MY TIME AT CBA WAS memorable for many reasons. I had a lot of childhood friends there, so it was nice to already know people when I arrived. I learned a lot of discipline as I was quite undisciplined before. CBA had a great respect for knowledge and excellence, and I was able to learn not only information, but also how to behave and grow up. I was even able to get a grant from the National Science Foundation to attend the Chicago Institute of Technology between my junior and senior year. After graduating, I went to

2022

the University of Connecticut and started as a math major, but switched to computer science. My advice to younger students would be to pay attention to what the teachers are telling you as it will give you a foundation for the rest of your life. I also learned that CBA was a dependable place, and I still remember the stories of my fellow students, teachers, and secretaries. They were all very influential and it's worth holding onto those memories throughout life.

I'M SO GRATEFUL FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND CBA. My favorite experiences were the strong bonds I formed with my classmates and the individual attention I received from my teachers. My favorite class was environmental science. The teacher was an amazing teacher, and the subject matter really resonated with me. I was also involved in a lot of activities and clubs, such as wrestling, lacrosse, and bag piping. My favorite tournament was when we went to Washington, DC, for lacrosse. Even though we lost, the team bonded more and grew closer as a family. In the future, I plan to graduate from Manhattan with a civil engineering degree and an environmental engineering degree. I hope to work with the Army Corps of Engineers to help clean up the ocean. My advice to future students is to keep pushing; it will get easier. When I look back on my time at CBA, I smile thinking about the friendships I made, the teams I played on, and the overall aesthetic of the school.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS AMAZING. I didn't play any sports, but I was the cult morning sports reporter my senior year. I made a lot of great friends there and I always tell people about it. It's like a brotherhood, we went through tough times and good times together. It was the best four years of my life. I had the chance to go back for a reunion, but it got canceled due to COVID-19. The education I received was second to none and I still keep in touch with my closest friends from CBA.

I FIRST CONSIDERED CBA WHEN MY OLDER COUSIN

told me he was thinking of going there, and I thought it would have been cool if the two of us could go to school together. He wound up not applying there, but for some reason, I was committed to the decision to at least apply. When I got the acceptance letter, I was proud but nervous. I wondered if I could handle a private school and what it would be like only having boys in the student body. Also, could my family afford it, and could I deal with the guilt of having my parents pay the tuition? I came from a lower-middle-class family, and the tuition was no easy burden. However, my parents were very proud of the idea of sending one of their kids to a more prestigious school than the local high school. Looking back, I have zero regrets. I loved CBA. It was a place where you could really get into the school spirit without feeling tacky. It was a

place that took itself as seriously as it needed to but still allowed you to have fun and enjoy the four years you had there. The camaraderie of CBA made it easy to steer your mind away from peer pressure, social cliques, and drama, making it much easier to focus on the rigorous academics. Despite how strict and old-fashioned some of the teachers were, and the high standard of curriculum, CBA eventually ceased to feel like a school, and more like a second home, albeit with homework, tests, essays, and a dress code. I did everything at CBA, and I am positive that in my senior year, I spent more time at CBA than I did at home, and I was perfectly ok with that. It was a place I became very comfortable, but it still offered me challenges that motivated me. CBA made me who I am today, and definitely for the better.

MY TIME IN HIGH school was memorable for many reasons. I was elected senior year to be student council president and participated in sports throughout my career at CBA. I was fortunate enough to get a partial scholarship for baseball and was even named most valuable player in the intramural football league. I also played basketball for

1975

three years. I loved sports, and CBA was a great place to play. The best part was meeting people from different areas and backgrounds. I went on to play baseball in college and while I didn't make it to the Yankees, I did develop my skills and learned some leadership. These skills helped me in my business career after college, and I'm thankful for the experience.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS TRULY MEMORABLE. The combination of Christian faith and academic rigor was a great foundation for my education. Being part of the cross country team gave me a lot of self-confidence. The faculty, especially Brother Thomas Lackey and Brother John Bassett, challenged me and didn't allow me to coast. They instilled in me a sense of self-discipline, commitment to doing something for someone other than myself, and a sense of duty to the community. CBA has made me the man I am today.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS LIFEchanging. I was fortunate to have Brother Thomas as my guidance counselor, who set the bar high for professionalism and expectations. I played intramural football for a month. CBA gave me a belief in myself and increased my confidence level. They treated me like an adult as soon as

1965

I walked in the door, which was very gratifying. My grades improved dramatically and I was able to get into a better college. The graduation ceremony was funny in a way and I worked incredibly hard to get to that point. CBA gave me the opportunity to grow and I am forever grateful for the experience.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS incredibly memorable. The camaraderie and support of the brothers pushed me to achieve my goals. The most valuable lesson I learned was to never give up. I was not a star student, but I did participate in a little wrestling. I never finished college. I fell in love with sailing, and eventually I studied and was able to get my license as a merchant marine master, which allowed me to be a captain. I worked worldwide as a captain for 30 years. After retiring from the marine industry, I did get a job offer from Northrop Grumman to work in their Space and Mission Systems Division. I was the only engineer operating in my department without a degree, but I had a lot of experience and it worked out great. CBA taught me the importance of perseverance and hard work, and I am grateful for the education and experience I received there.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS TRULY MEMORABLE.

The camaraderie and attitude of the student body was so kind and caring, and we all helped each other out. The school was geared towards college preparation, and it emphasized having a balance between extracurricular activities and academics. This helped me become disciplined and take things more seriously. I had teachers and advisors that had an impact on me and molded me scholastically. I learned about the importance of education and how it builds personality. CBA provided me with the tools to be disciplined, goal-minded, and an achiever. I also had a lot of fun in the Intramural Program, especially soccer. All of this has helped me succeed in my life and I am so grateful for my time at CBA.

MY TIME AT CHRISTIAN BROTHERS ACADEMY WAS incredibly memorable. I was involved in a lot of activities, such as being the captain of the volleyball team, president of the National Honor Society, and on the executive board of the Model U.N. Club. My favorite activities were the volleyball team and Model UN Club. Being the captain of the volleyball team was a lot of fun as I was able to nurture the younger players and help them grow into leadership roles. I also learned a lot about leadership and time management. In my free time, I enjoyed spending time with my friends from my freshman lunch table. We would go to Joyce's house to hang out or go to the beach in the summer. After graduating in 2019, I went to the University of Notre Dame and recently graduated with a bachelor's degree and an associate's degree. I am now studying for the CPA exams and will be moving into the city with a couple of CBA guys in October. My greatest takeaway from my time at CBA is definitely the friends I made. We have been close for eight years now, and they are like my brothers. I would love to relive one moment from my time at CBA, but there are so many good ones that it's hard to choose just one.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS INCREDIBLY MEMORABLE. THE people I met there are still my friends today and I'm grateful for that. I was involved in rowing and fencing, and I'm still in contact with some of my teammates. Being a student athlete taught me a lot about time management and prepared me for the real world. My favorite classes were the AP history classes, which led me to get a history degree. If I had the opportunity to speak with a young male preparing to attend CBA, I would advise him that it may seem difficult at first, but it will be worth it in the end. Nothing worth doing is easy, and it will help him get ahead in life when he enters the workforce.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS TRULY MEMORABLE.

I was surrounded by wonderful people, both teachers and students, and I was lucky enough to have some really special people like Brother Michael Dwyer and Brother Leo Kirby, who made an impact on me. I was also very active in Pegasus Productions, which was the theater group, and we put on two great productions every year. It was a great organization with a lot of talented and dedicated people who worked hard to put on great shows. I learned to be hardworking, have integrity, be respectful, and be a kind human being. My greatest takeaway from my time there was the quality of education and the quality of the experience. It really prepared me for college and for life.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE.

I was on the lacrosse team all four years and I loved it. CBA prepared me mentally for college and I felt confident going into the next level of my life. The balance of religious access and high education was a great takeaway from my time there. After CBA, I pursued a career in architecture, which was interesting because CBA didn't have any architecture adjacent courses. However, the math, English, and science courses provided a culture of learning that taught me to study hard and figure things out as I go. I'm grateful for my time at CBA and the positive feedback I received.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS incredibly memorable. I made a lot of great friends and was able to participate in a variety of sports, including soccer, track, and cross country. My involvement in sports gave me the opportunity to stay connected with my friends even after graduation. Coach Tom Heath was a major influence on me and many others. He was able to motivate us beyond what

1979

we thought was possible. During my time at CBA, I learned that everything matters. I also enjoyed the school spirit and camaraderie amongst the students. Since graduating, I have had a successful career in stockbroking, energy trading, energy sales, software sales, construction estimating, project management, and now I am a co-owner of a coffee shop.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS AN incredibly memorable experience. I was involved in a lot of activities, from intramural sports to writing for the school newspaper, the Torch. I also worked on the poster club, which was a great way to get creative and market upcoming events. I still keep in touch with some of my classmates, and I feel that CBA really prepared me for the next level in my life. I was able to take a lot of different classes, from humanities to math and science,

which broadened my knowledge and prepared me for the future. I grew spiritually, thanks to the strong religious studies program. The brothers were especially welcoming, and there were open houses and get-togethers. My greatest takeaway from CBA was the education and preparedness for college, but I also learned a lot about socializing and making long-term friends. I'm glad I got to experience CBA and remember my time there fondly.

MY TIME IN HIGH SCHOOL WAS INCREDIBLY memorable. I made strong bonds with my classmates and had a great education and sports experience. I was on the cross country, indoor and outdoor track teams and it was a great way to make friends and shape my college years. I was also part of prom committees and other clubs and organizations. Being on prom committee was a great way to get to know my classmates and have fun organizing a great event. I learned to challenge myself academically, spiritually and athletically and to keep an open mind and keep pushing to get better. My greatest takeaway from my time there was the friendships and relationships I made with my classmates, teachers and administrators. These relationships have been positive and lifelong.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS FILLED WITH LIFELONG friendships and unforgettable experiences. I was part of the undefeated basketball team in school history, the 72 73 team, and I played baseball and basketball. I was lucky to have coaches like Vinny Cox and Marty Kenny who helped me become a better person. One of the most memorable experiences was when the old bus broke down coming back from a baseball game at Shore Regional. We all got out and pushed it down the hill to jump start it and got it going. It was a funny moment that I will never forget. I learned to believe in myself and that I could compete at those levels. CBA was a great experience that I will always cherish.

MY TIME AT CHRISTIAN BROTHERS ACADEMY WAS incredibly memorable. The staff, teachers, and brothers treated me like an adult as long as I was worthy of that treatment. One teacher who went out of his way to help me was Mr. Cecil Leon, my algebra teacher freshman year. He was willing to spend extra hours to help me through a tough process. I also had the privilege of playing JV wrestling my sophomore year and varsity baseball my junior and senior year. Mr. Patrick Reynolds, the gym teacher, was a great guy. The education I received from CBA prepared me for college and the future. I was shocked to see how unprepared my fellow students were when I got to college. The education I received at CBA gave me a unique understanding of the world and the people around me. It was the everyday interactions with teachers and students that made my time at CBA so special.

I REMEMBER MY TIME AT CBA FONDLY. I WAS NEVER the best student, but I was involved in intramurals and got to experience many special moments with the basketball team as a Student Manager. One of my favorite teachers was Mr. Chesney. He was great at instilling accountability in his students. I never kept in touch with anyone from CBA, but I did attend a local reunion in the Philadelphia area. CBA prepared me for college by teaching me the importance of hard work and good study habits. After graduating, I went to Syracuse University and then worked in banking and auto lending for most of my life. I recently retired, and while I'm enjoying it, I'm looking for something else to do. When I think back to my time at CBA, I'm most grateful for the opportunity to learn in a more studious environment than I would have in public school. I also smile when I think of the physical beauty of the campus. It was a great experience and I'm thankful for it.

I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN AN athlete; I played varsity soccer all of the way through college. What I enjoyed most about it was the camaraderie amongst the team. We had to come together as a team to win a difficult game, and it was through teamwork, perseverance, and kinship that we were able to do it. My favorite courses in school were English, math, physical education, history, and homeroom. In homeroom, Brother Edward taught me to think about God in a different way

2010

and spiritually opened up the door to God. He was like a breath of fresh air and was able to reach us as individuals.

I also enjoyed theater because it allowed me to fi nd out who I was and put confidence in myself. I was sheltered a lot growing up, so it was nice to be part of something. The teachers also had a lot of patience and were able to make us understand the material. The cafeteria lady was also fantastic. All of these experiences have shaped me into who I am today.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS incredibly memorable. The people, teachers, and overall community made a positive impact on my experience. I was involved in cross country, track and field, indoor and outdoor, and golf. I still keep in touch with some of my fellow teammates from my time there. Mr. McGann's history class and Mr. Myers English class made a significant impact on me and I still use Mr. Myers

writing lessons on a daily basis. My time at CBA helped me grow and change as a person and prepared me for college. I had a great network of individuals to reach out to once I graduated. My most favorable events during my time were the basketball games, track meets, cross country meets, prom, homecoming, and ring dance. We even won the TOC in golf and had a few state champions in track and field and cross country.

