We would like to personally invite you to join us on March 11th for our 4th Annual Bull Sale, at the ranch south of Sedalia. Hannah and Olivia are continuing to focus on their Black Angus herd (Wildflower Angus). The bulls they are consigning this year, are all two-yearolds. These bulls are born the end of April to the first of June. Their cows run with the Desertland herd for the winter with the same goals in mind.
We have bred high maternal cows that exceed in longevity. Longevity to us means efficient, maintenancefree, natural-fleshing, and fertile cattle that are correct with sound feet and legs, tight-uddered with small teats, with adequate milk that constantly wean off heavy calves each year.
This year the bulls were weaned the start of October with the excellent fall grazing we left them on the cows a couple weeks longer. The bulls have been on an oat, silage, and tub-ground ration. We don’t pamper the bulls. They are developed on a high-roughage ration for longevity, and not maximum gain. By not force-feeding these bulls you can be assured they will be sound, athletic, and ready to breed cows. This year we have worked with Bull’s Eye Feeds, to test the feed, and build a complete supplement to ensure the bulls maintain healthy development from weaning to bull sale.
You can count on Desertland bulls to deliver valuable pounds in growth, and feed performance. Our cattle work for us, work for others, and will work for you!
The entire Desertland Cattle cow herd, and bull pen are on a full vaccine and herd health program. All bulls in the sale will have their Footrot vaccine.
If you are unable to attend the sale but would like to bid on bulls or heifers, we encourage you to call prior to the sale. We have sale day staff that will handle your bids with confidentiality. Please call with any questions so we can help you make your next bull selection.
This has turned into a family ranching operation with the ladies being the 5th generation to raise cattle. We spend much of our time moving cattle on horses, and taking the time to enjoy the ranch way of life. We are grateful for the time we get spend together as a family. We look forward to visiting with you on Sale Day!
See you March 11th 5 pm!

5M is the darkest tan bull we have on offer. His mother comes from a cow we purchased from TriN in their dispersal. 209 and her mother 109H are as nice a red cows as you can find in the Charolais breed.

Long Distance was a embryo calf that we purchased several years ago from Acadia Ranching. He was a calving expert. We sold him a couple years ago cause we had to many females retained in our herd. They are smaller cows, but very productive. Long Distance was used heavily across the Charolais breed. His calves are not really little, typically 7585lbs but made to born with very little assistance.

33M is going to be one of the easier calving bulls in the sale. He has a very desirable small head, smooth shouldered, and born assisted. If you are looking for a heifer bull, this may be the one. His mother is a female Haylee purchased from Danies Cattle, at the Alberta Select as a heifer calf. Haylee showed her as a heifer calf.

45M & 27M are both calving ease bulls. These two are very similar built, balanced from head to tail, finer boned, and going to mature into smaller-framed herd bulls. This Long Distance sire group will all be very easy calving bulls.

This year will be the third year Olivia and I will be offering a set of two-year-old Black Angus bulls. We have put our best effort into selecting a cow herd that will raise useful offspring that represent the needs of the Angus breed. Our Grandpa and Grandma worked to sustain easy-keeping females living in Alberta conditions. All the herd bulls they have used over the years have had no white present on them. This ensured no white on the females retained in the replacement pen. We look forward to seeing you at the ranch on March 11th. If you have any other questions or would like to stop and view the bulls, please feel free to call, and we will do our best to help you select your next Black Angus bull.

We purchased Bar-E-L Iron Hand 94J a few years ago as a herd bull. As a direct son of Alcatraz, he spoke for himself and how his genetics have taken off in the Black Angus industry. Alcatraz himself was one of the highest-selling bulls in 2019 selling for $200,000 at the Hamilton Farms bull sale. We are super excited to see how he influences the females we have retained to put back into our program and what he has to offer for the bull calves. The bull calves are easy-keeping, big-footed, deep-ribbed, and easy calving.

We purchased Bank Note 129J from Riverfront as a very powerful yearling and our pick out of their sale. His sire, Brooking Bank Note 4040, also needs no introduction in Black Angus genetics, as he sold for $125,000. He is a performance bull stacked with maternal strength to increase value in both his sons and females. He ranks in the top 1% for WW and YW. His daughters are perfect-uddered, moderateframed, and very complete, sound-made females. His sons add extra muscle, stoutness, length of spine, all within a very attractive-made package. We feel he can add very nice replacement heifers and heavy weighted steers in the fall to the commercial breeders.

