Water Ways:

More than 100 lakes and 450 miles of pristine rivers and streams within an hour’s drive of Sunriver.

Central Oregon’s Fish:

Lake Trout, Bull Trout, Cutthroat Trout, Native Redband Trout, Kokanee, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Brook Trout, Mountain Whitefish and Large and Smallmouth Bass. Size: Common to catch ten-pound trout. The state record for a Brown Trout is 28.5 pounds caught at Paulina Lake.

Locals’ Advice on Fishing Holes:

Rainbow Trout: Prevalent in most of the lakes and rivers with Crane Prairie, Wikiup and East Lake presenting trophy opportunities. Brown Trout: Deschutes River, Wickiup, East Lake and Paulina Lake. Brook Trout: Available in many local waters. They grow quite large in Hosmer Lake, Crane Prairie and the Upper Deschutes River. Mountain Whitefish: Found throughout the region, a native to Central Oregon. Large and Smallmouth Bass: Prineville Reservoir, Crane Prairie and Davis Lake.

Sunriver Anglers Club

Founded in 1977, the Sunriver Anglers Club brings together like-minded individuals to protect the natural environment, conserve resources, educate and encourage new fishing enthusiasts, enjoy outdoor activities and exchange fish stories.

The Sunriver Anglers Club invites community members to its monthly meetings to discuss topics ranging from fly patterns and fly selection to fishing tactics and habitat restoration projects.