IT'S BEEN SEVEN years since I graduated from Christian Brothers Academy, but the memories and lessons I learned there still remain with me. The brotherhood aspect was one of the most memorable parts of my time there. The connection I had with classmates, faculty, and alumni was something I will never forget. Being part of the track team was also a great experience. I remember the dedication of our coaches, Bob Maier and Karl Torchia, who never showed the fatigue they must have been feeling. Winning the championship during my senior year was a great thrill. Two teachers in particular had a huge impact on my life: Bob Maier, who was our track coach and AP English teacher, and Jeff Matson, the AP history teacher. They

treated us like men and were honest with us. They pushed us to be the best versions of ourselves. My experience at CBA helped me to learn how to fi gure things out on my own and seek out resources. After graduation, I was fortunate enough to be able to go back and work for the school as the director of annual giving. It was a great experience to be able to advance the mission of the school in my own way. When I reflect on my time at CBA, I am most grateful for the brotherhood mentality and the tools I was given to stand out. I was able to see the difference between the mentality of a boy and a man. I truly believe that CBA sets its students up to stand out no matter who they are or where they come from.

MY TIME AT CHRISTIAN BROTHERS ACADEMY WAS incredibly memorable. I was part of the Guru program with Mr. Burrow and Fathers X, and we put on some amazing musicals in the springtime. I had the freedom to use my time at school in the most productive way. I didn't have a specific class that helped me decide on my major or career path, but I grew a lot as a person in general. I was able to continue my acting in the pit orchestra, and I solidified my faith and developed a sense of responsibility and self-discipline. Looking back, I am so grateful for the time I spent at CBA.

MY YEARS AT CBA were some of the most memorable of my life. It taught me how to be an adult and instilled a ton of confidence in me. I attribute a lot of my success to the values CBA taught me. The most valuable lesson I learned was to treat everyone with equal kindness and respect

and to pay it forward. The greatest takeaway from CBA was the unique education I received. It taught me how to be a good person, to do the right thing, and to be a good teammate in life. I'm so grateful for the experience I had at CBA and all the values it instilled in me.

I LOOK BACK FONDLY ON MY TIME AT CBA. I was challenged in various aspects of my life, whether that was faith, academics, or athletics. I was involved in a lot of activities, such as playing on the lacrosse team, serving as a lector in mass, and taking honors and AP classes. This experience helped me develop a strong work ethic and level of discipline that I didn't have before. It also helped me realize that true fulfillment and happiness comes from helping other people. I'm grateful for the community service aspect of the experience and the lessons it taught me. I'm thankful for the opportunity to have been a part of CBA and the impact it had on my life.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS INCREDIBLY memorable. I was involved in a lot of activities, such as running, co-president of SAD, and coordinating the annual food drive. Through these experiences, I learned the importance of hard work and the value of investing in relationships. I also enjoyed the traditions and events, such as the alumni barbecue and the freshman run. MY FOUR YEARS AT CBA WERE SOME of the best of my life. I was a pitcher and center fielder on a championship team, and we built a lot of memories together. I was always the pitcher in the semi-final games, but never in the championship game. I was also able to experience the scene at Delaware, but I was also able to learn a lot from the teachers there. Mr. Feely, Mr. McGann, and Mr. Higgins were some of my favorites. I also remember Brother Mike, who was a great example of discipline. One event that stands out to me is when we put together a dance in honor of a classmate who had passed away. I felt like I learned more at CBA than I did in college, and it really shaped me into the person I am today. The education and discipline I received there really grounded me for the rest of my life.

MY EXPERIENCE AT CBA WAS incredibly valuable and helped me become a better person. I was active in sports and clubs, and had a great teacher, Coach Chesney, who taught me how to apply real-life experiences to textbook information. My time at CBA was pivotal in personal and professional growth, and I even moved back to Monmouth County to give my son the opportunity to attend CBA. I participated in all the school

activities, like prom, homecoming, and ring dance. The principles and values I acquired at CBA transferred over into life afterward and helped me navigate some of the difficulties. My greatest takeaway from my time spent there was the discipline and work ethic instilled in me, and the respect for academic ranking in my class. I believe my time at CBA made college much easier.

MY TIME AT CHRISTIAN Brothers Academy was truly memorable. I had a close bond with my fellow students and it inspired us to be competitive in both academics and athletics. I was active in the tennis team, chess club, and a few other clubs. I took a public speaking class that really helped me come out of my shell and learn how to present myself in front of people. I even gave a comical

speech about the evolution of the tennis ball, which I got an A on! I'm grateful for CBA because it prepared me for college and allowed for open dialogue on issues. The only downside was that it wasn't coed, so dances were a big deal since they brought in girls from other schools. All in all, CBA was a great school and I'm thankful for the memories I made there.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS truly memorable. From consistently winning track meets as a team and forming a brotherhood with my teammates, it was a great experience. One of my most cherished memories was when my 4x400 won the Emerging Elite Nationals at the New Balance Spring Nationals in the Carolinas. Being a student athlete at CBA taught me a lot about myself. The teachers and coaches pushed me to my limits and instilled a drive in me that I still carry with me today. I left CBA with a lot of confidence and a unique perspective

1966

on life. My favorite teacher was Mr. Reagan, my calculus teacher. I had a close relationship with my track coach, Karl Torchia, and Chris Bennett, my history teacher and coach. I also had a memorable senior year business class with Mr. Santos. Graduating was the next step for me. I was sad to leave. I had to miss my last few days of classes to go to nationals. CBA was a challenge but a rewarding one. It's not for everyone, but it's an opportunity for self-discovery and growth. It's a challenge I'm glad I took on.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS TRULY MEMORABLE. I WAS surrounded by intelligent people and I was lucky enough to be accepted into the school, even though my mother couldn't afford it. We managed and I was able to take part in a variety of activities, such as intramural football, track, cheerleading, and the booster club. I was also part of a cheerleading squad that was taller than the basketball team! After CBA, I went on to college and majored in business. I grew and changed a lot as a person while I was at CBA. I was immature when I first arrived and it took me a while to catch up with the other students. I learned a lot from my peers and it really brought out my potential. My greatest takeaway from my time at CBA was learning from the other kids and being exposed to highly motivated people.

WHEN I THINK

back on my time at CBA, I'm most grateful for the relationships I formed. I had some amazing teachers who not only taught me how to write but also how to be a critical thinker. I also formed some great friendships with my classmates that still continue today. Winning the first ever state championship in hockey was an incredible

experience that I still talk about. I also remember the challenges of being a student athlete, such as having to practice before school and traveling for games. It was worth it because I formed some great friendships. CBA also prepared me for college by expecting a high level of work from me. incredibly memorable. I grew up in a working class family in Sayreville, New Jersey, and CBA was a great preparation for college. I got to know people from all over the state, who were from different backgrounds and upbringings. I also had the opportunity to take a class called World Regions with Brother Raymond, which opened my eyes to the world beyond my own. He organized trips to the Soviet Union and Greece, which I paid for out of my own pocket. These trips sparked my love of travel, and I've now been to 47 countries and counting. MY TIME AT CHRISTIAN BROTHERS

Academy was truly memorable. I was well-prepared for college due to the excellent education I received. I was also very involved in the school, participating in the speech and drama club, forensics club, public speaking and debate club as well as intramural soccer, basketball, and softball. The faculty were mostly dedicated and interested in our learning. What I'm most grateful for from my experience there is the opportunity to have a spiritual as well as technical education. MY TIME AT CBA was incredibly meaningful and I'm so grateful for the experience. I was able to develop strong relationships with my peers and learn so much from the curriculum. I was also able to volunteer in the community and make a difference in the lives of others. I was able to volunteer with Lasallian Youth, Challenger Sports, and collect books for local public libraries. I was also able to participate in extracurriculars like track, volleyball, and student government. The staff members at CBA were also incredibly impactful. I had teachers like Frank Bok, Mr. Mulligan, Mr. Dash, Jeff Billet, and Mr. Reagan who all helped shape me into the person I am today. My advice for current students at CBA is to commit to the process and keep going. It's not always easy, but it's so worth it. got to be pretty good at it. After CBA, I went on to Furman University and got a degree in biology, but I never got to use it. I fell into landscaping and have been in the green industry ever since. CBA prepared me well for college, and I know that many of my classmates have gone on to be successful.

ATTENDING CBA WAS AN INCREDIBLY MEMORABLE experience for me. I was given a great foundation in education that was almost like college courses. I learned that it was important to get as good an education as I could at the time as it would help me later on in life. I was pushed hard by the teachers and brothers, but they knew what they were doing and wanted us to be great citizens. I learned that I could motivate myself more. I was also lucky to have parents who sacrificed to send me to such a good school. I was involved in varsity sports, but I wanted to do my own thing after school. I had a lot of good friends, some of whom didn't make it as long as some of us. I'm thankful for the education I received.

MY TIME AT CHRISTIAN Brothers Academy was a memorable experience. I was able to participate in varsity baseball, basketball, and soccer, and I had some great coaches and teachers who had a big influence on my life. My coach, Vinny Cox, and my librarian, Ms. Levy, were especially important to me. Ms. Levy was like a second mother to

me, always keeping me in line and making sure I was on the right track. I went on to Gettysburg College to play basketball, but I wish I had taken more advantage of the opportunity I had at CBA. Looking back, I'm most grateful for the camaraderie I experienced there. Everyone was part of a community and I felt like I stood out in the world.

MY TIME AT Christian Brothers Academy was an incredibly memorable and enriching experience. I was able to make close friends with people in my homeroom, classes, and even those I didn't have classes with. The faculty and staff were incredibly helpful and supportive, and I was able to join clubs and organizations like the Digital Network and the newly launched broadcasting network.

Through this, I was able to explore my passion for broadcasting and it even led to me broadcasting sports for Boston College's student radio for the next four years. I learned a lot about myself and my ability to make friends and be social. I also learned how to manage my time and the importance of the brotherhood and community at CBA. My greatest takeaway from my time there is the relationships and friendships I made, both with people in my class and with faculty as well as those I made through the name of Christian Brothers Academy.

I'm recording a sports podcast with cohosts Jack, 2018, and Vito, 1999.

MY TIME AT CBA was incredibly memorable. The community and brotherhood I experienced there was unlike anything I had ever experienced before. I made lifelong friends and the connections I made there helped me prepare for the Naval Academy. I still keep in touch with many of my friends from CBA, and I'm proud to show my support for the school. One of the most impactful experiences I had was freshman soccer tryouts. I didn't know anyone going into CBA, but the tryouts helped me make friends right away.

I also joined the squash team and club, which I ended up playing in college. I learned that it's important to take risks and push yourself outside your comfort zone. My friends and I relied on each other to get through the tough courses. My greatest takeaway from CBA was the foundation of service and appreciation for history and sacrifice. My two cousins and I all went to CBA and then all three of us ended up serving in the military. I'm proud of the foundation CBA gave us and the connections I made there.

I AM GRATEFUL FOR THE time I spent at CBA. It taught me structure and discipline that I didn't realize how important it was until several years later. I had many influential teachers, such as Dr. Kotch, Brother Michael, Mr. Heath, and Mr. Kane, who all genuinely cared about me and wanted to see me succeed. I have many fond memories of my time at CBA, such as playing in two state championships

1969

in soccer, running my personal best in the 800, and attending the CBA dances. I am most grateful for the friendships I made and the camaraderie and competitiveness that I experienced. I have been able to stay in contact with some of my friends and former teammates, such as Jeff and Eric. I am thankful for the time I spent at CBA and the lessons I learned.

MY TIME AT CHRISTIAN Brothers Academy was incredibly memorable. I made many new friends and received a quality education. I was also a member of the varsity wrestling team, which taught me the valuable lesson of perseverance and not to give up. We were even honored at the Hall of Fame dinner for our accomplishments. I was undecided as to what I wanted to do after high school, so I went into college as a business major. My coach, Tony Chesney, was a great motivator and an inspiration.

I also had two teachers, Brother Steven and Brother Kevin, who were excellent disciplinarians and had everyone's best interest in mind. I learned to strive for the next level and to never give up. I enjoyed going to the proms and dances, and I was able to see my success through. After CBA, I went to Wall Street as a foreign exchange trader, but switched fields. I've been in the substance abuse field for the past 30 years, and I'm currently working two days a week. My greatest takeaway from CBA is the friendships and the antics.

MY TIME AT CHRISTIAN Brothers Academy was incredibly memorable. I had the opportunity to form close friendships that have lasted a lifetime. I was part of a close-knit fraternal group that still gets together to reminisce and have a good time. I was also part of a new school run by the brothers. My father was a devout Christian and Catholic, so I was told I was going there. I was able

to participate in intramural sports, and I was more of a social butterfly than a great athlete. I enjoyed attending the dances and homecoming, and I still attend alumni events around the East Coast. I was also fortunate to have a supportive network of friends and family who were there for me and my wife. All in all, CBA was a wonderful place and I am so glad to have had the opportunity to attend.

