This issue includes articles by well-known specialists who provide a multidisciplinary review of the international scope of the artistic legacy of Al-Andalus and the Mudéjar period up to our times.
The publication is structured on the basis of a discourse amongst ten specialists, from a notably historical focus, including the dual dimension of past and present. Among other topics, the authors analyze the importance of the international scope of Al-Andalus’ artistic legacy and that of the Mudéjar period, throughout the nineteenth century, as well as their representation at the various universal expositions. They also highlight the importance of Spanish designer Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo (1871-1949) as a figure who spread our heritage internationally through his collection of textiles and other pieces from Al-Andalus, inherited from his father, Orientalist painter Mariano Fortuny y Marsal.
