MAPPING INVASIVE SPECIES WITH EDDMAPS NEW!
The IMN program offers hands-on opportunities to learn about our natural resources. The mission of the IMN program is to bring together natural resource specialists with adult learners to foster an understanding of Indiana’s plants, water, soils and wildlife, and promote volunteer service in local communities. To complete the IMN program, you must attend at least six of the eight classes and complete 24 volunteer hours within one year of taking the class. At the completion of the course, you will receive an official IMN certificate and pin. If you have any questions about this program, please contact Erica Foreman (eforeman@carmelclayparks.com).
Invasive species are a top priority in most park systems, communities and backyards. One of the best ways to keep track of invasion and spread is with mapping. This can make all the difference between one honeysuckle plant and 100 honeysuckle plants! Early Detection and Distribution Mapping System (EDDMapS) is a powerful citizen science app that uses your data to help stop the spread of invasive species. In this session create your own EDDMapS account, learn about volunteer opportunities using EDDMapS and help stop the spread!

BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS
The Extended School Enrichment program is characterized by sensitivity and respect for all individuals. ESE promotes positive student interaction, self-control, respect for others, and personal responsibility. Expectations and consequences permit students an opportunity to eliminate inappropriate behavior. ESE Behavior Guidelines are enforced: • By all staff members at all times. • In substantial part by adult role modeling. • Using techniques that promote the growth of positive self-esteem. • As close to the source as is possible. • By holding students accountable for their actions. • By keeping parents informed. • By limiting group discipline to a maximum of one minute. • Through implementation of the Behavior Consequence Rubric.
We have achieved “Partner in Prevention” status again this year, a designation awarded by the nonprofit Darkness to Light. This title is given to organizations which take extra steps to protect the children they serve. “Partner in Prevention” was created as a national standard to help parents and caregivers recognize organizations that take child protection seriously by implementing policy and training staff to prevent child sexual abuse.
