This icon is placed next to any programs for which we are seeking volunteers. PROGRAM REFUND POLICY (excludes ESE)

If a class is cancelled by Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation, a full refund or a make-up class will be given. For any other reason, a Refund Request may be filled out and submitted 14 days prior to the program start date. All refunds are subject to the approval of the Monon Community Center Director and are subject to State Board of Accounts claim procedures. If approved, a full refund (less a $10 service charge) will be given. Check refunds may take up to 3-4 weeks to process.

PRESCHOOL LEVEL 2

Designed to help children ages 3-5 with some swimming experience begin to develop independence in the water. Children should be able to submerge their nose and eyes in the water and be comfortable lying on their front and back with support. Designed for beginners ages 6-14 and up with little or no experience in the water. Children will begin to familiarize themselves with the water and learn basic swimming skills such as kicking, floating, scooping, and gliding. Ages: 6-14 years • Instructor: CCPR Staff

For the very experienced swimmer ages 4-5. Children must be able to make independent forward progress on their front and be comfortable floating on their back without assistance. Children will begin to develop an array of advanced skills such as freestyle arms, rolling from front to back, treading, and swimming in deeper water. No class on 4/21. Swimmers will improve their freestyle stroke and begin developing the breaststroke. New strokes and skills will be introduced, including backstroke, dolphin kick, and diving. Safe Sitter® is a nationally recognized, medically-accurate program that is designed to prepare students in grades 6-8 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. Adaptive Swim Lessons target all ages and are designed to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities. Activities for swim lessons include water safety, blowing bubbles, floating, treading, stroke development, and stroke refinement. The swimmer is paired with an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor who has experience supporting individuals with disabilities. The lessons are scheduled based on the availability of the instructor and swimmer. Fee is $145 for ten 30-minute lessons.

Adaptive Leisure Lessons are educational and fun! These sessions could be any of the following, but are not limited to sports, fitness, education, arts and crafts, biking, and more. Fee is $145 for ten 30-minute sessions that are scheduled based on availability of the instructor and participant.

ARBOR DAY

Come celebrate Arbor Day by giving your time to help with habitat restoration. Volunteers will help with native tree planting and invasive plant removal.
