CDS Summer Day Camps CDS Summer Day Camps offer all-day themed camps running from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. for students entering grades 1 through 8. These camps provide opportunities for children to explore their imagination and develop skills during the summer weeks. These all-day camps are $225 per week. Purchase a before/aftercare package at $60 per week (or $12 per day) and drop your child off as early as 7:30 a.m. or pick up as late as 5:30 p.m. The online registration deadline for camp is the Wednesday prior to the camp start date! We are excited that our lunch program will be using EVOS, which can be pre-ordered online at budurl.com/CDSCamp All lunches are freshly made and delivered daily, priced at $8. (Lunch through EVOS will be available Monday - Thursday) NO CAMPS JULY 1st - 5th!

May 28 - July 26 Atlantis Week: May 28 - May 31 (no camp on Memorial Day) Hold your breath and dive with us into the advanced civilization of Atlantis. This underwater week includes sea animal crafts, oceanic themed games and team building activities that will teach students about the interesting history of Atlantis! Animal Planet Week: June 3 - June 7 This week we are getting WILD! Learn about your favorite outdoor friends, play animal themed games and paint your face to resemble your favorite beast. Game Show Week: June 10 - June 14 We know your child is a winner, so “Come on Down” to CDS’ very own Game Show week. Students will face-off in “Friendly Feud,” duel each other in our version of Nickelodeon’s Double Dare and end the week challenging our counselors to see who is smarter than a 5th grader. Bring your best sportsmanship and come game with us!

No Camps July 1 - 5 Buccaneers Week: June 17 - June 21 Ahoy Matey! Let your inner buccaneer run free this week! We will search for gold to fill up our very own treasure chests, decode pirate maps and snack on some Pirate’s Booty Popcorn while watching “The Goonies” during this week full of adventure. Going Green Week: June 24 - June 28 Join us in a week of learning how to reduce our carbon footprints. We will be making organic tie-dye tee shirts, tapping into our artistic side with our recycled art contest and planting shrubs on campus. Party in the USA Week: July 8 - July 12 The Fourth of July isn’t over just yet! Enjoy red, white and blue treats all week long and join us in some patriotic backyard games. We end our week with a good old-fashioned All-American cookout and water balloon fight! Move and Groove Week: July 15 - July 19 Let’s DANCE and let’s MOVE! This week is all about getting into the groove. From sports and dance to activities that will get our feet moving. Students will be sure to have a jamming good time! Out of this World Week: July 22 - July 26 Our campers are out of this world and so are we this week! We will see what it takes to become an astronaut, make our zero gravity bouncy balls and travel through the stars while avoiding asteroids. _______________________________________________________________ Refund Policy - Prior to May 17, 2019 full refunds are available. CDS Enrichment Camps

CDS Enrichment Camps offer a variety of programs for your child to choose from! They are for students entering grades 1-12, depending on the program. Choose from art to athletics to science to technology! You can even combine these programs with our Summer Half Day Camp for only $150 more. Enrollment for camp will end on the Wednesday prior to the camp start date.

Morning Camps - 9:00 am - 12:00 pm ARTSE Camp: Rising 1st - 8th 9:00am - 12:00pm | $185 Students will explore Art through Reasoning, Technology, Science and Engineering. Through the lens of an artist, students will embark on experiential learning as they use a variety of media and accept new challenges in multiple disciplines to create compelling art projects that will inspire a love of learning. Language and Literature: Rising 6th - 8th 9:00am - 12:00pm | $175 Students will read and examine short stories of various genres. Using different forms of writing, they will reflect on their reading, discover new vocabulary and polish their grammar skills. t

Lego STEM Camp: Rising 1st - 5th 9:00am - 12:00pm | $185 Lego STEM Camp is designed to provide students with an enjoyable activity that stimulates and develops spatial intelligence. Students will build vehicles, buildings, gears and whatever else leaps into their imaginations! This camp is a chance to offer your child a time to relax, create, innovate and collaborate.

Test Prep Boot Camp: Rising 9th - 11th 9:00am - 12:00pm | $175 Students will engage with both Math and Language and Literature instructors through in-class/online training to increase familiarity with and participate in deliberate practice of SAT/ACT type questions. Take a practice test, learn how to evaluate that test for improvement, and work through practice questions with the assistance of instructors and Khan Academy. Students will set goals for achievement based on their ideal college choices and will learn testing strategies to help bolster their scores to new heights! Enhance strengths, eliminate weaknesses, and increase scores. t

Science Exploration - STEM: Rising 1st - 3rd 12:30pm - 3:30pm | $185 Each session is filled with exciting, hands-on experiences using Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Kids will imagine, collaborate, explore and create various challenges each day.

Exciting Elementary Spanish Camp: Rising 3rd - 5th | 12:30pm - 3:30pm | $175 Do you want to have fun this summer while you immerse yourself in a new language and culture? If so, Elementary Spanish Camp is for you!! We will be using innovative and interactive learning tools, and other exciting hands on methods! Some examples include a Spanish Battle Royal style game show, while designing our own Fortnite style characters. This will all take place while learning and improving your Espanol! We will work on speaking, reading, writing in Spanish as well as exploring tradition through food, dance, music and more!