MY TIME AT CHRISTIAN Brothers Academy was incredibly memorable. I made lifelong friendships with my 'brothers,' and the camaraderie we shared was unlike any other high school experience. I was able to challenge myself academically and athletically, playing both basketball and baseball. Everyone at CBA was there to help us reach our full potential, from the teachers to the brothers

to the coaches. I learned to take pride in my work and develop strong routines to help me succeed. I was able to take the values and lessons I learned at CBA with me to college and beyond, and I believe that is why so many people are successful after leaving CBA. I'm incredibly grateful for my time there and the impact it had on my life.

I looked a little tired, but I think that was how it was back in 1974; wishing you all the best.

I REMEMBER MY time at Christian Brothers Academy fondly. I made some great friends who I still keep in touch with. Brother Ralph Montero and Mr. Julius Lelesi were both excellent teachers. Brother Ralph tried teaching me Spanish, and Mr. Lelesi taught English. I worked part-time at Delicious Orchards while I was there. I got to do some horseback riding as a club event, and I even did some jumping. I'm grateful for the opportunities that CBA offered me. I was able to learn computer science in their lab, which was one of the few schools that had one in the 1970s. This knowledge helped me get a job as an analyst and programmer at Hamilton Standard Collins Aerospace, which I did for many years. I'm most grateful for the friendships I made while I was there. I had a great time, and I'll never forget my time at CBA.

MY EXPERIENCE AT CBA was truly special. I was on the track team, student council, and made lifelong friendships. I still keep in touch with many of my classmates, even after 50 years. We had dances, coffee houses, and other activities that made the school experience memorable. I enjoyed math and English classes, but wasn't a fan of calculus or physics. I was a sprinter and remember going to Newark for

2010

a track meet with a few of my friends. We were honored at our 50th reunion and I was surprised to hear how much I had helped my classmates. After graduation, I went to Villanova and then eventually became a teacher. I was making too much money in the car business to make the switch earlier, but I'm glad I did. I would encourage CBA students to embrace their experience and make the most of it.

I LOOK BACK AT MY TIME AT CBA WITH admiration and gratitude. It was a great start to my academic and professional career. What stands out the most for me is the well-rounded experience the school provided. It wasn't singularly focused on academics, athletics, or extracurriculars. It focused on building a well-rounded young man. That nurturing environment along with the support of a strong family atmosphere gave me and continues to give me with an edge over my peers. I'm most grateful for the long-lasting friendships I made. Even if I go long stretches of time without seeing old classmates, they remain some of my best friends. It's truly about the lifelong friendships and relationships.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS MEMORABLE BECAUSE OF the people. I had a lot of great friends and the administration was great. I was on the track team as a high jumper and had a lot of success, including a couple of state titles. We had a lot of fun at the home basketball games against rivals like Freehold and St. John's. CBA helped me to grow and change as a person by providing me with the tools I needed to succeed academically and building my character, which has been beneficial in the workforce.

I REMEMBER MY TIME AT CBA FONDLY. I WAS drawn to the school by its scholastic, athletic, and Catholic reputation. I was active in basketball, cross country, and baseball, but basketball was my first passion. It all started when I was in grammar school at Holy Cross Grammar School. I used to come and watch the CBA basketball games, and I knew that I wanted to play for the best high school program. I had some amazing mentors at CBA, like Coach Cox and Brother Richard. They led by example and were very professional and organized. My time at CBA was pivotal in my personal development. I found a pathway to personal growth with my classmates and teammates, and while living in California the past 45 years, I have rekindled several classmate relationships after attending our 50th year alumni weekend gathering. My time at CBA taught me discipline, maturity, and self-reliance. I was in the National Honor Society and was the sports editor for the yearbook my senior year. My greatest takeaway from my time spent at CBA was the pride I had in myself, my school, and my classmates. It helped me mature as a high schooler, and to be prepared for the college experience. I am very proud to be a graduate of CBA.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS memorable for many reasons, but the camaraderie I had and still have, with my classmates is something special. We became like a band of brothers and to this day, we still get together a few times a year. I was also on the chess team, and while we didn't always perform as well as we wanted, I learned a lot about working hard and pushing myself. One of the most influential people during my time at CBA was Brother Peter Mannion, one of the guidance counselors. He sat me down one

day and asked me what I read. I told him I read the Asbury Park Press and Sports Illustrated. He told me that if I truly read the articles, my vocabulary would improve. I didn't think much of it at the time, but years later, I was able to use a word like 'residual' in a conversation and the other person would be surprised. I'm grateful for the lessons I learned at CBA, especially the ones from Brother Peter. He taught me the importance of hard work and reading, and I will never forget him.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS TRULY MEMORABLE.

I had the opportunity to make friends with people from my classes and participate in intramural sports like football and track. I even had the chance to run in the freshman run, which was a cross country route. I was lucky enough to have Pat McDonough, the state champion cross country runner as my running buddy. I also went out for the track team, and we went to the state championships. I was determined to not be the slowest one on the team, and I ended up running the same time as the other three guys. I'm still in touch with some of the people I met at CBA, and I'm proud of the accomplishments of the school. It's amazing to see how much it has grown and changed over the years. MY TIME AT CBA WAS INCREDIBLY memorable. I was able to make friends with teachers, faculty, and other students, and the environment was so friendly. CBA had high expectations for its students, and I was fortunate to meet and exceed them. I made many friends at CBA that I still keep in touch with today. The most valuable lesson I learned was discipline and the importance of giving back. I was part of the surfing club, Model UN, and volunteered for the Special Olympics and Relay for Life. I also played soccer and ran track. My psychology class with Coach Vito and my anatomy class with Coach Mulligan helped me decide my major and career path. My time at CBA helped shape my values and family values, and I hope to pass them on to future generations. Senior Prom was a special moment for me and my classmates as it was the last time we were all together before going our separate ways. I was active in intramural sports and clubs, like the yearbook and the Real Man's Club. Mr. Fili taught us how to articulate arguments and use proper grammar, which I later taught to my own children. The brothers and teachers cared about us and wanted us to succeed. I still remember freshman Field Day, where upperclassmen encouraged us to finish the events. MY TIME AT CBA WAS INCREDIBLY memorable and stands out to me for many reasons. I had originally planned to go to Redbank Catholic, but my father brought home a brochure from CBA that was full of photos of the athletic fields and sports teams. I spent a lot of time on the athletic fields, playing pick-up basketball, tennis, Frisbee, and of course, interscholastic sports. I was on the soccer team, the yearbook committee, and the Intramural Football Program. I formed relationships with teachers, other students, and had a great academic environment. I was involved in a lot of activities during my time at CBA, but the most memorable and rewarding were the soccer team and the yearbook committee. I enjoyed laying out the pages and content for the yearbook, which I took with me into college and worked on the college newspaper. My time at CBA really prepared me for college and gave me a leg up. I learned to form deep friendships and depend on one another, which I was able to carry forward. MY TIME AT CBA WAS INCREDIBLY IMPACTFUL AND memorable. I was surrounded by amazing people, many of whom I still keep in touch with today. We all ran on the cross country and track teams and it was a very positive experience. My coach, Mr. Tom Heath, was an incredible mentor and advisor. He was the best track and field coach in all of New Jersey, and he had a strong influence on my life. My classmates were also a great source of advice and support. They all had successful careers and families and were very positive and giving. I ran cross country, indoor and outdoor track while at CBA and it was a great way to stay busy and meet some wonderful people. I had a strong support system of friends and family. Looking back at my time at CBA, I can say that it was pivotal in my personal growth. I was exposed to people from different backgrounds and areas and it had a positive influence on me. It prepared me for my life after graduation and helped me to incubate my talents and navigate my life. If I had the opportunity to consult with a group of young individuals who are contemplating attending CBA, I would tell them to go if they want to learn how to be successful, learn how to learn, and have positive influences in their life. ATTENDING A PRIVATE HIGH SCHOOL

based on a Catholic education was an important part of my upbringing. My dad was orphaned as a child and was raised by Christian Brothers. He felt it was his obligation to send his four sons to the same school, even though it was 25 miles away from our home. Although two of my brothers were less enthusiastic about attending, we all came out of it for the best and it helped with our success in life. CBA's values and curriculum were superior to a lot of schools, and they prided themselves on having students go to universities, like West Point, Annapolis, the Air Force Academy, and the Merchant Marine Academy. I went to Villanova and many of my classmates did as well. Most of my friends are now successful doctors, lawyers, and more. Attending this school was the basis of everything I had from there on out and it was a very special place to go.

CBA taught me the value of hard work and that I could accomplish anything if I put my mind to it. My advice to future students is to stay open-minded when it comes to making new friends and to take advantage of the unique learning environment. I'm most proud of the teachers and the camaraderie among the students at CBA.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS truly memorable. I was able to spend a lot of time with my classmates, both in and out of the classroom. I was also able to participate in sports, clubs, and organizations. I was part of the track and field team all four years, and we won county championships, short conference titles, and state championships. I was also inspired by a morning sports reporter to pursue a career in digital media and radio tv. My friend and I even started a podcast club. This experience helped me

2004

decide to pursue a career in e-commerce live streaming. I now work for Amazon Live, which is a shoppable live streaming platform. I am most grateful for the education I received at CBA. It kept us in the view of God's presence, and I am thankful for the guidance and direction I received from upperclassmen. When I think back on my time at CBA, I smile knowing that I was able to gain valuable experiences and knowledge that have helped me in my career.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE. I enjoyed the camaraderie and sense of unity among the students. Even today, I can still remember the traditions and events that were so special to me. I remember my dad teaching me how to tie a tie, and the pork roll sandwiches in the cafeteria. My wife and I have been vegan for five years, but we still remember the pork roll sandwiches! I also enjoyed the CBA dances, getting together with the girls. It was some of the best times of my life. My advice to current students is to follow your heart, follow your dreams, and always be open-minded to achieve your fullest potential. Life will have its ups and downs, but try to learn from those experiences and persevere. Always continue to learn and grow.

MY TIME AT CBA was truly memorable. I was surrounded by students who all had the same goal of succeeding, and it was a refreshing environment to be in. I was involved in the stage crew, and even acted in one of the plays my senior year. My senior English class with Hugh McKenna was particularly influential, and it was then that I decided to pursue English studies in college. CBA offered a lot of elective courses, which I took advantage of, and I really appreciated the liberal arts exposure to different genres of literature and history. One of the traditions I enjoyed the most was the father-son communion breakfast. It was a big deal for my father, who had not had the opportunity to attend college, and I was glad to be able to share that experience with him. My greatest takeaway from my time at CBA was that it helped me to know myself better. It gave me the opportunity to explore different classes and figure out what I was interested in, and by the time I got to college, I already knew what I wanted to do.

I REMEMBER THE profound impact CBA had on me. The relationships I formed with fellow classmates and friends will last a lifetime. Whether it was time spent in the classroom, on the field, or even working in the cafeteria during lunch period, CBA truly molded me into a responsible adult and helped me become the leader I am today. I will always be grateful for the opportunities CBA provided me and for all the donors without whom I wouldn't have been able to attend CBA.

I WAS INVOLVED IN A LOT OF ACTIVITIES DURING MY TIME at Christian Brothers Academy. I was on the newspaper, in a language club, and took three years of Spanish. After graduating in 1969, I went to Mount St. Mary's College in Emmetsburg, Maryland. William F. Buckley spoke at my graduation, and my parents and younger brother attended my graduation. My older brother went to Villanova and then New Hampshire, graduating five years later. My experience at CBA prepared me for college and my junior year abroad in Rome, Italy. I took two years of Italian in one year and was able to use my Spanish to get around. I also had the opportunity to travel to Amsterdam, Paris, and London during Easter break. We visited the Heineken Brewery and the Anne Frank Museum. At the brewery, we met an elderly gentleman who we later found out was Anne Frank's father. I still keep in touch with my ninth grade Theology teacher, Brother Bill Williams, who is mentioned in the book I wrote.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS FILLED with amazing memories. One of the most memorable experiences was when I was on the varsity crew team, and we won the 2011 Scholastic National Championship in the lightweight four. It was a blast! I also enjoyed the classes I took and the teachers I had, especially Carol, who knew my brother who was a 2002 graduate. Visiting the United States Naval Academy campus when my brother and sister were looking at colleges inspired me to follow

the path I'm on now. CBA taught me the value of a good education and instilled in me a strong work ethic. I still keep in touch with one of my friends from CBA; we get to see each other once. Graduating from CBA was a huge accomplishment, and it is a memory that always makes me smile. My greatest takeaway from my time at CBA is the value of a good education and the hope that I can one day put my kids through a school of the same caliber.