We have a couple different groups of heifers for sale this year. These are all home-raised heifers from highly productive, proven, functional cows with good feet and udders. The Angus heifers are born in the last half of April and into May. If you saw the Wildflower Angus Pen of Three heifers at Oyen Beef Expo, the black heifers will be sisters to them. A lot of the heifers come from the purebred herd but sell with no papers. The tan heifers are from the commercial side of our operation. They were born in April. These are the top-cut, as we are not keeping any of them this year. They were weaned the first week of November, had all their shots, and fed at home. We walk or the girls ride their horses through the heifer pen every day to make them quiet. They sell with no brands and will be vaccinated, and palpated ready for breeding.
Here at Roth Ranches, we are third generation ranchers located at Loyalist, Alberta. We run a commercial herd of approximately 300 head of cows with mostly Red Angus and Simmental mothers. Lately, Trent has introduced some black cows to the herd. We have been using Charolais bulls since Blaine’s dad started buying them 45-50 years ago. We find these Charolais cross calves always bring a premium and are in demand, we also find they make good replacement heifers as we continue to raise our own.
We continue to support the local Charolais breeders as their bulls seem to be as good as any we have found. We thank Desertland Cattle for the opportunity to showcase our cattle and sell some heifers at their sale. These heifers sell with no brands and will be vaccinated and ready for breeding.
Blaine & Darlene Roth and Trent & Lisa Roth
Here at Rude Ranch, we are a 4th generation operation. We are very thankful to be able to carry on over 100 years in the cattle business. Our herd consists of straight Hereford cows. The main herd is bred to Charolais bulls and approximately 75 head bred to Hereford bulls. We purchased 30 head of Hereford cows bred Black Angus from Little Poplar Grove Hereford last year.
Our daughter, Sadie, is excited that Dad is allowing us to showcase these 8 beautiful F1 heifers. These heifers were born in February. They were weaned the first week of November, had all their shots and fed at home.
All heifers have been vaccinated and palpated. We would like to thank Desertland Cattle and Wildflower Angus for inviting us to sell these 8 heifers in their sale.
Terms: The terms of this sale are cash or cheque payable at par at sale location unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made previous to the sale. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released.
Bid: Every animal consigned to the sale must be sold by auction. No private sales will be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. Disputes: In some cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneers decision in such matters will be final. Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time.
Announcements: Announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Bidders are therefore cautioned to pay attention to any such announcements. Certificate of Registry: The proper Registration or Recordation paper, as the case may be, will be duly transferred and furnished to the buyer for each animal after the settlement has been made.
Breeder’s Guarantee - Bulls: Should any bull fourteen (14) months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six (6) months following the date of purchase or six (6) months after the bull has reached fourteen (14) months of age. The seller will then have the right and privilege of six (6) months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that the semen collected from the bull will be suitable for artificial insemination. Heifers: All have been palpated and guaranteed open and in good health by a local veterinarian. Should any bull fail to be a satisfactory breeder, he will be replaced with a bull of equal value and performance level. Should this not be possible, a credit toward the purchase of another bull will be awarded. All warranty and responsibility is limited to replacement of the bull in question and is acknowledged by the buyer as a condition of sale.
Exception to Guarantee: In cases where the animal is subject to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void.
Bull Semen Retention: All consignors reserve the right to collect semen on any bull sold for in herd use. This semen will be collected at the buyer’s convenience and at the seller’s expense.
Settlement: Transportation charges on animals returned to the seller for account of the purchaser. No incidental expenses such as feed, AI, signing fees, interest, veterinary charges, etc. will be charged by either party when making settlement. If the seller is successful in proving the animal a breeder, then said animal will be reclaimed by the purchaser at his expense. Should the seller fail to so prove the animal is a breeder, then the buyer is guaranteed a satisfactory replacement, F.O.B. the ranch or the refund of the actual price. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price. Should a dispute over the quality of a replacement animal, the Sales Management will appoint a mediator.
Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sales Management, Auctioneer, or Sellers assume any responsibility in this manner and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of the accident or loss of property.
Rights and Obligations: The above terms and conditions shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.