Speech and Debate: Rising 8th - 12th 12:30pm - 3:30pm | $175 Do you like to act/perform? Debate? Or both? Speech & Debate is for YOU! This camp is a fantastic opportunity for students interested in competing in Speech & Debate tournaments at their school. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. Speech events are individual or duo performances, and Debate events include Student Congress or one-on-one debate. Students will be able to try various events to learn where they would like to focus and begin to perfect their skills. Students who participate in Speech & Debate in high school also have the chance to join the National Speech & Debate Honors Society (PI KAPPA DELTA) by competing at local, state and national tournaments throughout the school year.

Theater Production- Annie: Rising 4th - 10th 9:00am - 3:30pm | $600 This is a 2-week production camp beginning June 3rd and continuing through June 14th. Students will stage a mini musical and take part in the creation of costumes, sets and characters. This camp will allow the students to create a costume piece, help design the set backdrops and learn the foundations of creating a musical. They will learn lines, dances and songs. It will be an in-depth study into creating a musical. *Please note that each student must be at the camp for a FULL DAY for the full 2 weeks. A minimum of 20 students is needed for this camp. t

Teen Rec Camp: Rising 6th - 8th 9:00am - 3:30pm | $300 Travel off campus and enjoy the different experiences that the area has to offer. The schedule will be based on location availability, but activities will include: go karting, horseback riding, Clearwater beach, trampoline gyms, laser tag, Rays games, movies, etc. The schedule will vary from week to week, so sign-up for multiple weeks to get the most out of the summer.

Tracy Sweet (CDS Learning Specialist) will teach fluency, comprehension and writing strategies with a fun interactive approach. This camp is tailored to meet all student-learning needs while fostering a love of literacy. MYP Boot Camp: Rising 6th - 8th 9:00am - 12:00pm | $185 Get down to basics by preparing for MYP Language/ Literature and Mathematics. With the help of experienced teachers, students will split their time in both subject areas exploring fundamentals and skills in both math and English. Concepts in Language/Literature We will explore various forms of writing such as expository, descriptive, and persuasive. Also, we will be reading a variety of short stories/excerpts while picking out literary devices and themes. Students will also brush up on their presentation skills and grammar rules by applying them to their writings. Creative Writing: Rising 6th - 12th 12:30pm - 3:30pm | $175 Fun and challenging week long camp designed for middle and high school students to develop their imaginative skills and hone their craft for writing poetry, fiction, nonfiction, or playwriting. Students learn and practice how writers draw on research and real life experience for their stories. The creative writing experience will also help students to improve their academic writing skills. The instructor has self-published three books, is working on a fourth, and has been a life-long writer of poetry and lyrics. He is looking forward to sharing his hobby with all those interested in developing their writing and publishing their work. t

Week 2: June 10 - June 14 Game Design: Rising 1st - 8th 12:30pm - 3:30pm |$165 Students will experience a fun week of learning game development software that will have them making their own 2D video games in minutes. The only prerequisite is for them to bring their imagination and unleash their creativity. This is a great way to introduce your child to programing and game development without being bogged down with learning how to code. This camp was a hit last summer and we are bringing it back with different software and even more advanced game play and design. t

Namaste: Yoga & Journaling: Rising 2nd - 8th 12:30pm - 3:30pm | $150 Yoga and Journaling truly complement one another. In both, we are able to process thoughts, feel authentically and reflect. Babysitting 101: Ages 11 - 18 9:00am - 12:00pm | $180 This course will teach our students all the basic skills needed to be a great babysitter! Topics include; age characteristics of children, behavior management, general infant and toddler care, play ideas, safety issues and what to do in emergency situations. Our sitters-in-the-making will also learn how to find sitting jobs and how to work with parents to ensure success. Friday includes CPR class and students will walk away with their CPR certification.

Buncee Boot Camp: Rising 3rd - 7th 9:00am - 12:00pm | $175 During this incredibly fun-filled week of technology, students will have the opportunity to experience and explore the impressive Buncee canvas. Campers will learn how to create media-rich projects, digital stories, presentations, lessons and so much more. Students will also have an opportunity to meet the brilliant Buncee Team while taking a virtual field trip to Buncee’s headquarters. Don’t Let your Computer Control You: Rising 6th - 8th 9:00am - 12:00pm | $175 This camp is designed for students entering middle school with their own laptops. Campers will learn the basics of how to use their new laptops and gain a leg up for entering their middle school years. Some of the many topics covered range from how to send an email, mastering Google Drive, how to organize a laptop, and many more! This camp is perfect for incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who are using a laptop for the first time. t

Slime Camp: A Slime for all Seasons: Rising 3rd - 8th 9:00am - 12:00pm | $165 Slime Camp is back with a slime for all seasons! At Slime Camp, students will learn the science behind slime while making 10 different types of slimes. Whether it’s clear, metallic, glitter, fishbowl, kinetic or glossy, it can be scented, poked, pulled, kneaded, squashed, and even turned into art! Some consider it the most relaxing hobby to embrace this year. Let CDS deal with the mess!