I ALWAYS KNEW I WAS going to attend CBA and I was the first in my family to do so. My parents wanted me to get a great education, and they knew about CBA's reputation. What stands out most from my time there is the brotherhood and support of both students and faculty. After graduating, I went to the University of Maryland and got my bachelor's in emergency health services. I then worked as a paramedic and started my own company. While at CBA, I wasn't

a great athlete, so I was a manager for the basketball and baseball teams. I also did bowling and a bunch of service projects. I am now proud to say that I have two sons who are following in my footsteps. My greatest takeaway from CBA is the tradition of educating young men in Christian morals and providing a fine education. I have no disrespect for public education, but there is nothing like getting a nice education from a school with great tradition.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS AN UNFORGETTABLE experience. I was able to participate in intramural football and indoor and outdoor track, while also achieving high academic success. I was even awarded the Brother McKenna English Award at the graduation ceremony. I was able to build my self-confidence and the camaraderie with the other students and the brothers was an unbelievable experience. I even got to share my experience with the CBA fencing team when I went down to coach at Columbia High School in Maplewood. I was able to tell them about the history of the school, my mother's involvement in the Father's Club, and the origin of the school's phone number. My time at CBA taught me how to study and how to budget my time, which has been invaluable in my coaching career. I'm grateful for the time I spent at CBA and the lessons I learned there.

MY TIME AT CHRISTIAN Brothers Academy was memorable for many reasons. I formed strong friendships with my classmates and had some amazing teachers who were both funny and knowledgeable. I was also active in the chess team and Chess Club, and we traveled to tournaments. I was never the best on the team, but

I learned a lot and it was a great experience. One class in particular, a statistics class in my senior year, had a big influence on my college major and career path. I ended up doing a double major in economics and statistics. I'm grateful for my time at CBA and the impact it had on my life.

MY TIME AT CHRISTIAN BROTHERS ACADEMY was a great experience. My father had been educated by the same order at LaSalle Military Academy. I was involved in a variety of activities, from cross country and intramural sports to theatrical productions and the math team. I had some amazing teachers, like Brother Ralph Montero, Brother Christian Jones, Mrs. Virginia Decker, and Mr. Peter San. I was also pre-med and was able to win a National Merit Scholarship. I was able to make lifelong friendships with classmates like Jim Lenhart, Daniel Malloy, Steven North, Peter Glaze, Jerry Kane, and Mike McDermott. I was able to attend events like the ring dances and proms. The greatest takeaway from my time at CBA was the high expectations, camaraderie, and respect that was embodied by everyone. MY MOST MEMORABLE TIME AT CBA WAS graduating and receiving the math award for having the highest four-year average in math. I had always been good with numbers and arithmetic, so it was no surprise that I excelled in math. I was also involved in sports, playing handball, softball, and bowling. I even got better at baseball in my 20s and early 30s than I was in my prime in school. I went to Stevens Institute of Technology for college and knew I wanted to be an engineer since I was 12. CBA was the best thing that could have happened to prepare me for engineering school, and I had no problems with my math courses.

I also had the opportunity to take a current events class, taught by the basketball coach, which was

I had a class on personal economics, which taught me how to buy stocks, a house, and insurance. I enjoyed attending the school's events and cheering on the Colts. MY EXPERIENCE AT CBA was truly memorable. Coming from a Catholic school background with nuns, I was initially reluctant to attend CBA. However, once I saw the brothers working with young men, it was a major eye opener for me. I enjoyed the camaraderie, sports, academics, and guidance we received as young men. I was like a kid in a candy store when I got to experience all the sports CBA had to offer. I was even able to discover some new talents I had, such as running cross

country. I was also able to take part in intramural football and track. Through my time at CBA, I was able to learn discipline and structure which helped me become successful in college and my business career. I was also able to meet students from different backgrounds which opened my eyes to what could be. MY TIME AT CBA was incredibly memorable. My father was on the board, and both of my brothers attended. It was great to go to school with them. I was a member of the cross country and track teams, and I learned a lot from Coach Tom Heath about working hard and developing leadership skills. I was a mediocre student, but I was lucky enough to be recruited to

Bucknell University for my athletic ability. Coach Heath had a significant influence on me and taught me the importance of perseverance and grit. I came in as a freshman feeling insecure, but I learned that you get out what you put in. My greatest takeaway from CBA is that there is a direct correlation between hard work and results in life. Talent and intellect are wasted if you don't apply yourself.

MY TIME AT Christian Brothers Academy was incredibly memorable. I learned the importance of hard work and discipline, which has been invaluable in my career as a trial attorney. I was the third in my family to attend CBA, and my two older brothers are doctors. I was the black sheep and chose to become a lawyer instead. I was involved in tennis, wrestling, and other activities while I was there. My favorite teachers were Brother Christian, my math teacher, and Ronald Burrow, my religion

teacher. Virginia Decker, my Spanish teacher, was also very passionate about teaching. I learned that you have to work hard to be successful and that preparation is key. I also learned that CBA is committed to getting better all the time and staying up to date with technology. MY TIME AT CHRISTIAN Brothers Academy was incredibly memorable. I made lifelong friendships, learned valuable lessons from teachers, and participated in intramural sports, stage crew, and the sci-fi club. My love of history helped me pick my major. CBA helped me learn the value of independence and self reliance, but also the value of having a team to rely on. We had traditions on stage crew before and after the show.

I'm most grateful for the support I received from the faculty and staff after my brother and I were in a car accident that proved fatal for my brother. MY TIME AT CBA WAS AN INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE.

I was able to participate in a variety of activities, both academic and extracurricular with my twin brother. We both enjoyed running, and Tom Heath was an extraordinary coach who provided us with a strong foundation. We also had the opportunity to learn from a number of outstanding teachers, including Brother Charles Baxter, Peter San, Brother Christian, Brother Robert Berger, and Ronald Burrow. These teachers provided me with a rigorous background in research and writing as well as a moral and ethical compass that was invaluable throughout my career and life. Brother Robert Berger was especially instrumental in helping me to integrate my religious beliefs into the Christian environment. Academy was truly memorable. I learned so many valuable life lessons and was able to grow and develop as a student and as a person. I was lucky enough to participate in sports and graduated with first honors in academics. I was also able to learn French from Brother Dennis, which I was able to use later in life when I worked in West Africa. Brother Bazillion was the most dominant teacher and had a major influence on me. I am most proud of being a 'brother's boy' and having five other family members attend CBA. I GREW UP IN ATLANTIC Highlands, which was about 11 miles away from Christian Brothers Academy. My parents valued a Catholic education, so they saved enough money for my brother Matt and me to attend CBA. My time at CBA was incredibly valuable and memorable. The brothers and lay teachers were great, and our class was very close. In fact, eight of us from St. Agnes went to CBA together, and one of my buddies is still my best friend today. I was active in track and field, camera club, and intramural football. CBA has prepared me for my

career and life after high school in many ways. The standards were higher than most schools, so I was prepared for college. The religion and discipline instilled in me has helped shape my personality and who I am today. When I reflect back on my time at CBA, I think of it as a special place. I always speak highly of it and encourage others to attend. CBA has had a lasting impact on my life, and I will always be thankful for the experience. 'Saint John Baptist de la Salle, pray for us. MY EXPERIENCE at CBA was truly special. I was able to participate in a variety of sports and clubs, including freshman soccer, varsity wrestling, freshman and varsity lacrosse, flag football, Lasallian Youth, and Catholic Athletes for Christ. I also took a religious studies class that allowed me to do a lot of volunteer service. What stands out the most to me is how everyone I encountered at CBA led by example and showed me what it means to live a good Catholic life. This

was especially true of my teachers, mentors, alumni, and other students. I was also able to take classes that helped me decide what I wanted to do in college and my career. In particular, I took physics and math classes with Mr. Midler and Mr. Frank, respectively, that really pushed me to pursue engineering. To this day, I still have a note that Mr. Frank wrote on one of my exams. I have been in my engineering career since February 2021 and I am grateful for the lessons I learned at CBA.

I WAS THE SECOND MEMBER OF MY FAMILY TO attend and graduate from CBA; my brother preceded me by four years. It was a huge honor for me and my family when I finished. It became a tradition in our family, and now both of my sons are attending. It's amazing to have the Fulcher Boys heading on over. CBA was challenging, but some of my favorite memories were outside of the classroom. I remember playing paddleball with Mr. Higgins and going on wilderness trips with John Young. We would track animals, learn to identify birds and plants, and even take camping trips into the Pine Barrens. Time management and work-life balance were priorities for me. I learned how to balance my academic workload with activities outside of the classroom. I also learned that there is a tradition bigger than just one person, and it's a great feeling to be a part of it. CBA has given me a great support network. Everywhere I go, I meet people who have been to CBA. It's an amazing feeling to know that I'm part of something bigger. I'm so proud of my family and all that CBA has done and is doing for us.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS TRULY MEMORABLE. THE quality of the teachers was outstanding, and Brother Patrick was like a father figure to many of us. He looked out for us and kept us in line. I was there for all four years of high school and the most valuable lesson I learned was time management. I was also very active in sports and clubs, playing on both the basketball and tennis teams and captaining the tennis team. We won the county and state title in my last two years. I went on to play Division One tennis at West Point and my involvement in sports taught me about team building and leadership. I also joined the school choir, which was run by Brother Patrick McNally. I enjoyed singing and it was a great way to get involved. I stayed in contact with some of my friends from CBA, but I went into the Army and traveled around the world. I was presented with the New Jersey State Scholar Athlete Award for 1973 at my graduation, which was a truly amazing experience. I watched a helicopter come in the middle of our graduation and a Two Star General got off and called my name out. It was a moment I will never forget.

REFLECTING BACK ON MY TIME AT CHRISTIAN

Brothers Academy, I am most grateful for the dedication of the brothers to teaching and guiding young men in a Catholic atmosphere. Athletics, friendship, and fellowship were some of the most memorable aspects of my time there. I learned the value of hard work and putting in effort to receive more in return. I remember the Asbury Park Invitational, where I was leading the quarter mile at record speed until I hit a sand pit on the track, and my legs locked up. I still finished the race in 60 seconds. My brother, Anthony, was in the class below me. He passed away 15 years ago. Mr. Mason, Tony Chesney, and another brother were some of the teachers who made an impact on me and helped me decide to major in data processing with a minor in mathematics. After high school, I enlisted

in the Navy and received a bachelor of science in computer science. I had a successful career with IBM and was sent to MIT for specific courses in engineering, sales, and marketing. I was a railroad industry specialist and conducted a study for Norfolk Southern that the CEO said was the best thing IBM had ever done for them. I retired from IBM and have been volunteering at the Springfield Soup Kitchen for 15 years, where I help serve 250 to 300 people a night. I have Parkinson's and am currently in a study with Ohio State University to find a cure. Reflecting back on my time at CBA, I am proud of how far the school has come and the programs that have been developed. It makes me smile to see the continuation of the school and the example that the brothers set of wanting to do God's will.

I REMEMBER MY TIME AT Christian Brothers Academy fondly. I was the first in my family to attend, and I was filled with a sense of pride and brotherhood. The faculty and coaches were outstanding, and I had some amazing teachers. I remember Mr. Keene, Dr. Gary, Koch, Monica Slattery, Maureen Buskin, Brother Andrew, Brother Ralph, Brother Frank, Brother Dan, and Mr. Greg Higgins. I have been able to stay connected with the school through the Alumni Association and the Capital Campaign Committee. When I graduated, I felt like I had truly grown into a man. I

was living proof of the school's motto. I was able to give back to the school through scholarships and fundraising opportunities, and I'm proud that today's students can benefit from the same great experiences I had. My advice to future students is to stay connected. Stay connected with the school, your classmates, your teammates, and your friends. Those friendships will last a lifetime. You'll be connected to one of the most powerful alumni networks. When I think back on my time at CBA, I smile. I'm proud of the impact my family and I have had on the school and the experiences I had there.

I HAD A GREAT EXPERIENCE AT CBA. I DIDN'T PLAY on any of the sports teams, but I did play intramural basketball. I made a lot of friends, and I'm still in contact with them through social media. CBA helped me grow into the person I am today, and I give a lot of credit to the faculty and staff there for teaching me discipline and responsibility. The most influential person I encountered was Dr. Koch, now Father Koch, who was part of the Guru Program. He helped me build confidence in speaking to groups of people and become a good leader. I'm grateful for the time I spent at CBA ,and it's cool to see how much it has evolved since I left.

MY TIME AT CBA was incredibly memorable. The classes, teachers, and rigor of the school prepared me for college in a way that I could not have imagined. I took AP classes and was trained for academics in a way that I could not have been anywhere else. My English teacher, Mr. Feely, had a huge impact on my outlook on the world and my thinking. I now teach English in a high school and I don't think

the students could handle the level of work that Mr. Feely taught. He taught AP English and exposed us to college level work and books that really mattered. My greatest takeaway from my time at CBA is that secondary education is capable of great things in the right hands. CBA is a model of what a school should be and I think the academics are what makes that place great.

I was fortunate to have teachers, like Tony Cheney and Jim Leo who were influential in my life. They taught me the importance of reaching out for help when I was struggling.

