Suburban Fields Provide an Opportunity to Present Living Complexity
" I like complexity and contradiction in architecture. I do not like the incoherence or arbitrariness of incompetent architecture nor the precious intricacies of picturesqueness or expressionism. "
- Robert Venturi, ComplexityandContradiction inArchitecture
With time passing by, the urban territory keeps expanding. Various features of a city start to be brought to the suburban areas, which caused that boundaries between an urban and a suburban get more and more ambiguous. In other words, they become more amd more similar.

Urban Zoning Discipline vs. Suburban Complexity
Due to the discipline of urban zoning, the living condition in a city were very similar or bored. Perfect urban zoning rules start to restrict everyone’s living or social environment. Suburban, on the other hand, shows a highly complex and flexible living condition because of an incomplete planning background.
Rude Replacement Strategy for Taipei City's Expansion
The situation that suburban fields would be seen as the hinterland of a city is unstoppable. Moreover, a large number of abandoned factories and facilities in the suburban becomes a perfect filed to replace with new business district. That is, the whole replacement strategy is the easiest and the most common way to expand the territory of Taipei city.
New Business District? We don't think so...
In our opinion, we kind of agree to the fact about urban expansion and consider suburban as a part of the city. However, we propose an assumption that previous suburban living experience shouldn’t be erased instantly after the replacement. The living scenery in suburbans shouldn't be replaced with a new but bored business district.

Nangang Periphery Environment
Due to the previous history policy, as an industrial outskirt, lots of superscale institution were collected in Nangang, including factories, railway workshops, and even military campings. All of these large scale institution shapes the urbab fiber of Nangang today.
With the urban expending these years, lots of those facilities became useless, and would be replaced by new urban elements, which includes center business district, hotels, and luxury resiential according to the government's planning.

Multiple Ground Strategy
A ground platform provides residents enough space to progress their events. The reveal of multiple ground gives different public space to use, including opened park and semiprivate acticities. Moreover, raising the volume up to create a totally free circulation, allowing people explore the suburban fields and events.
Typical Ground Zoning Condition
Cities nowadays follows the discipline of urban zoning, which means that every movements are in order, lacking of any other flexibility.
Free Ground Conditon
Rather than well-planning situation, a free ground condition invents the new way to explode a vast land by free circulation and organic programing. Different functions pop up in various places, which allow residents access easily and start to bring the various everyday-ness events.

As the new planning of conservation area, the proposal should be able to connect all the periphery fabric from past industry to nowadays. In the north of site provides an abundant amount of programing overlapping on different ground level. The south side, on the other hand, creates a massive green open space to allow the people, not residents limited, access to use the field of sububan. The story in this site starts become different from the way it was planned before, which was a luxury and bored business district. Boulevard provides people a truly use right of road, and new neighbourhood model makes residents have no limitation with visitors but keep some private at the same time thanks to the elevated public ground platform.

Responsive Flexible Structure
Weaving technique makes it possible to manufacture a flexible structure.
However, due to the scale and the complexity, weaving structure is difficult to be applied in an practical architecture design without a robotic arm.
To control the flexibility of a larger-scale weaving structure system, a program of robotic weaving was seen as a solution. We try to translate the traditional weaving to a robotic weaving language in various ways, such as materials, methods, weaving tech, and machine. In our robotic weaving program, various weaving units which support different loads can be found to apply on all prototypes, like a wall, a floor,or a chair.

New Instrument Design Task
Eventhough the PLA printing is now a common technology in 3D printing, it is still challenging to print by a robotic arm since we need to find a suitable machine to print, design how to hold the tool with robotic arm, and, moreover, improve the original tool, etc.
For instance, in case our extrusion nozzle crashed what had printed, we decieded to design a whole new one lengthened nozzle.
30

Over all the processes, the first procedure after weaving is to detect possible removable structures by their angles, responding the force direction. After that, select the certain length structure to remove in order to control the deformation level.
To keep from crashing printed things when moving, it’s important to arrange the order. It seems to be a great order to print by the Z-level. In other words, the same Z-level groups will print first then from bottom to top. In the same Z-level group, more vertical structure will be priority processing to avoid crashing what had printed.

Force Analysis and Deformation
This program and the new robotic weaving technique can be applied to almost all prototypes which need to do load-carrying task. By analyzing force dirrection and needed deformation level, responsive nodes amount and strucuture would be generated automatically through parametric operation.

Implementation in Architecture Environment
The project can create sufficient flexibility to users so that a wall or other elements of architecture could be soft and flexible in the future. Meanwhile, flexibility can be controled by removing certain pipes. Which means that deformation length can be adjusted easily by giving multiple numbers of angle filter.

Central District History Context
As the most prosperous area before, Taichung's central district involves residents' memory. Nowadays, however, it seems to disappear since there's no more young people staying here or any new building was constructed here.
Eventhough there's some hot spots are located in this district discretely and even the new Taichung station, people always come here only for those certain spots and then leave. How to connect the relationships between the new hot spots and those dead areas would be a tough and main task in this project.

Architecture After a Disaster : The Rise of Sea Level
How would the architecture have become after a disaster happened in the future?
Due to the progressive global warming, the rise of sea level is clearly predictable. Architects need to rethink the living spaces in the future. Moreover, the polluted water is difficult for people to use. Meanwhile, it seems more important
to think about the representation of human history and social relationships rather than redesigning a whole new urban.
This program provides not only sufficient living spaces floating on the water but also complete communities equiping perfect living funtions, which represent the human society.

Predictable And Pre-constructible
According to Science Magazine , the speed of sea level rising is faster than predicted. The sea level has climbed approximately 0.2m during the last 100 years. Since the temperature keeps climbing, the sea level seems to jump over 1.4m before 2100s.
What is also noteworthy is that the rise of sea level is a disaster which happens slowly but keeps going, which means architects need to develop a long-run urban planning instead of a temperorary housing. Since the rise of sea level is predictable, we can construct them before the situation getting worse.
Biology to Geometry
It is interesting to note that coral reefs reveal some amazing combination ways. Furthermore, coral reefs are also an important sign of water pollution. As a result, they can be seen as a symbol of ocean to represent the insular (island) characteristics.
