails, join us for an evening of learning. In this session, you will learn how to create your own EDDMapS account. Ages: 16+ years • Instructor: CCPR Staff ACTIVITY# DATES

The purpose of Earth Day is to demonstrate support for the environment and Earth’s precious natural habitats. It happens to fall in the midst of spring, which is a great time to establish native plants, allowing them to mature with the spring rains and flourish with the warm weather to come. Bring the whole family along to celebrate Earth Day with us as we plant native species at the Woodland Gardens of Central Park. All are welcome to volunteer with this planting. BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS

The Extended School Enrichment program is characterized by sensitivity and respect for all individuals. ESE promotes positive student interaction, self-control, respect for others, and personal responsibility. Expectations and consequences permit students an opportunity to eliminate inappropriate behavior. ESE Behavior Guidelines are enforced: • By all staff members at all times. • In substantial part by adult role modeling. • Using techniques that promote the growth of positive self-esteem. • As close to the source as is possible. • By holding students accountable for their actions. • By keeping parents informed. • By limiting group discipline to a maximum of one minute. • Through implementation of the Behavior Consequence Rubric.

ESE CARE FOR CCS LATE START SCHEDULE

Beginning in the 2020 – 2021 school year, CCS will delay the school start time for elementary school students approximately twice a month. On these days, ESE will provide free extended care to enrolled participants as well as non-enrolled students. Pre-registration is required.  Click here for more information and to enroll.

Each parent/guardian is responsible for walking their child into ESE Before-School; students are not to be dropped off at the school site without accompaniment by a parent/ guardian. Students are only released to individuals listed as “authorized pick-ups” who must be at least 16 years of age and must be listed within the participant’s online account. All ESE staff is required to check identification of authorized individuals. The sign-in/out table will be clearly displayed and located in an optimal place for parent/guardian accessibility. Late fees will be assessed to any pickups after 6:00 p.m.; the charge is $1 for every minute late per child (e.g. a child picked up at 6:04 p.m. equals a late fee charge of $4).

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

ESE staff and students will practice live emergency drills throughout the school year simulating various emergencies to ensure proper preparation in the case of an actual crisis during the ESE program.