I ENTERED CHRISTIAN BROTHERS ACADEMY AS A 14 year old, still reeling from the loss of my father a few years prior. I had no real compass, but I was blessed to have Brother Richard McKay as my homeroom teacher and mentor. He took me under his wing and guided me for four years. Even after I graduated, we remained close. On my graduation day, he anonymously put a note in my diploma that said 'To the faculty of Rutgers, this young man can't miss.' I carried it in my wallet for 50 years and showed it to him at the 50th anniversary a few years ago. He had been my guardian angel for 50 years. I graduated from CBA with a clear direction for my future education and how I wanted to be as a man. The friendships I made there, whether it be teammates or classmates, were invaluable. We were all driven by our ability to excel and rise to the highest level. We helped each other through the challenges and shared values of wanting to help each other through graduation. I went on to receive a bachelor of science and Industrial Engineering from Rutgers University in 1972 and a master's degree in management engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology in 1974. I worked for Johnson and Johnson for 36 years, with various jobs from an entry level engineer up through sales, marketing, management, and global responsibility for marketing. When I think back on my experiences at CBA, I'm most grateful for the friendships and the values it instilled in me. I'm proud of the accomplishments I made and the life I've built since then.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS A CHALLENGING BUT rewarding experience. I learned the importance of perseverance and hard work, and that these qualities are essential for achieving success. I was also active in intramural full contact football and the golf team. I was fortunate to have teachers, like Tony Cheney and Jim Leo who were influential in my life. They taught me the importance of reaching out for help when I was struggling. I also learned the value of volunteerism and how it can help you reach your goals. CBA provided me with the foundation I needed to succeed in life and I am grateful for the lessons I learned there.

I HAD AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE AT CBA. The education I received was top-notch, and I felt like I was part of a tradition and a brotherhood that I don't think I would have gotten in a public school setting. I was also on the wrestling team, and we went from being ranked pretty low to 15th in the state by my junior and senior year. It was really cool to be part of that and build a team from nothing. We had a bunch of guys that wanted to work hard and support each other. My favorite memory was when we made it to the semi-finals of the short conference tournament and when we had a quad meet with a bunch of teams that we were evenly matched with. Our coach, Mike Baldi, had coached the coaches of the three other teams. Before the match, one of our assistant coaches, Todd Palmisano, put a note in every wrestler's locker. We ended up winning all three matches and it was a really cool memory.

I REMEMBER MY time at Christian Brothers Academy fondly. The most important thing that made my time there so memorable was the relationships I cultivated with the faculty. I had classes with the same teachers for multiple years. Through clubs and sports, I developed strong relationships with them. They became great academic advisors but also great personal advisors. Two people who stood out the most were Mr. Frake and Professor Widdis. They were not only great teachers but also great mentors and amazing friends. I'm grateful to still keep in touch with them to this day. When it came time to pick my career path and college, they helped me gain the confidence I needed to make the right decisions. They pushed me to challenge myself and apply to universities they thought I would excel at, and I'm so grateful for that. I am now a college graduate, and I am happy to say that I have had the best time over these last four years. I'm incredibly thankful to them for pushing me and giving me the right advice to go outside my comfort zone and explore things off the beaten path.

I REMEMBER MY TIME AT CHRISTIAN BROTHERS ACADEMY as a fantastic high school experience. I made lifelong friends. I was involved in clubs and sports. The lay teachers and brothers were dedicated to teaching subjects and values through using words, personal examples, and discipline. I keep in touch with some of my classmates from CBA. With my goal to become a chemical engineer, my counselor at CBA was instrumental in helping me decide between MIT and Notre Dame as my preferred school. He was honest with me about my SAT scores saying MIT was not likely and that Notre Dame would accept me, which turned out to be true. I ended up going to ND with four other classmates. At CBA, I grew and changed as a person. I became more confident in every area and I was ready for college when I graduated. I'm grateful to my parents for their initiative and sacrifices to enable me to go to CBA. I'm also grateful for the dedication of the brothers who provided a high quality, well rounded education focused on academics and extracurricular activities. Through many school activities, I got to know the brothers better; this enhanced the overall experience. They were very good teachers and great people who were not afraid to confront and counsel my off track actions when necessary.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS MEMORABLE FOR MANY REASONS. The brotherhood of the guys there was something I always remember. I did do some activities outside of school, like martial arts and archery, but nothing at CBA. The most valuable lesson I learned was how to effectively work with others and learn from others as well as the importance of teamwork and networking. I had some great teachers, like Mr. Kerr for physics, Mr. Santos for business, and Mr. Mattson for history. He was tough, but he was great and his way of describing history and explaining things that weren't in the book was really engaging. During my time there, I matured physically, mentally, and spiritually. I've kept in touch with some of my classmates, like Pete, and my teacher, Dr. Gary Koch, who is now Father Koch. The business class with Mr. Santos helped me decide on my major and career path. Graduation day was a proud moment for me and my family.

Academy with a sense of pride and accomplishment. I worked hard and played hard at CBA. I played football and ran indoor and outdoor track for four years. I was encouraged and well supported by my teachers and coaches, especially Mr. Vinny Cox, who was my history teacher and CBA's basketball coach. Mr. Cox helped me develop a life long love of history. Since graduating, I have kept in touch with a few of my classmates, including Bill and Mike. Bill and I live in the same town in Massachusetts and sometimes play golf and socialize together. I spent most of my career in international banking and lived overseas for almost ten years in Hong Kong, Singapore and Brazil. I graduated from Notre Dame, received a master's degree from Harvard, and worked for three major international banks. My wife Georgia and I have been happily married for 43 years. I have three children and three grandsons. My daughter, Britt, is an

architect and designer in Massachusetts. My son, Jack, is an officer of the Cargill Corporation, a Minnesota-based commodities multinational. My son, Gabriel, is a former US Army Ranger and decorated combat veteran of the Global War on Terror. He'll soon start graduate school to become a physician's assistant. My young grandsons are Owen, Max and Graham, who are the sons of Jack and his wife, Lauren, an emergency department physician in Minneapolis. Jack and Lauren are also Notre Dame graduates. When I think back on my time at CBA, I smile. I had many great friends, especially my football and track teammates. I had outstanding and dedicated instructors and coaches. I am grateful to them and the friendships and camaraderie I shared with my classmates and teammates. I'm proud that CBA seems to get stronger with each passing year, both academically and athletically.

WITH EACH passing year, my appreciation for my experience at CBA has increased. On the cross country and track teams under Coach Tom Heath, I realized that I could accomplish a lot more than I ever thought I could accomplish through dedication and hard work, while experiencing the camaraderie of a great team. This provided me with perseverance and a sense of responsibility that helped me succeed in meeting life's challenges. What made my time at CBA so important was the intellectual openness and flexibility of the brothers and lay teachers. They were open to engagement, argument, and debate in a way that I didn't anticipate from a 'parochial' school. There was nothing dogmatic about the experience and this openness and engagement helped me become more tolerant, interactive, and able to entertain many different types of ideas. Along with perseverance, this has been a major factor in my success in my life and career.

I had some of the best teachers I've ever had, such as Mrs. Slattery, Mr. Reagan, and Mr. L. They all had a huge impact on my life, and I'm so grateful for the time I spent at CBA.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS TRULY MEMORABLE. I WAS THE third of my brothers to attend the school and I was hesitant at first, but it ended up being the best choice I made. I learned more about myself and what it takes to work hard and push myself. I also discovered a love for volleyball, which I played for three years. The teachers were more than just educators - they made me a better person. I also enjoyed the big basketball games, even though we lost in the finals three times in a row. Now I attend the golf outings and it's always a great time. I also think back fondly on the camaraderie in the lunchroom with my classmates. I'm still friends with many of them to this day. CBA was an amazing experience and I'm so glad I chose to attend.

CBA WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN MY development as a human being and an eventual educator. Most importantly, it was the care and concern for my wellbeing that I remember most, which greatly influenced me when I entered the classroom as a teacher. When I was a sophomore, a girl I had been dating died unexpectedly. It was by far the most traumatic thing I had ever experienced, but the response from the adults at CBA was amazing. My counselor, Brother Augustine Nicoletti, and Father John helped me get through that dark period and taught me to deal with grief at a level I had never experienced. It wasn't just them with that incident though - it was many of the adults at CBA who helped me navigate all kinds of challenges I faced throughout high school. I believe I was able to harness that sense of pastoral care when I entered the classroom as a high school English teacher and as I became a high school principal. Now, I mentor teachers, students, and parents all of the time as a part of my job, and I am certain that I learned how to build these relationships through the modeling of these behaviors by the adults at CBA. I am indebted to CBA for many things, but I am most thankful for the foundation in relationship building rooted in a culture of care that has served me so well in life and my career.

I

REMEMBER MY time at Christian Brothers Academy fondly. I was lucky to have had some very memorable and high quality teachers when I was there. The friendships and bonds I made with my classmates were also unforgettable. Mr. Koch, who I had for religion, Mr. Cox for history, Brother Gregory, and Ms. Tracy for religion were all influential in my path after graduation. My education from CBA has helped me in life after graduation. Professionally in the classroom, when I'm observed, they come in and say that I have the order of a Catholic class. I attribute this to the order I had from my teachers in my Catholic school days. CBA also inspired certain qualities in me, such as honor and integrity, and encouraged a life-long learning. My greatest takeaway from my time at CBA is definitely the friendships I have. Some of them are still some of my very best friends today, and there's a bond that stays with anyone who went to CBA. Meeting people, they just know that we're Academy men and then there's a bond that stays with you forever.

I WAS THE FIRST one in my family to go to CBA, so it was a pretty cool milestone for me. I made some of my best friends there, and we still talk every day since we graduated back in 2017. I had a great support system there, both from the students and the faculty. One teacher in particular, Mr. Bill Frake, had a big impact on me. He was the one who got me involved in the group, Students Against Destructive Decisions. Being part of that group taught me the importance of making good choices, and it gave me the confidence to take on more leadership roles. When I went to college, I became president of the Wounded Warrior Project. I learned that in college, you have to take control of your own success. I was able to use the skills I learned at CBA to do that. One of my favorite memories of CBA was walking out of the school to the pipes and drums on the last day of classes. It was a great way to bring everything full circle and to leave the school with everyone. I am so grateful for my time there and all the lessons I learned.

I AM GRATEFUL for the opportunity to attend Christian Brothers Academy. It was an investment that my parents were willing to make and I am thankful for that. During my time there, I learned valuable lessons about leadership and discipline that prepared me for college. I was involved in varsity tennis and had some great teachers, such as Mr. McKenna, Mr. Meyer, Mr. Matson, and Dr. Koch. My favorite subject was math and I was able to do well in it. I have kept in touch with some of my classmates and have been back for a viewing and a reunion. CBA has prepared me to be a professional, to be well organized, and to have a strong work ethic. After graduating, I went to Georgia Institute of Technology and got my bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering. I then went right into the workforce and have been in Florida for two years. I am grateful for the great teachers, traditions, and experiences that CBA has provided me and I am continuing the Catholic education with my son.

ATTENDING CBA WAS A JOINT DECISION between me and my parents. My older and younger brothers also attended CBA, so it was a family affair. I was considering becoming a Christian Brother, but ultimately changed my mind. I was well-treated by the Christian Brothers and had the opportunity to visit places like Manhattan College. I was the chief editor of the yearbook with my friend, and Brother Edward Martin was a great help. Brother James made a difficult language easy for me to understand, and Brother Charles Baxter was great at teaching advanced American history. I also played intramural softball and soccer, and had four years of gymnastics. My biology teacher, Karen, was very helpful, and I did well in biology when I went to Georgetown. After Georgetown, I was in the hospital for two years and then took care of my father and mother until they passed away. I moved from Rumson to Redbank and I don't keep up with CBA much anymore. CBA was a great experience for me and I made some lifelong friends. It taught me the basics of reading and writing, which have been helpful in my life.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS truly memorable. The camaraderie among my classmates was like a family both inside and outside of the classroom. We had traditions that were instilled in us and still carry on today, even 15 years after graduation. The events and traditions I enjoyed the most were centered around faith. We would say 'St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us! Live, Jesus, in our hearts forever,' every single day in class. Even now, when I drive up to the school, I can still see that motto on the wall outside the school. One teacher in particular, Mr. Ross Fales, made a significant impact on me. He was my science teacher when I was a freshman and became the principal my junior year. I'm sure he still remembers me.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS TRULY MEMORABLE. I MADE lifelong friendships, learned to think critically, and was supported in my journey beyond high school. Mr. Feely introduced me to Native American culture and taught me to explore things that were foreign to me. Coach Mulligan and Coach Wiz taught me the importance of honesty and communication. Dr. Koch helped me explore my inner thought process and find what drives me. CBA provided an environment that was competitive yet supportive and camaraderie-filled. I am grateful for the education I received and the lasting relationships I have with my CBA friends. I highly recommend CBA to anyone looking for an amazing experience.

