HYMN 686 “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing” Words: Robert Robinson (1758)

Come, thou fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing thy grace; streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet, sung by flaming tongues above. Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it, mount of thy redeeming love. Here I raise my Ebenezer; hither by thy great help I’ve come; and I hope, by thy good pleasure, safely to arrive at home. Jesus sought me when a stranger, wandering from the fold of God; he, to rescue me from danger, interposed his precious blood. O to grace how great a debtor daily I’m constrained to be! Let thy goodness, like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to thee. Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love; here’s my heart, O take and seal it, seal it for thy courts above.

Tune: Nettleton

THE PSALM: Reader:

Psalm 23

Rachel Fryer and Congregation

The Lord is my Shepherd* I shall not want He makes me to lie down in green pastures* He leads me beside the still waters He restores my soul* He leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name sake Yea, thou I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil* For you are with me, your rod and your staff they comfort me You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies* You anoint my head with oil, my cup runs over Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life* And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. People: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

THE FIRST LESSON: Reader:

Ecclesiastes 3:1-15 Tucker Jacobsen

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to throw away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace. What gain have the workers from their toil? I have seen the business that God has given to everyone to be busy with. He has made everything suitable for its time; moreover, he has put a sense of past and future into their minds, yet they cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. I know that there is nothing better for them than to be happy and enjoy themselves as long as they live; moreover, it is God’s gift that all should eat and drink and take pleasure in all their toil. I know that whatever God does endures for ever; nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it; God has done this, so that all should stand in awe before him. That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already is; and God seeks out what has gone by. Reader: People:

The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

THE SECOND LESSON: Reader:

St. Luke 12:22-34

Bianca Caves

Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life?* If then you are not able to do so small a thing as that, why do you worry about the rest? Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith! And do not keep striving for what you are to eat and what you are to drink, and do not keep worrying. For it is the nations of the world that strive after all these things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, strive for his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. ‘Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions, and give alms. Make purses for yourselves that do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Reader: People:

The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

The Congregation and Clerg y will stand and sing a hymn.

HYMN 488 “Be Thou My Vision” Words: Ancient Irish Hymn (700 AD)

Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart, all else be naught to me, save that thou art; thou my best thought by day or by night, waking or sleeping, thy presence my light. Be thou my wisdom and thou my true word, I ever with thee, and thou with me Lord; thou my great Father; thine own may I be; thou in me dwelling, and I one with thee. Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise: thou mine inheritance now and always; thou and thou only the first in my heart; O Sovereign of heaven, my treasure thou art.

Tune: Slane

High King of heaven, when victory is won, may I reach heaven’s joys, bright heaven’s Son! Heart of my heart, whatever befall, still be my vision, O Ruler of all.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. The Chaplain continues,

People: Officiant: People: Officiant: People: Officiant: People: Officiant: People: Officiant: People: Officiant: People:

Show us your mercy, O Lord. And grant us your salvation. Clothe your ministers in righteousness. Let your people sing with joy. Give peace O Lord, in all the world For only in you can we live in safety O Lord, keep this nation under your care. And guide us in the way of Justice and Truth Let your way be known upon the earth; Your saving health among all nations Let not the needy be forgotten; Nor the hope of the poor be taken away. Create in us clean hearts, O God; And sustain us by your Holy Spirit.

The Congregation may sit or kneel. The Chaplain says,

Let us pray.

Loving, liberating, and life-giving God, we stand in your presence, here in this Chapel and with those watching remotely, seeking your blessing for the Class of 2022. We stand in your presence, here in this Chapel and with those watching remotely, seeking your blessing for the Class of 2022. Over the span of their lives these students lived and worked alongside one another, spending days and nights here at Casady School, praying together in this Chapel, in your presence. Lord, they stand ready to cross another threshold. God, you have given them, through family, mentors, teachers, coaches, and friends, so much of what they will need for the next part of their journey. Remind them always that they never travel alone. You, O God, are their never-failing companion, and you will continue to give them everything they need to accomplish your purpose for their lives. Like your servants Abraham and Sarah, you have blessed these young adults. In all their pursuits, may they find ways to bless others, even as they sense that you know them each by their name. Amen. Ms. Joanne Infantino and Mr. Chris Halpern will read the name of each Senior aloud as the Seniors stand and remain standing. After seven names have been read the Chaplain will say, “Lord in your Mercy,” and the Congregation’s response will be “Hear our prayer.” Those seven students will remain standing for their group and then when it is complete, will sit.

The Congregation will please stand, and the Chaplain says,

Almighty God, you have given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplication to you; and you have promised through your well-beloved Son that when two or three are gathered together in his Name, you will be in the midst of them. Fulfill now, O Lord, our desires and petitions as may be best for us; granting us in this world knowledge of your truth, and in the age to come, life everlasting. Amen. The Chaplain says,

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the Love of God the Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all forever. Amen. The Congregation will stand for the singing of the Casady Hymn.

THE CASADY HYMN Lord, in these quiet moments As we greet each new day Kneeling within this Chapel Hear us all as we pray. Give us grace that we may find In each heart and mind Patience, truth and honor Forever more. Lord, in those busy moments When we leave this Altar, When we must face life’s duties, Guide us lest we falter. We must have strength from your hand That this School may stand Always under your care, Grant our prayer. Amen.

THE BLESSING The Bishop says,

The Blessing of Almighty God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit remain with you now and always. Amen. Following the Blessing, the Congregation will remain standing for the exiting procession by the Seniors, Faculty, Administration, and Clerg y.
