Erin, Mia, Avery and I would like to welcome you to our second annual bull sale. It’s a great time to be in the cattle business seeing record prices last fall. Mia & Avery continue to grow up in front of our eyes and are becoming more and more helpful around the farm everyday. They keep Erin busy traveling to hockey, ball, and 4H among other things, Erin is also very busy with her Kindergarten class. No better time than now to say a huge thank you to Mom and Dad for all their dedication to the farm. Dad is always up for hauling cattle to pasture or the market, never says no to parts runs, and hauls bales off the field faster than we can make them. Mom continues to keep track of all the cattle records, has made every round bale we have, and is with me day and night with the cattle. She knows and loves cattle.
We are extremely proud in the quality of our offering. The bulls are a very solid and functional set. They came off pasture for weaning and have been on a silage based TMR with a Bullseye bull developer pellet ever since. We want the bulls to be in good flesh, but not over conditioned to give them the best chance of a long future in front of them. We are both a purebred breeder and commercial cattlemen and feel bulls can’t just work in the showring but must produce in their true environment. We will stand behind our bulls, and we hope your purchases make you nothing but profitable.
Lastly, we would like to thank Ken for allowing us to partner in the sale again this year. He has not only been a strong believer in our program but continues to support our girls in their rural lifestyle. He has been there to see their growth and achievements in 4H and recently gifted them a bred heifer to start their own herd.
If you have any questions about our program or the bulls on offer, don’t hesitate to reach out. As always, we would love to have you come to the farm for a coffee and to appraise the bull pen. Looking forward to seeing you at the sale.
Dusty,
Erin, Mia & Avery

Mack is a bull that makes me stop in my tracks when I’m choring, just to take a longer look. He is the product of a complete system. You will see many bulls on Ken’s side of the catalogue sired by Jax 39J, and for good reason. Mack was the highest performing fullblood bull in the offering. He is a meat wagon of natural muscling, all while keeping a balanced look. Large is all faucets and a true punch of power with those perfect double goggles. The kind of bull that could be used by seed stock producers and commercial cattleman alike.

I’ve been waiting all year to make this footnote, and I could fill a page. We are extremely proud of this bull. Born mid February but still hanging right at the top of the pen with the older fullblood bulls. We tested the waters with our walking herd sire from WJS and needless to say, he knocked it out of the park. Montana is deep, soft sided and soggy made. He is big nutted with tons of dark red hair, and unbelievably quiet which made it tough to score the perfect shot on picture day. The kind of bull I would retain myself if I didn’t pull 250 straws from his sire to have on-hand. He’s the real deal.

Here is a bull that can do a program a world of good. A real man’s man! Monarch displays exceptional muscle pattern and will stamp his progeny the same. He is off a cow I sure hold in high regard coming from the lead off group at Little Willow Creek, so count this guy in for retaining females as well. I couldn’t have asked for more from this AI choice. Well balanced, stout, red to the hoof, and he’s a quiet bugger too!

We knew in the first few days of age that we had a ringer when Milwaukee hit the ground. Deep red, deep bodied, big top, natural muscle, and big nuts…. Check marks in every category. His mother is a no-fault 1st calver that I just love to show off and I can see a flush date in her future. Milwaukee has long been a pen favorite, and one Cody Coupland picked out as his choice while touring this summer. We are confident this guy will advance a program.

His 205 day weight was that of 65% of his mother. I loved touring the pasture watching him suck while his mother tried to look over his rump to see me. A true testament to what we are trying to accomplish here at GFRL and an absolute herd bull in the making. We knew Momentum was something special at a young age. He has never taken a step back cashing in a top weaning weight among all purebreds and continuing to excel on feed ever since. He has been a favorite among many astute cattlemen that have visited the bull pen. A great disposition, an excellent foot and that next level degree of stoutness that must really be seen. He rounds it all out with a bold spring of rib and has a thick blood red haircoat much like his beautiful dam. Momentum certainly checks all the boxes, and I challenge you to find a hiccup with this one. We intend to retain semen for in

Marshall is a real head turner. He wasn’t the most cooperative bull on picture day but one that can sure be appreciated in real life. I truly see Marshall could be used in a variety of ways with his moderate birthweight. He is soft made with a crazy amount of middle, and a good solid hind ¼. Use him on grass calvers, use him on 2nd calvers, use him to cross your angus cows… Just use him!
Working with Grassy Flat Ranch on their bull’s nutrition program has been great. Dusty and his family want their bull pen developed correctly and safely without cutting corners. They are very keen seedstock producers with a great eye for cattle and I hope that you can make it in person to see this set of bulls.
The bull development program is built to maximize forage utilization and gut health. All forages are sampled and analyzed to ensure quality feed sources are used. Once the calves are weaned, they are slowly transitioned to a TMR feed along with a complete feed pellet. The TMR is forage-based and is designed to promote lean muscle growth, allowing the bulls to express their genetic potential. Rumen health is of upmost importance, which is why a probiotic, suitable protein sources, and proper starch levels are fed to the bulls. Organic minerals are used both on the cow herd and sale bulls to ensure proper immune function and overall health.
Grassy Flat Ranch uses a total nutrition program on their entire operation, ensuring optimal performance and health of their cattle. If you have any questions about the nutrition of the sale bulls, please feel free to call. Best of luck on sale day!

Another feature bull and definitely a breeder bull candidate! Dam is a moderate-framed, great uddered cow that has raised a frontend calf every year.
Wide-topped, stout, dark red bull out of a 13-year-old cow with a perfect udder. Good suspension and still has small teats that are so easy for a newborn to get up and suck with no assistance!

He should be a real female maker. His dam is a younger cow with the perfect udder. I’ve reduced my herd in the last 5 years from 300 cows to 135, so you know which cows are here. The solid producing, gooduddered cows, which are what we all want.

This obviously could sound very repetitive, but his dam is a real frontend cow. Once again, when you cut your herd from 300 cows to 135, it seems to hurt but once done and you look at what has been kept, “you feel darn proud”!