MY PATH THROUGH CBA WAS UNIQUE, BUT THE most important folks on my journey were Mr. Fili, Coach Wiz, Mr. Santos, my uncle, and Brother Andrew. Mr. Fili's class taught me a healthy skepticism of authority and to keep an open mind to all of life's possibilities, even if they're off the beaten path. He was also the first teacher to make me feel like my writing was any good. Coach Wiz brought me on as a varsity basketball team manager during my freshman year and showed me that I could be part of a successful team and that I could have a role in sports even if I was not gifted with athletic talent. Our CBA teams went 93 to 15 from 1999 to 2003. We won a sectional title and three Shore Conference titles, and we were ranked as high as ninth in the USA. Pegasus Theater showed me that I could be a part of great productions and have fun even if I wasn't the star. Mr. Santos and his economics class showed me studying business and sports was possible. My uncle, Henry, was from the class of

1964, and he was part of the first groups of students at CBA to pave the way for the rest of the CBA legacy since then. Brother Andrew convinced me and my parents that it was all possible, and that a kid like me from a lower middle class upbringing could go to CBA with financial aid. He gave me a chance at an education that could get me into college with scholarships that would pay back my parents contribution and then some. I'm grateful every day for how right he was and how it got me through Seton Hall University. CBA helped make me smart enough to figure out the skills to survive economic calamity, the sudden loss of a parent, and not having family money and connections to fall back on. I was lucky to make it through adversity to start my own sports and entertainment media company called Stream Punk Entertainment with several partners as a side business while still working full-time to create a platform for writing and content creation for a changing media landscape.

MY TIME AT CBA was a formative experience for me. I made lifelong friendships, learned from incredible teachers, and even worked in the maintenance staff for three summers. The teachers who had the most impact on me were John Przygocki, Chuck Tier, Julius Lelesi, Brother John Bassett, and Brother Bernard McKenna. I was also involved in intramural sports and helped with the plays. The sciences classes I took with John Przygocki and Chuck Tier helped me decide on my major for college, which was biology. I learned a lot about myself during my time at CBA. I was shy, but the structure and guidance of the school gave me more confidence. I also learned the importance of hard work and the value of behind the scenes work. The people at CBA had faith and trust in me and that made me feel confident that I could do anything. I am thankful for the lessons I learned and the experiences I had at CBA. I will always remember my time there fondly.

MY TIME AT CHRISTIAN BROTHERS ACADEMY WAS memorable for many reasons. The brothers gave us a great education, and there were only a few lay teachers. I was active in intramural soccer. I enjoyed the chemistry class taught by Brother William Martin and learned a lot about myself. I was a bit of a loner, so I did my homework on the school bus and in the cafeteria. I also enjoyed the freshman cross country run. I was prepared for college and was accepted to multiple colleges. I had a history teacher, Mr. Cox, who was also the basketball coach. My son, Daniel, graduated in 1993 and my other son, Ryan, graduated in 1999. He was a great hockey player. I have five grandchildren now. MY TIME AT CHRISTIAN Brothers Academy had a great impact on me. The challenges I faced there prepared me for college and beyond. I was well equipped to take on life after graduating. I was especially appreciative of my history teacher, Mr. Keen. He was unlike any other teacher I had and was able to open up our minds to education. I didn't participate in many activities, but I enjoyed my time there. After graduating, I went to UNLV and

got my hotel management degree. I ended up staying in the desert and making my way through the hospitality industry. I eventually made a change to real estate and have been loving it for the past five years. I found college to be a lot easier than my high school experiences because CBA was more demanding. I was well prepared for college and knew I had made the right decision in attending CBA.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS incredibly influential. My cross country coach, Coach Bennett, was a huge motivator for me, pushing me to do better and keep going. In the beginning, I was not a very good runner and struggled to keep up with the rest of the team. Throughout the season, he continued to motivate me to not compare myself to others but rather always improve upon myself. This is a lesson that is still influential to me to this day. My volleyball coach and science teacher, Mrs. Slattery, also had a great impact on me. She always had confidence in me and believed I could do well both in the classroom and on the court. She also wanted me to be the best version of myself. I remember

a volleyball match against a rival school, Southern. We won a set of the match and the entire gym was cheering for us. Mrs. Slattery was so proud of us for our teamwork and determination. While at CBA, I took many different courses, but I realized I was better with numbers than other skill sets. This lead me to my future career in finance. My experiences at CBA both inside and out of the classroom taught me some very valuable lessons. I learned the importance of being humble, and I grew and matured as a person during my time at CBA. I will always be proud to be an Academy man as well as a CBA Colt. It was an amazing experience that I will never forget.

I ENTERED CBA IN 1968 AFTER attending public grammar school. It was a bit intimidating at fi rst, but the structured environment was important for my development both personally and professionally. The staff of brothers and lay teachers were some of the most dedicated professionals I have ever met. Their influence still resonates to this day. In many ways, they taught me how to think - not what to think. A few of the brothers who guided me were Brother John Penna, Brother James Farrell, Brother Stephen McCabe, and Brother Dominic Gisondo. The lay teachers whose efforts and skills

made me a better student and man include Mr. Joe Pacelli, Mr. John O'Shea, Mr. Jim Collins, and Mr. Tom Heath. The coaches who taught me confidence and instilled a resolve to strive beyond what I thought were my boundaries were Mr. Dave Hyland, Mr. Terry Broderick, and Mr. Tom Heath. The CBA experience fostered lifetime friendships that are so valued - particularly as I grow older and have had the opportunity to reconnect with Patrick, Tom, and Anthony as well as many others. I was fortunate to have found my way to a long and successful career in law enforcement and retired from the Monmouth

County Prosecutor's Office as the deputy chief of detectives. With each successive promotion, I was always grateful to the foundation given to me by Christian Brothers Academy. Post-retirement, I have operated a private consulting business for over 20 years. I was blessed to be married to the same lady for nearly 41 years, who passed after a courageous battle with Parkinson's. I was further blessed with a wonderful daughter and son who have given me four outstanding granddaughters. I make a conscious effort to reinforce to them the values and love of learning taught to me at CBA.

CAREER success

I ARRIVED AT CHRISTIAN BROTHERS ACADEMY

with a lot of excitement and anticipation. I had heard great things about the campus atmosphere and the students. Little did I know that I would soon be involved in something I had never done before. My homeroom teacher was the assistant wrestling coach and he suggested I try out for the team. I was hesitant at first, but I decided to give it a shot. I even wrestled in my socks for the first few days because I didn't want to buy shoes until I was sure I would stick with it. Four years later, I had become a three-year varsity wrestler, a senior captain, and had a lot of success. Wrestling and CBA ultimately led me to Stevens Institute of Technology where I would continue my wrestling career and go on to study Business

Technology. I was so grateful for the opportunity and the experience I had gained. I felt prepared for the next level of my life, and I was ready to take on the world. I decided to pursue a career in consulting and sales. I worked for a number of large and startup companies, and now I'm at a healthcare startup leading an enterprise sales team. I'm aiming to become VP of sales and continue to grow in the startup space. Christian Brothers Academy gave me the foundation I needed to pursue my dreams. It taught me how to be a man, how to have faith, and how to respect others. It also prepared me academically for the next level of my life. I am forever grateful for the experience and the opportunities I had there.

My time at CBA also helped me mature and learn discipline. I was able to form relationships with people and build my network.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS INCREDIBLY formative and wonderfully memorable. The friends I made and my involvement with theater stand out the most. I really miss New Jersey as no one in my family lives there anymore. I stopped at CBA a few months ago just to look around. After graduation, I continued to act and later studied theater in Washington, DC. I have performed in theater productions of all levels over the decades. That led to directing which is another love of mine. My CBA education more than prepared me for college. In a lot of ways college was easier than high school. Four years at Notre Dame led to a year and a half of volunteer work in Anchorage, Alaska, which was which was life changing. After that, I landed in Annapolis, Maryland, in order to begin a career as a graphic artist in a small design firm. The next career step was to begin my own small graphic design company. Combining my love of theater with my love of graphic designer, I created Drama Queen Graphics. A few years ago, I began teaching graphic design as an adjunct professor at our local community college.

I REMEMBER MY TIME AT CBA FONDLY. IT WAS A welcoming environment, where people who played all different types of sports and belonged to many different clubs were open to everyone. I was part of the liturgical ministries as an Altar Server and Usher, and I appreciated being able to practice my faith at CBA. I look back on all the Masses in which I served as some of my best memories as a student. My economics class at CBA influenced me to go to a business school, and I haven't looked back since. Mr. Speidel and Mr. Santos were both influential teachers who helped me stay interested in math and economics, which really pushed me toward both Finance and Accounting. One of the most memorable experiences I had was our economics class project. I was elected project manager, and we created and sold wristbands and sweatshirts to the student body. It was a great opportunity to lead and develop my skills. My time at CBA also helped me mature and learn discipline. I was able to form relationships with people and build my network. I'm now a Finance and Accounting major, and I'm looking for internships with the 'Big Four.' I'm not sure where the future will take me, but I'm sure I'll be prepared thanks to my time at CBA.

The athletic programs were especially memorable and I was part of the varsity track team for years. Working with Tom Heath was one of the best experiences I had and he taught me about team building and leadership. The statistics class I took gave me a better appreciation for numbers and the financial side of economics. Tom Heath was a major influence and he instilled a lot of confidence in me as a young man. CBA helped me with self-discovery and prepared me for the future. I MOVED FROM NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, TO CBA in my sophomore year. I had just had surgery, but I still joined the track team and found a great camaraderie and wonderful coaches. I was never a great runner, but it was something that I enjoyed. I remember Dr. George Sheehan. After track team practices, I would often run with him. He seemed to take interest in me, and that really pushed me to give my all to not just track but to life in general. At CBA, I was well prepared for college, and I was able to get some scholarship money that was offered by Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. I graduated with a double degree in civil and material science engineering. It was after college that I really became a Christian in 1975, which was two years after I was married. I had always had the dream of having my own company, so after working for others for ten years, I started my own business in 1981 and sold it in 2021. My time in school and college shaped me for my career. CBA prepared me for college well, and Vanderbilt opened doors for me after that. My organization grew, and I did some design and building construction and disaster response. While we were not big, we did employ over 1,000 people in a given year. While work provided a good living and allowed us to invest in worthwhile causes, my passion has been to travel to other countries. I traveled overseas to South and Central America, Europe and East Africa to preach the gospel and start churches and Bible schools. I am preparing to go back to Kenya this July to meet with locals and plant churches. My greatest takeaway from my career is having a relationship with Jesus Christ and understanding why I'm here. I've been able to use my talents and resources to spread the Word of God while honoring Him in the process. My wife and I celebrate our 50th anniversary this August. We have three daughters and eight grandchildren. Life is good.

I was involved in sports, playing golf and tennis with Brother Patrick as my tennis coach. He was a good guy and pushed us hard to be the best. After leaving CBA, I attended Trenton State and eventually switched to business. Looking back, I can see how my time at CBA helped me grow and become

successful. I now own Epic Collision, an auto repair business, and have been running it for almost 40 years. I've learned to be fair with my employees and treat them like family, and many of them are retiring with me soon. I HAD A GREAT EXPERIENCE AT CHRISTIAN Brothers Academy. I was part of the math team, and we were one of the top teams in our two regions. We even made it to the New York State Championships. I really enjoyed working with the brothers, and I even went to a Christian Brothers college afterwards. My favorite teacher was Brother Christian Jones. I was also in a public speaking class, which really helped me in my career as a teacher. I originally wanted to go into biomedical research, and I got a PhD in neuroscience and was doing research for about ten years. I then applied for a teaching position at University of Mary, and I moved out to North Dakota. I have been teaching at University of Mary since 1997, which is 26 years. I think the thing I really appreciated about CBA was the expectation of doing the best you can do. It set me up for going to college, becoming a biology major and even meeting my wife in college. I am now married to her for 40 years and I am grateful for the experiences I had at CBA.

MY TIME AT CBA was truly memorable. I was part of a winning cross country team that won the Eastern State Championship in my sophomore year. I was also able to take classes that helped me decide on my major for college and my career path. My favorite teacher was Brother Patrick and my coach Tom Heath. I grew a lot as a person while I was there. I became more mature and had a better idea of what I wanted to do in the future. I ended up majoring in history

MY TIME AT CHRISTIAN Brothers Academy was incredibly memorable. I was able to build strong relationships with many of the teachers, which I have been able to maintain contact with even after graduating. I now work for Lockheed Martin as a guidance navigation control engineer, and I credit CBA for helping me to be as prepared as I could be for college. I was also involved in many of the traditions and events, such as the ring dances, proms, and homecomings. My greatest takeaway from CBA was to have faith - if one way doesn't work, you'll find another. I'd like to give a shout out to my close friend Kevin Boyle as well as all the teachers and guidance counselors who had a hand in helping me get to where I am today. Lastly, I'd like to thank my family for giving me the opportunity to attend CBA.

and political science, and my background in those subjects helped me throughout my career in the pharmaceutical industry. I have worked for large and small pharmaceutical companies, biotech startups, oncology companies, and companies based all around the world. I am grateful for the relationships I built while at CBA and for my parents having the foresight to send me there. Thinking back on my time at CBA always brings a smile to my face.