Afternoon Camps - 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm Active Reading and Test Taking: Rising 4th 12:30pm - 3:30pm | $175 Looking to improve reading comprehension and test taking skills? Avoid that summer slide with this crash course in Active Reading and Test Taking Skills. In this course, you learn how to be a close and careful reader as well as a active reader through the use of the 4 “Active Reading” steps. Also, you will learn effective test taking reading strategies that will prepare you for the MAP tests, as well as classroom tests. Learn all of this within a fun and collaborative way! Spanish Conversation Camp: Rising 6th - 12th 12:30pm - 3:30pm | $175 This camp aims to create lifelong language learners through the development of listening and speaking the Spanish language. The camp offers a rigorous but fun 3-hour language immersion experience for students who are passionate about learning a language and gaining cultural understanding. Students take a Language Pledge to speak in Spanish while engaging in meaningful cultural exploration projects based on movies and audiovisual age-appropriate materials.

Baseball: Rising 1st - 8th 9:00am - 12:00pm | $150 Campers will learn offensive & defensive baseball skills and strategies. CDS baseball camp is the perfect program for both first time ball players and those who want to enhance their skills for a higher level of play. Every camper will leave Friday afternoon with an improved skill set and an enjoyment of the great game of baseball. Cheerleading: Rising 1st - 5th 9:00am - 12:00pm | $150 Come enjoy a week of dancing, cheering and stunting techniques. Campers will learn a short routine. They will also have the opportunity to perform that routine in front of all the parents on Friday!

CSI Forensic Science for Kids: Rising 3rd - 8th 9:00am - 3:30pm | $310 Criminals beware and kids prepare during this week-long super fun and educational crime scene investigation camp! Students will enjoy collecting and studying dental impressions and fingerprints of their fellow forensic campers. They will be checking tool marks left at the scene of a crime, analyzing mysterious powders and discovering hidden clues in counterfeit checks, just to name a few of the amazing activities. Making Meaning: Rising 1st -2nd 9:00am - 12:00pm | $175 Avoid the “summer slide” as students work to develop as readers AND as caring, collaborative people. Students’ academic learning flourishes when social learning is integrated into the curriculum. Making Meaning focuses on reading comprehension strategies that research shows good readers use to make sense of texts. This camp will be FUN and educational. This course is designated to advance the abilities to future scientists, doctors and engineers. Weeks 1 - 6 (6/03/19 - 7/19/19) Chemistry: Rising 10th (6 week course) 12:30pm - 3:30pm | $2600 Chemistry is the study of physical sciences that uses a quantitative approach to emphasize problem-solving techniques while seeking an understanding of how matter behaves. Topics to be covered are wide-ranging and include basic metric units and measurements, atomic structure, mole theory, chemical formulae and equations, the periodic table, as well as bonding and electron configurations. Classroom assignments and assessments will include cooperative group activities, research from a variety of sources, laboratory experiments (both student and instructor designed), and traditional assessments both formative and summative (tests, quizzes). This summer class is geared towards students of the class of 2022 who are interested in non-science career paths. Please be aware that students who take this class will not be eligible to take DP chemistry in 11th and 12th grade. Spanish: Rising 8th - 10th (6 week course) 9:00am - 12:00pm | $2600 This is a 6-week course for students with no previous exposure to Spanish or with little knowledge of the language. It will comprise the content of the Spanish I course. The course will give the students the opportunity to develop the basic listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through a communicative approach to the Hispanic language and culture. Conducted primarily in Spanish, the students will have two hours of classroom instruction plus one hour of independent research activities. This course offers the basic grammar elements and vocabulary of themes that students need to know in order to continue working on superior levels of the language. At the end of this course, the students will be able to perform oral and written exercises, use their cognitive abilities to analyze and understand the basic grammatical rules, and strengthen their memory in familiar discussed topics. t

Weeks 5 - 7 (7/08/19 - 7/26/19) Design Tech: Rising 9th - 10th (3 week course) 9:00am - 3:30pm | $2600 MYP Design Technology camp is a full-credit course that will guide students through the design process using the Design Cycle. The course is geared for rising 9th and 10th grade students who want to fulfill their MYP Design credit for the upcoming school year to enable them to further pursue other interests. Students will work on design projects using a variety of different tools and resources and will come away with new marketable skills.

Please note: Classes are held Monday – Friday with the exception of July 1 – 5. Please plan family vacation and travel accordingly. CDS follows a strict attendance policy for courses offered over the summer. (6 – week courses: 4 absences; 3 – week courses: 2 absences; Review Courses: 2 absences.
