PROMOTING A CULTURE
INCLUSION A community involves many people and that includes individuals with disabilities. As an organization it is our mission and goal to serve everyone in the community. To us inclusion is a way of life and we truly believe in including everyone.
What's the difference between adaptive and inclusive services?
Adaptive means that some of our programs are geared specifically toward individuals with disabilities. We encourage participation by individuals of all ages, levels, and abilities within our community and believe that everyone should be able to participate and perform at their highest level. Inclusion means that we are one in the same. We have differences, we have similarities, we have needs, but we are going to work together and support each other to make sure everyone is successful. All of our programs are inclusive. Our Inclusion Supervisors conduct assessments to find out what future participant’s needs and capabilities are and what they hope to receive from our programs. We make modifications to meet your needs.
How can I get started with your services when I need modifications?
If you or someone you know are looking to participate in a program or event, you may schedule the assessment with Michelle Yadon, Monon Community Center Inclusion Supervisor, at 317.573.5245 or myadon@carmelclayparks.com. If you are interested in our before and after school program (Extended School Enrichment), you may contact Aimee Rich, ESE Inclusion Supervisor, at 317.843.3866 or arich@carmelclayparks.com. A Request for Modifications Form may be picked up at the Monon Community Center front desk and must be submitted at least one month before participation. CALL 317.848.7275 FOR MORE INFORMATION | 29
ADAPTIVE What is Adaptive Programming? Adaptive programs are geared toward individuals with disabilities. We encourage participation by individuals of all ages and abilities within our community. We believe that everyone should participate in leisure opportunities that allow for performance at their highest level. Did you know ALL of our programs are inclusive?! If you or your family member would like to participate in any program or use our facility, we can make modifications to meet your needs. Requests for modifications must be made at least one month before participation. A Request for Modification form may be picked up at the Monon Community Center front desk or found on our website at carmelclayparks.com.