I ATTENDED CBA, WHICH WAS THE NUMBER ONE college preparatory high school in the area, and I was part of the sixth graduating class. I was involved in track, field, and basketball, and our teams had some great successes, like placing second and third in the state competition for the high jump. I was lucky to have some great faculty members, like Steve McCabe, the vice principal; Brother Burns, the principal; Brother Malachy, the coach; and John, the calculus professor. CBA had a great outlook on faith and held true to that.

After CBA, I flew P-3s for the Navy for 20 years. I then worked in Philadelphia chasing IPO companies and eventually moved to Florida. I helped start a charter school and then set up an aviation program at Trinity Catholic, which now has a successful pipeline of producing private pilots before they graduate. My time at CBA was invaluable, and I'm grateful for the lessons I learned there.

I LEARNED A VALUABLE lesson in integrity during my time at CBA. I was involved with the baseball and math teams, and one of my most memorable moments was hitting a home run on the field. I played catcher and base for three years and stayed in touch with my math mentor, Brother Christian. Mr. Whiz was our coach and teacher, and he was a larger-than-life character with a big personality and strong focus. CBA taught me discipline

and focus, which has helped me throughout my life. I received a bachelor of science from Stevens Institute of Technology, and I am now working as a vice president and managing actuary for a UI consulting group. I have been with the company for 20 years. When I think back on my time at CBA, I am most grateful for the camaraderie with my classmates, the strong teachers, and the great Athletic Program.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS an amazing experience that I wouldn't change for the world. I was involved in intramurals and enjoyed the campus atmosphere. CBA prepared me for the next level in my life, and I went on to become a forensic accountant. I work in complex commercial litigation, matrimonial litigation, and value closely held businesses. My greatest takeaway from CBA is that it does an outstanding job of preparing boys to become men. I'm so grateful for the experience and the positive impact it had on my life.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS INCREDIBLY MEMORABLE. I was taught to be responsible and honest, which shaped me into the man I wanted to be. I made lifelong friends and played track and field for three and a half years. The science classes, especially Neil Bagley's physics class, pushed me towards a biology major. CBA helped me become more responsible and level-headed. The Freshman Run and Tie Ceremony were traditions I remember fondly. I'm most grateful for how much CBA prepared me for the next level of education and beyond that, for being a family man and job man. I still hold on to a lot of the values and lessons I learned from my four years at CBA.

I WAS ALWAYS A BIT OF a troublemaker in high school, but I was also determined to make something of myself. I played intramural football and had one year of wrestling, but I was also very active in school comedies and skits. I was so passionate about it that I won the Most Improved Student Award in my senior year. After high school, I was determined to make a difference in my community. I served as mayor of Redbank, New Jersey, for 16 years and testified before the New Jersey State Senate on legislation. I served on a number of boards of nonprofits and was even asked

to become a member of the CBA Hall of Fame. I went to college, law school, and post-graduate studies, and CBA prepared me academically and from a selfdiscipline standpoint to do well. I was also lucky enough to go to Europe with CBA for a month, which was a great experience. My advice to current CBA students is to appreciate the value of academics and take advantage of the discipline CBA provides. It will prepare you to enjoy a wonderful life and work hard. I've been very blessed in life and I'm grateful for the opportunities I've had.

I HAD A LOT OF FUN WITH MY CLASSMATES at CBA. I was involved in the Wrestling Program, and we ended up winning the districts in my senior year. I was celebrated in 2016 for the CBA Athletic Hall of Fame and my grandson now wants to go to the school. I made the decision to go to CBA, and I'm glad I did. I experienced a lot of social change during my time there - from the Martin Luther King movement to the Vietnam War. I also rubbed shoulders with some amazing people. I went to California for college and then came back to the East Coast for a job at the New York Stock Exchange. I've been living in Jackson ever since. I'm now getting to the age where I'm starting to remember people who have passed away, but I'm still looking forward to having my grandson go to CBA, and I'm excited to attend the Hall of Fame induction in March.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS INCREDIBLY memorable and stands out to me the most. The school put a lot of emphasis on college prep and making the most of our time after we leave. I was involved in stage crew, which was a great opportunity to be around like-minded people in a different environment. Academically, CBA was tough, but it set me up for whatever life would throw at me. Through my performance and the reputation of CBA, I was afforded opportunities that I don't feel I would have had elsewhere. CBA not only gave me a mindset to succeed, but also through networking and associating with the alumni, it set me up for the future.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS

incredibly memorable. I was very active in speech and debate and qualified for three national tournaments. I actually met my future wife while I was judging contestants at a speech competition that CBA sponsored. I only found that out after we were married. I gave her a Botherwise, she had all As. I was also in the school play, read the announcements from the office at the end of every day, and played intramural sports. I was the captain of the soccer team in my senior year and played goalie in our first interschool game. I was also an editor of the newspaper. I remember leading pep rallies with my classmate, Frank, and riding my motorcycle into the gym for one of them. It was really fun to play Santa at our Christmas dance during my senior year. I was rewarded for my hard work with a scholarship to Ripon College. From there, I went to Georgetown University Law Center. I

learned that you have to work hard and work with others to make the most of your experiences. I made some great friends, and I also developed strong relationships with a number of brothers, particularly Brother Richard, who was responsible for our theater productions and set up a program with the Good Shepherd Home. This was a wonderful experience and taught me that reaching out to others was essential. I learned that success comes from dedication to achieving your goals. I took this lesson with me into college, law school, and my career. It all began with the education I received at CBA. I will be forever grateful for the guidance, inspiration, and support that was given to me during those four formative years. The moral and religious values that the school fostered stayed with me throughout my professional and personal life. Thank you, CBA, for truly preparing me for the life that was to come.

I HAD A GREAT experience at CBA. I really enjoyed the sense of camaraderie among the students and the teachers were very knowledgeable and funny. I was in the liturgical band, and I found that to be very enjoyable as it was a nice way to contribute to the school and do it in a religious way that was in line with the Catholic values and mission of the school.

I also enjoyed Ash Wednesday. I am most grateful for the education I received at CBA as it gave me a good foundation for going on to college and law school. I AM GRATEFUL FOR my time at CBA. It taught me the importance of brotherhood and developing relationships that have lasted for over 20 years. I was also involved in the hockey team and the sense of camaraderie that we shared was special. One of my most memorable moments was when I got the call from our coach that I would be dressing in my first game. My parents were so excited and it gave me a sense of accomplishment. We even won the

Gordon Cup my senior year which was a great sense of pride. CBA also helped me mature faster than public school and prepared me for college and life. I graduated with a bachelor's degree from Penn State University and now I am a wealth advisor at RDM Capital Associates. I help families come up with financial plans to help them reach their goals. I am grateful for my time at CBA and would not hesitate to send my son there in the future.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS truly memorable. The level of education was excellent and prepared me for college and dental school. I was part of a small class of 212, which allowed us to form close relationships that have lasted decades. My favorite classes were all sciences, math, physics, and chemistry, which were essential for my career as a dentist. After CBA, I attended Upsell College and Fairly Dickinson University School of Dentistry. I was a dentist for four years before I retired. When I think back on my time at CBA, I'm most grateful for the people I went to school with. We had a great time and even had a reunion to reconnect with some of my classmates. It was a great experience and I'm thankful for the memories I made there.

doctor and notably the doctor for the basketball team. I visited CBA regularly from the age of 5, and I never sat on the CBA side of the gym. My dad would sit near the locker room door during games when we accompanied him. As a student, I was basketball team manager for four years, including the 1973 state championship season. As for teachers, I credit Julius Lelesi and his science fiction elective. We read and wrote science fiction stories, and it really stretched my imagination. Professionally, I was a highly respected editor in the newspaper industry for 42 years. I started at The Daily Register and I worked at The Bergen Record, The News Tribune,

the Home News Tribune and the Asbury Park Press, where I directed the statewide copy and layout desk. I retired from the USA Today corporate editorial staff in 2018 as a national journalism trainer. I did a two-year stint at the New Jersey State AFL-CIO before retiring for good in 2021. CBA had a big impact on me. I'm grateful for the friendships I made and for my family's record of having six graduates from CBA. My daughter was born just hours after the music started at my 10-year reunion. The Dr. William J. ATTENDING CBA WAS INITIALLY my grandfather's idea after he heard great things about the school's rigorous academics. I decided to attend after my first visit during the school's open house. I had a lot of great memories there, like learning Latin and dissecting all sorts of things in anatomy class. My time at CBA had a major impact on my life as it was there that I discovered my interest in a career in law. While there, I learned that if I applied myself, then I could accomplish a lot and have a tremendous impact on myself and those around me. CBA means a lot to me as it was the foundational stepping-stone that propelled me to take the next step in life and become more of the man I am today.

I REMEMBER MY TIME AT CBA fondly. One of my favorite teachers was Brother Christian, who taught AP Calculus. I made some lifelong friends while I was there, and we still keep in touch online. I was also active in the track team and competed in pole vaulting. I was part of the pit crew for the musicals. AP Biology and Calculus were two of my favorite classes. After graduating from CBA, I went to

Harvard for my undergraduate degree. After that, I spent a year living in China teaching English, followed by a year in Singapore doing the same. I then went to Indiana for medical school and my training. I returned to Boston, where I've been working for the past four years. My usual routine these days is trying to enjoy as much time as possible with the family, traveling with the kids, and enjoying every minute I can.

I HAVE BEEN TRADING STOCKS for over 40 years. My father wanted me to go into the same career as him, so he directed me to CBA, a high school in my town. I got a great education and made wonderful friends. I even bought a house close to the school and attended basketball games. I had to pay attention in class and do a lot of homework. I enjoyed the Intramural Program and playing baseball and golf. After high school, I went to University of

Dayton for a year and then Monmouth College. I started as a specialist clerk on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange and worked there for nine years. I then went upstairs as an over-thecounter trader for 12 years. I took a break and went into the golf business for a year and a half. I then went to my cousins' day trading operation for a number of years. Trading stocks has been in my blood for a long time, but I don't do it anymore. I only buy one or two stocks a year.

One of the most impactful experiences was going on a Habitat for Humanity outing with my classmates and teachers during my senior year. We traveled to West Virginia and helped build a house for a family in need. This was a great example of the CBA values of faith and service, and it strengthened the bonds among my classmates. My greatest takeaway from my time at CBA was the emphasis on faith and acts of service. It was like a brotherhood of people who shared similar values and faith, and it was nice to know that no matter when someone graduated from CBA, they had those same values.

I ATTENDED CHRISTIAN Brothers Academy because there was no high school in my hometown. I took the exams for both CBA and St. Mary's in South Amboy and decided to go to CBA. I knew some of the other boys who were going there, and we are still good friends today. I played intramural football and wrestled for a year. My mom was very sick, so I couldn't stay late after school a lot. I had a lot of support from teachers and counselors, especially Brother Bazillion, Brother Alohas, and Mr. Cheney. They pushed me, and they were easy to talk to. I learned that I could be independent without relying on others to help me. CBA prepared

me for college and life. I went to college for a year before I got drafted. I finished my bachelor's degree while working and then went to the Army National Guard and their officer candidate program. I learned the importance of teamwork and self-discipline. I was able to help a student get a four-year scholarship to CBA and it was a beautiful honor. I have fond memories of running on the indoor track where the horses used to run and Brother Bazillion whacking us with a pointer when we were bending over to put our sneakers on. CBA was a great experience and I am thankful for the support I received and the lessons I learned.

My greatest takeaway from my time at CBA was the emphasis on faith and acts of service. It was like a brotherhood of people who shared similar values and faith, and it was nice to know that no matter when someone graduated from CBA, they had those same values.

I REMEMBER MY TIME AT CHRISTIAN BROTHERS Academy fondly. After school, my friends and I would stay late every day and participate in the intramural athletic programs. CBA was much different back in the 1960s with many brothers on the faculty. I struggled in the transition from elementary school, but the brothers reinforced the environment I was used to. I have recently served for ten years on the Board of Trustees for CBA, and I have been able to witness the growth and the continued legacy that CBA brings to today's generations of young men. I went to St. Bonaventure University after graduating from CBA, and the academic discipline and college preparation I received from CBA proved to be invaluable. I was a walk on for the swim team and had to manage my

time to stay involved in athletics and extracurricular activities. The CBA community is a lifelong opportunity. Along with a few others, I started the Alumni Association in 1986 to bring alumni together and create more community. With the help of social media, the Alumni Association has exploded. My advice to someone choosing to attend CBA today is to take advantage of the lifelong opportunity it provides. You will be part of a fraternity and brotherhood for the rest of your life, and alumni are always willing to help. CBA is a journey, and it will give you a chance to be a part of a huge legacy. Many of my life long friends are men I attended CBA with not just in my class but multiple classes.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS an amazing experience. I got to meet so many new people and make some great friends. During freshman year, I was especially excited for orientation. It was so much fun getting to know the other students and experiencing what it was like to be on campus. I also got to play intramural sports and work with the stage crew backstage. It was a great experience. My English class with Mr. Nunan was especially memorable. We had a really in-depth experience learning about literature and the history of literature. It was really interesting and I learned a lot. My time at CBA helped me to respect others and find the leadership qualities in myself. I'm still in contact with a few friends from CBA, and I'm so grateful for the relationships that have lasted decades. My greatest takeaway from CBA is the experience of trying to be a good student and a good person in general. It has helped me to pave my way into the future and I'm so thankful for the time I spent there. Make things happen.

