Outstanding Ambassadors The Castle Rock Chamber honors Jonathan Wells as our January Ambassador of the Month.
The Castle Rock Chamber honors Joe Blakely as our February Ambassador of the Month. In addi%on to this honor, Joe was recently recognized as our Ambassador of the Year for 2015.
A na%ve of Colorado and a resident of Douglas County for 18 years, Jonathan Wells found his true calling when he was Jonathan Wells presented with an Home Care Assistance of opportunity to be coDouglas County owner and Care Administrator for Home Care Assistance.
Joe Blakely became an ambassador Joe Blakely with the Castle Kaiser Permanente Rock Chamber of Commerce in 2014 and has really enjoyed the addi%onal opportuni%es it gives him to connect with the community and meet new people. Being an ambassador at the Chamber also allows Joe to be an ambassador for Kaiser Permanente in the community. This is important, because many people s%ll don't realize they can purchase Kaiser Permanente coverage as an individual and don't have to get it through an employer. Now that Kaiser Permanente has a medical office in Castle Rock and their Specialty office in Lone Tree, Kaiser Permanente is more convenient than ever.
He developed a strong customer-oriented background in accoun%ng management in the hotel industry, which has carried over into his current role as owner and Care Administrator for Home Care Assistance. Being in the service industry has taught him that strong rela%onships and constant communica%on are at the core of every success story. That’s why he finds the chamber to be a great tool for local businesses. “It is a fantas%c feeling to know that, as Care Administrator, I can have an impact in helping those in my community stay as independent as possible. I love our innova%ve care methods and I love the challenge of living up to our mo6o: Changing the Way the World Ages.”
When Joe and his wife Angie moved to Castle Rock in 1988, he knew the town was very special and wanted to become more involved in the community. He had a health insurance agency in town for many years and was a member of the Chamber because of the opportuni%es it gave him to meet people he could help with their health insurance needs.

Developing Leaders in Douglas County Building County
Community
Leadership—Leadership
Douglas
Leadership Douglas County (LDC), now in its 17th year, helps emerging and recognized leaders who are seeking to make a posi%ve impact on their community, expand their skills, enhance their knowledge of local and state issues and increase their effec%veness as ci%zens and business peoples in Douglas County. Par%cipants are given the opportunity to discover how they can affect their community, and lead effec%vely, as an individual and as part of a group, to make Douglas County a be6er place to live and work. In January, the class explored Economic Development, Transporta%on and Master Plan, providing par%cipants with informa%on and insight into the factors that impact Douglas County economic development and how transporta%on (ground and air transit) and master planning are key factors in a strong economy. In February, LDC class members experienced the diversity of educa%onal services in Douglas County and the evolving landscape of 21st Century learning. The role of libraries in our culture, and specifically in Douglas County, goes beyond the tradi%onal civic spaces as staff occupy leadership posi%ons in the community and the library supports crea%ve learning opportuni%es, events and celebra%ons that are meaningful to residents. A visit and tour with Lisa Rigsby Peterson at the Lone Tree Arts Center and an aSernoon spent at Valor Chris%an High School’s new Valor Center for Culture and Influence allowed the class to walk away with a be6er understanding of the educa%on op%ons, libraries, their staffs and the community as par%cipants work together to bring arts, literacy and all forms of life-long learning into our community. Program Goals of LDC: • Engage, support, and mobilize leaders to make a posi%ve difference in their community • Expand each par%cipant’s scope of awareness regarding cri%cal issues, systems and opportuni%es within Douglas County • Increase the leadership effec%veness of each par%cipant • Offer an experience that is interac%ve, promotes dialogue, team-building and trust • Create connec%ons with influen%al community leaders who are shaping our region’s future Applica%ons for the 2016-17 year are now being accepted. Visit LeadershipDougasCounty.org for more informa%on on the program. To visit one of the remaining 2015-16 monthly classes (first Wednesdays), please contact Carrie at 720.440.3726 or email info@LeadershipDouglasCounty.com.
