PARKS AND THEIR BENEFITS Get outside! Parks serve as a place for friends and family to meet, experience the outdoors, as well as enjoy one another’s company. As a bonus, parks provide health, economic, environmental, and social benefits to the community. Here are just a few benefits of our parks located right here in Carmel.

Lindsay Labas Marketing Manager llabas@carmelclayparks.com

Playgrounds provide health benefits to kids. Swinging on monkey bars, climbing rock walls, playing on ropes, and taking a breezy trip down slides are all activities children can do at a playground. Though kids may not even realize it, they are building endurance, strength, and developing balance and flexibility while having fun! Take your child to a playground and help them stay Founders park active. West Park, Founders Park, River Heritage Park, and Carey Grove Park all feature fun, interactive playgrounds for kids of all ages and abilities. Prairie settings provide environmental benefits to wildlife. Throughout our parks, you may notice tall grass and wonder why it isn’t being mowed. We encourage growth of native wildflowers and grasses to provide habitat for butterflies, birds, and other wildlife. West Park and Central Park are two parks that promote a wildlife Founders park friendly atmosphere. Recreational activities provide social benefits to the active lifestyle individual. Challenge your friend or family member to a game of disc golf. For a more laid back course, head over to Lawrence W. Inlow Park for nine holes of fun. If you’re an avid player looking for a challenge and love competition, then the 18-hole course at Hazel Landing Park is for you. From children to seniors, parks are a place for everyone to enjoy and benefit. We hope to see you outdoors!

Get Started with at the Monon Community Center!

FitLinxx® coaches users through their workout for better safety and form during every exercise. The computer tracks your progress over time. • Track your workouts and achievements, both at the fitness center and at home. • Create a personalized workout, see a calculation of calories burned, track your cardio and strength workouts, and participate in online communities. • Meet individually with one of our knowledgeable instructors who will guide you through the whole workout session and teach you how to get started (sessions last one hour). Stop by the FitLinxx® desk at the MCC Fitness Center to make your appointment. There, you will find a binder where you can choose the date and time for your FitLinxx® appointment. Just pencil in your name and you are ready to go! Questions? Contact Mary Evens, Fitness Supervisor, at mevans@carmelclayparks.com or 317.573.5249.
