“Not only has volunteering at Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation led me to various opportunities, it has become a second home to me. I’ve discovered a place where I can work toward helping others and improving my community, all while having a blast. Every experience is gratifying and fulfilling in continuous and new ways. I especially enjoy having met the amazing and diverse people that I otherwise wouldn’t know. ”

NEW! JUNIOR ENGINEERING: PIRATE
ACADEMY
Being a pirate involves more than just swabbing the deck and searching for buried treasure. Pirates have to engineer ways to build their ship, load it up and sail around the world. Sometimes buried treasure isn’t found on an island, but in a dark cavern far below the ocean’s surface. In this class, students explore industrial and marine engineering as they design their own boat and devise ways to dive deep into the ocean to retrieve buried treasure.
From the playground at recess to the classroom at school, good manners and social skills are important. Children will learn dining skills, how to interact with others, introduce themselves, and talk on the phone. At the end of the session, participants will enjoy dressing up and attending our fabulous Tea Party! GO PLAY! Play has many benefits for both kids and adults - emotional and developmental. Children have the ability to learn concepts and skills, imagine and discover. Play teaches our kids the intricacies of life and provides them opportunities for risk taking and belonging. It teaches them to fail, but then to pick themselves up and try again. A playground is a strong tool for supporting children in better health, enhancing their life skills, and achieving better social inclusion. Help create memories for your children and get them out to a playground, a place where they can create, learn, and grow!

Don’t forget about the adults! Play is not just essential for kids. Play provides adults with a source of relaxation and stimulation, decreases stress levels, and improves your mood. Adult play is a time to forget about the hustle and bustle of your everyday lives and is a time to actually gain experiences and create memories. So put on those tennis shoes and jump out to the playground...and have some fun!

Each day is filled with fun and exciting games and activities for the campers. Each day before the end-of-day activities, camp leaders nominate “Campers of the Day” for each color group. Campers receive their certificate in front of their peers and are one step closer to having their name placed on the VIP camper wall. At Where It’s At, we strive to keep parents in the know with letters from the campers at least a few times each week, as well as our information wall located near the parent table.

STATE M E NT OF ACCESSI BI LITY Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation (CCPR) makes a good-faith effort to ensure all patrons, and the community at-large, are knowledgeable of the resources and opportunities available to them, which support full and active participation within CCPR’s parks, facilities, and programs. CCPR believes every individual has the right to participate in activities and programs that supports their physical, mental, social and emotional wellness, and therefore contribute to enhancing their overall quality of life. Based on this belief, and CCPR’s vision and mission, we are committed to the provision of services for individuals of all ages, skill and ability levels. This is achieved by identifying and removing barriers in order to serve individual and community needs, as well as to provide quality programs and services accessible to all; such as our many recreational, leisure and education-based programs, volunteer opportunities and interactive public events. CCPR is committed to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act through making reasonable modifications as required by the ADA. Requests for modifications must be made through one of CCPR’s Inclusion Supervisors within 30 days of the start of the program of interest. CCPR will provide reasonable modifications as soon as possible after the commencement of the modification process. Specific criteria will be found on registration documentation. In addition, CCPR is dedicated to nondiscrimination in the provision of programs, services and activities to the public. CCPR will continue to incorporate all consumer feedback, current research and practice knowledge in order to continue meeting and exceeding customer/community satisfaction and to protect and promote access for all for generations to come.
