The feast of the Sea The KOUZINA culinary festival KOUZINA is the premier culinary event of the year in Eastern Halkidiki! In the shadow of the sacred Athos, in the cove of the bay of Mount Athos, on the sandy Ammouliani Island, at the foot of the Aristotelian mountain, in the Strymonikos bay, in the Akantios Bay, on the verges of Cholomontas, we invite you to smell and taste our organic products and flavours in a magnificent culinary feast, in which you participate as of this day! The restaurant “Stratoni Leschi (club)” A name - legend for a local society that “wrote brilliant pages” in the local cultural history. Indeed, “Stratoni Leschi” has always been the gastronomic and cultural reference point for the locals, who – for six decades – have been meeting each other in the large hall, drinking their coffee, playing cards, enjoying ouzo lunches or dinners, taking part in famous balls, in unforgettable cosmopolitan celebrations, in official dinners, in business offerings, in thematic celebrations, in theatrical performances, in musical events and so much more... Its name is connected with the emblematic presence of Mrs. Vangelio, who advanced her cooking expertise to such a level that it turned by itself viral, cooking tirelessly for her customers, knowing the choice of everyone, taking care of each dish and satisfying every demand. Her glorified specialties were so many: “soutzoukakia”, cod fish with garlic sauce, pot roast, mussel risotto, cuttlefish stew ... - the list seems to be really endless! The same and dozens different recipes are prepared and currently offered at the restaurant by her daughters - Angeliki and Tasoula - who perpetuate the tradition and their mother’s gastronomical heritage. Above all, the family of Mrs. Vangelio offers to those who visit the restaurant not only generous and heartfelt hospitality but also unforgettable gastronomic delights, making them feeling members of the small but cozy local society. Marinated gavros*, served with hot beetroot salad and vinaigrette from petimezi Small pies with sardine crème and tomato sauce Mussels** from Olympiada in tsipouro sauce, served with kritama and paprika Fish-balls* Tower from eggplants, zucchini, local feta cheese and melted cheese Spring salad Pasta with scampi* Fish* cooked like “plaki” with avgolemono sause (*The fish and seafood of Mount Athos are renowned for their exquisite flavor. The reason they are so different from the rest is that the waters of the bay are deep and clean, as the area has many sea currents and there are no organized cultivations to affect it. Thus, our seafood is caught in very deep waters, with the highest salinity in Greece, and rich in plankton and clean food, since no rivers or streams end up in the bay to disturb the balance of the water composition) (** Olympiada is famous for its mussels’ production. The clean water of Strimonikos gulf, the Aristotelian Mountain with the rich vegetation, the virgin environment, the content of the sea water make the Olympiada mussels delicious, big, heavy, strong and healthy)
