CDS Summer Day Camps

The CDS Summer Camp Program offers half-day themed camps running from 12:00 p.m. until 2020 3:30 p.m. for students entering grades 1 through 8. These camps provide opportunities for children to explore their imagination and develop skills during the summer weeks. These half -day camps are $150 per week. Purchase a before/aftercare package at $60 per week (or $12 per day) and drop your child off as early as 7:30 a.m. or pick up as late as 5:30 p.m. *Before care is only available to campers enrolled in morning enrichment camps. t

The online registration deadline for camp is the Wednesday prior to the camp start date! We are excited that our lunch program will be using EVOS, which can be pre-ordered online at cdspatriots.org/CDSCamps. All lunches are freshly made and delivered daily, priced at $8. (Lunch through EVOS will be available Monday - Thursday) NO CAMPS JUNE 29-JULY 3.

Join us to learn how to read secret code, solve riddles, find a perfect hiding spot, and make a secret agent badge. Bring your spy gear and be ready to find some clues! Jungle Safari Week: June 8 - June 12 Lions and tigers and bears! Oh My! Come on a safari with us and learn everything from animal calls to life at the zoo. Learn about all different habitats and experience the vast smörgåsbord of plant and animal life on our planet. Space Station Vacation Week: June 15 - June 19 3, 2, 1…Blast-off! Learn about the solar system through hands-on activities involving the planets, stars and moon. Explore the fascinating world of science and technology through hands-on experiments, games, arts & crafts and more.

Mad Science Week: June 22 - June 26 In this introductory science camp, participants will explore the fun and wacky world of science by doing a variety of experiments, exploring different substances and building small structures. By the end of the week, your child will be the next Jimmy Neutron!

No Camps June 29 - July 3 Move and Groove Week: July 6 - July 10 Let’s DANCE and Let’s MOVE! This week is all about getting into the groove. From sports and dance to activities that will get our feet moving, students will be sure to have a jamming good time! H2 OH YEAH ! Week: July 13- July 17 Don’t let the heat stop you! This will be one wild, wet and water filled week! Pack your swimsuit and sunscreen as we enjoy this week filled with extreme water games and activities! The Red Carpet Week: July 20 - July 24 This week will give you something to SING about! We will be wrapping up our CDS summer with everything from The Grammys to the Academy Awards! It’s your time to shine!

CDS Enrichment Camps CDS Enrichment Camps offer a variety of programs for your child to choose from! They are for students entering grades 1-12, depending on the program. Choose from art to athletics to science to technology!

Enrollment for camp will end on the Wednesday prior to the camp start date. *Complete the day with afternoon day camp.

Week 1: June 1 - June 5

Morning Camps - 9:00 am - 12:00 pm Math & English Review: Sapna Patel & Stacey Frankel | Rising 6th - 9th 9:00am - 1:00pm | $235 Students will be able to get a jump-start on their summer work in both Math and English. This program will be divided between English and Math. In English, students will read short stories and write about what they read. The focus will be on reading strategies, picking out literary devices, vocabulary in context, and reviewing grammar. In Math, students will focus on pre-algebra and algebra skills, as well as word problems with math concepts. At the end of the week, each student will receive feedback on areas they need to work on in both Math and English over the remainder of the summer. *This camp is 4 hours long. t

CDS Football Camp: Mark Jones | Rising 6th - 8th (Middle School) 9:00am - 12:00pm | $150 Whether your athlete is just starting football or is an experienced player, this camp will provide an atmosphere for learning and becoming a better football player. The coaches at CDS will teach the athletes correct technique, teamwork, discipline and the importance of on field and off field decisions. Our experienced coaches will teach individual and team drills on both offense and defense. We will build your athlete’s confidence and help improve their football IQ.

CDS Lower School Basketball Camp: Colin DeHate | Rising 1st - 5th (Elementary) 9:00am - 12:00pm | $150 Elementary Basketball Skills Camp at CDS is specifically designed for the younger athlete. This camp is a great starting point for boys and girls who are looking to learn the fundamentals of basketball in an organized and fun way. Each day will include instruction in shooting, defense, team skills, and then the application of those skills into camp games. The Color Express Art Camp: Jennifer Houston | Rising K - 5th 9:00am - 12:00pm | $165 Let your child explore their creativity this summer with The Color Express Summer Art Camp! Working with recipes, campers are exposed to literacy, sequencing, following directions, measurements and having FUN while doing it.

Debate tournaments with their school. Speech events are individual or duo performances, and Debate events include Student Congress or one-on-one debate. Students will be able to try various events to learn where they would like to focus and begin to perfect their skill. Students who participate in Speech & Debate in high school also have the chance to join the National Speech & Debate Honor Society (PI KAPPA DELTA) by competing at local, state, and national tournaments throughout the school year.

CDS Volleyball Camp: Tonia & Madison Jenkins | Rising 3rd - 5th (Elementary) 12:30pm - 3:30pm | $150 This half day camp is for elementary girls who are interested in learning skills to play volleyball. At this camp, we will be using the volley-lite volleyball which is a few ounces less than the official volleyball. This will allow the players to learn good form from the beginning without having to over-compensate body movements to pass, hit, set or serve. Players will be given instruction for these skills while engaging in fun drills and games.

Game Design Camp: Seth Firestone | Rising 1st - 8th 12:30pm - 3:30pm | $165 Has your child ever dreamed of creating his or her own video game? Over the years, video games have gone from a hobby to a multi-billion dollar industry. Now your child can unleash their creativity and experience a fun week of learning game development software that will have them making their own video games in minutes. The only prerequisite is for them to bring their imagination and unleash their creativity. You Can Cook Vegan Camp: Angela Ruth | Rising 5th - 8th 9:00am - 12:00pm | $165 We all know there are health benefits to going vegan, but did you know that vegan dishes can be quite delicious and easy to make? Come along on a vegan journey where participants will learn to make sumptuous deli dishes, yummy wraps, fantastically nutritious smoothies, tasty dips, and amazing salads too. Many of the dishes campers learn how to make will have an ethnic influence from South America, the Mediterranean, and Asia. You don’t have to be a Vegan to participate, but you may want to eat vegan a few times a week after you learn how easy it is! t

World History: Paul Jannereth | Rising 10th - 11th 9:00am - 12:00pm | $2600 World History Honors is a full credit course that introduces students to the theories, themes, events, and characters that have shaped the known history of humankind from pre-history until today. We will examine diverse global perspectives, use primary source documents, and develop an understanding of the story of humankind. Through our intensive exploration of multiple major historical periods, students will complete this course with the depth and breadth of historical understanding required to make sense of our modern, complex world. *This is a for-credit course (1 credit) Middle School Academic Skills: Jamie Kiner | Rising 6th - 8th 9:00am - 12:00pm | $2400 This 6- week long middle school academic skills course will focus on reading, writing, and math, and will provide existing middle school students as well as rising 6th grade students the opportunity to engage in MYP curriculum and strengthen their skills throughout the summer months. This course will be presented in a blended format, comprised of both face-to-face and online sessions. The following skills that provide a solid foundation to the middle school Language and Literature and Mathematics curricula will be taught/ reviewed: • Learning strategies that assist in the comprehension and analysis of different genres of text • Persuasive, expository, and narrative writing • Organizational structures for writing, from topic sentences to detailing, developing, and effectively expressing writing content and intention

• Strategies to increase and improve vocabulary • Operations with fractions and decimals • Place value with fractions and decimals • Math facts • Percentages • Expressions • ·Basic solving for x

Explore Italy with CDS in Summer 2021! CDS will partner with EFI Educational Tours to offer this unique 2021 summer (late June/early July) learning experience. Space is limited and enrollment will be on a first come, first served basis. Students can earn a 0.5 Art History Credit by completing an accompanying online course. Enrollment is now open.