I WAS NOT HAPPY WHEN my parents chose CBA for me to attend. I was so uninterested in school that I failed three classes my sophomore year and was asked to leave. Fortunately, my principal, Brother Steven McCabe, gave me a second chance and I was able to make up the classes I failed. I was even swimming in the ocean one day when Brother Steven swam out to me to tell me I was readmitted. After that, I completely accepted the opportunity and had some great teachers who helped me grow up. I

1976

was able to play baseball in my junior and senior years. After graduating, I went on to college and eventually came back to CBA to teach for 30 years. CBA taught me the values and work ethic that I needed to become a mature young man. I was even able to share the life lessons I learned with my students. CBA is a place where the brotherhood stays with you for life. It takes average students and drags them to the top end of average. I am a testament to that, and I am so grateful for the opportunity I was given.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS incredibly memorable. Despite being legally blind, I was determined to be independent and not ask for any special treatment. I faced challenges, but despite these obstacles, I was able to overcome them and even plan two proms that I never attended. I was also able to pay for my own tuition by working jobs on the weekends

and during the summer. My guidance counselor was incredibly supportive and I was able to connect with people older than me, which gave me a greater respect for others. I also learned how to type in third grade, which has been incredibly helpful in my professional career. I learned that I could be a leader and be successful, no matter the obstacles.

MY EXPERIENCE AT Christian Brothers Academy was invaluable. I was part of the second graduating class. It took four years to bring the school to a full contingent of students from freshman to senior. I was involved in the Intramural Program and was an originator of the St. Patrick's Day Parade. I was also active with the Alumni Board. I am most grateful for the education I received from the brothers. They not only educated me academically, but also made me a better person mentally and physically. After graduating, I attended junior

I fi nished my degree at Monmouth College and started my master's degree, but got politically involved and eventually got a state pension. I'M SO GRATEFUL FOR MY TIME AT CBA. IT TAUGHT ME the value of community and how to be the best version of myself. I had amazing teachers who taught me how to think, question the status quo, and be a better writer and thinker. One of my most memorable moments was the funeral of one of our beloved basketball coaches, Mr. Wheeler. It was a sad moment, but it was emblematic of our community and how we all came together to honor his memory. I'm also grateful for the world-class education I received, which prepared me for college and beyond. I'm thankful for the educators and people who were at CBA for so long, and for the group of guys who cared about growing as men and being good people and Christians. I'm thankful for the choices I made in high school, which shaped me into the person I am today.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS MEMORABLE FOR many reasons. From the teachers like Father John, Brother Leo, Mr. Feely, and Mr. Meyer, to the activities, like the forensics of speech and debate team, which earned CBA's first ever first place victory in speech and debate. I was even part of the Real Man's Club, which had its own t-shirts. I had some great literature teachers, and Father John was a mentor. I made some lifelong friends while I was there, though I've lost touch with many of them since I moved to Florida. I still occasionally reach out to them on social media. I also had a friend who attended CBA for a while, but he was a friend before we went to CBA together, and he's still my best friend. I was involved in the speech and debate club, liturgy, and track freshman year. I was also on speech and debate junior and senior year, and Bob, Casey, and I had high placings in public speaking. We led the team to their first team victory as well as my first place victory in pursuit speaking for the team. I didn't have the computer classes at CBA, so I took a detour with my career path. I majored in education for a while, but after student teaching, I realized that wasn't for me. I pivoted back into information technology and eventually graduated with a bachelor of science in cybersecurity. I didn't attend prom because I was working that night. I was a bit of a workaholic and had to pay for a car and save up for a trip. After graduating, I spent 25 years in information technology and cybersecurity, serving in various roles, including seven years of management. I'm currently serving as a senior technical expert to the number one retailer in the world. My time at CBA was memorable, and I'm grateful for the experiences and people I encountered there.

Grateful for my time at CBA; go Colts!

LOOKING BACK ON MY time at CBA, I'm filled with fond memories. Participating in extracurricular activities, like theater and the tennis team, as well as the camaraderie of being in an all-boys school, were some of the most memorable experiences. We won the first stage championship in 20 years during my senior year, which was a great accomplishment. Theater was a great experience; it helped me come out of my shell. I had a great relationship with the Christian Brothers, which was part of the reason I chose to attend LaSalle University. I also had a history

teacher, who gave me great advice that I still carry with me today. He said to take on everything, try everything , and always be doing something. I enjoyed the traditions and events, like the ring dance, prom, and homecoming. Graduation day was bittersweet as I was looking forward to college but also reflecting on how much I enjoyed my time at CBA. The atmosphere of being surrounded by like-minded young men with similar values and character traits was something I couldn't replicate anywhere else.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS TRULY MEMORABLE IN THAT our class was the first to matriculate to the beautiful campus in Lincroft on a former thoroughbred training facility on 167 bucolic acres in 1963. The eight classrooms and cafeteria were in a converted horse barn and would be home for our freshman and sophomore years. By junior year the new school was completed with state of the art equipment at the time. The class size was an intimate 144 allowing for a close knit group. Looking back on the experience, I feel our group took a unique chance on attending a school with no graduates or any track record of performance. While it can take decades to develop a scholastic legacy, sports legacies can happen quickly through measurable successes. That opportunity did develop with CBA competing for County and State Parochial titles in track and basketball in just three short years. Returning to campus in recent years exposes how development now surrounds the property where none was visible in the early years. The recent 50-year reunion and commencement ceremony is a nice new legacy for all to experience. Like my classmates I am thankful for the education and always proud to be a Christian Brothers Academy graduate.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS incredibly memorable. I made some of my closest friends there, many of whom I still see frequently. Going to an all-boys high school was a unique experience, and it taught me a lot about discipline, ethics, and faith. REFLECTING ON MY TIME AT CBA, I AM FILLED with fond memories. The sense of community and camaraderie was something I took for granted at the time, but now I realize how significant it was. I was active in the Lasallian Youth Club, where we went out to under-resourced schools and helped improve their classrooms. I also took a film history class that inspired my focus on fine art. My college advisor, Mr. Brennan, was extremely supportive of my interest in the art world. During my time at CBA, I learned to carry myself in a professional and courteous manner. Academically, I was well prepared for college and the transition was much easier than it could have been. I am grateful for the lasting friendships I made and the pride my family had on graduation day. Although I have not been to any formal reunions, I still drive past CBA ,and it brings back fond memories.

MY TIME AT CHRISTIAN BROTHERS

Academy was truly special. I was fortunate to receive a great education, but what made it truly memorable were the friends I made and the activities I participated in. My father worked extra jobs to pay my $500 tuition, which made me feel so loved. I was involved in extracurricular activities, like playing full gear football with equipment, which was quite the experience. I was in the barn my first year. We didn't have a cafeteria or library, but we had Brother Benjamin Benedict who had a cart that he would walk around from classroom to classroom. This was our library. I also remember Brother Kevin, who taught me geometry and would play basketball with us if it was warm enough. Brother Dennis tried to teach me Spanish, but it didn't work. We also had a lay teacher named Bob Nathan who wrote on my term paper that it was the finest high school term paper he had ever seen. I still go to every basketball game home and away with my best friend from the class of 65, Bob Brown. We don't care where it is, we'll go to North Jersey, South Jersey, wherever. I'm also grateful for the brothers who would stop what they were doing to talk to us if we had a question or problem. They really took an interest in how we were going to turn out. I'm grateful for the lessons I learned about respect for myself and others, and understanding that if you screw up once, you can fi x it and do better. I'm also grateful for Brother Amity, the dean of men. I'm grateful for the support and role models I had at CBA.

MY EXPERIENCE AT Christian Brothers Academy was very memorable. I was there for four years, from freshman to graduation in 1965. I was very active in the intramural sports program, playing football and basketball for three and four years respectively. I also tried out for freshman track, but gave it up. I was very involved in the school, and even now I am the class rep for 1965 and part of the alumni association. I still attend basketball and baseball games, and even went to the World's Fair for the senior class trip. The camaraderie between the students and teachers was something that really stood out to me. We had to wear a shirt and tie every day, which was a big deal. We also had traditions like dances and the ring dance. We even won the state championship in 1965, which was a great experience. The greatest takeaway from my experience at CBA was the respect that we had for each other. Everyone got along and it was like a brotherhood. It was a very special time in my life and I am grateful for the memories I made there.

I ATTENDED CBA FROM 1964 to 1968. It was a simpler time, and the faculty was mostly made up of brothers. I ran track and held records in the sprints. I felt a sense of accomplishment and pride. The school prepared me well for the military, and I was drafted in 1970.

I served for two years, and one of those years was in Vietnam. After that, I became a carpenter and worked in construction until I retired. I have three kids, and I'm happy with my life. I'm one of three CBA alumni in my town, and there are over 100 in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

I have completed over 100 triathlons the past 30 years.

I KNEW THAT CBA WAS THE SCHOOL for me. My oldest brother was part of the second graduating class, and my closest brother was in the class of 1976, so my parents had already made the decision for me. I was never the best student, but I found my passion in sports. I wrestled, pole vaulted, and ran cross country. I have continued to complete over 100 triathlons, and this year, I'm competing with my two daughters and future son-in-law in the age group triathlon National Championships. My biggest takeaway from CBA was perseverance. I learned that no matter what, you just have to keep going forward. I didn't keep in contact with many of my classmates, but recently, Bob has organized a class reunion in New York City on the Monday before thanksgiving. It's been amazing to get together after all these years and see what everyone has been up to. I'm grateful for the lessons I learned at CBA and the relationships I made. It's been a long journey, but I wouldn't change a thing.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS memorable because of the close-knit community I was a part of. I was inspired to pursue my chosen path after CBA by the cumulative impact of the educational experience. I was part of a program called Guru, Giving Us Religious Understanding, which helped me to mentor younger

students and pass on CBA traditions and values. Through this program, I was challenged to find and push through my boundaries, which helped me to grow and change as a person. My education from CBA provided me with a strong foundation for life after graduation.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS TRULY MEMORABLE. I WAS PART OF the original wrestling team with the legendary coach, Tony Chesney, when I was 14 years old in 1961. We started out as a club and eventually became a fairly significant wrestling power. We didn't have a lot of equipment or weights, but we ran around the infamous track. I eventually cracked the varsity line up in my junior year. I have had the opportunity to go back and see how far wrestling has progressed at CBA. I keep in contact with one of the alumni, John Martin, and I see that they have done quite well. It has become a great place to go to high school. My time at CBA helped me grow and change as a person. We had a tough coach, Tony Chesney, and if you could survive his training, the Army was easy. He was a mentor and a tough coach, and it was a good experience. CBA was very competitive back then and I was not the best scholar, but I got through. I am most grateful for the foundation of faith that CBA set for me. The brothers were a remarkable example in scholarship and in the way they lived. This kept me grounded and I am still active in my church.

I TRANSFERRED to CBA in my junior year and had to interview with Brother Stefan to be accepted. I had worked all summer and during the school year to save up the tuition money, which I think impressed him. I was on the track team and competed in sprints and relays. I learned a lot about team building and leadership from my involvement in the sport. The brothers at CBA had a very positive influence on me and I admired them all.

1974

I graduated from Syracuse University in 1972, George Mason School of Law in 1980, and the University of Maryland School of Social Work in either 1997 or 1998. My greatest takeaway from my time at CBA is that it prepared me for my future and helped me get my mindset where I wanted it to be for my professional career. I am grateful for the opportunity to have attended CBA and for the positive influence of the brothers.

I'M VERY CONNECTED WITH CBA. I was on the board for 13 years, and I was the president. I was in the hall of fame, and I was an honoree for the golf tournament.

CHRISTIAN BROTHERS ACADEMY TAUGHT ME TO WORK hard in a way I didn't know I was capable of. CBA was a lot of hard work, but I was still captain of the lacrosse team and president of the Student Government. Being part of the team was special. What stands out was the time Bill scored a hat trick. I had to work very hard to get where I'm at in my career, and that level of work was something I first encountered at CBA. It was the foundation of my work ethic for the rest of my schooling and professional career, and it is the school I feel the most allegiance to.

MY TIME AT CBA WAS incredibly memorable. I was surrounded by people with strong values, work ethic, and backgrounds who pushed me to be the best version of myself. I was also active in sports and clubs, which helped me to fit in quickly. Through my time there, I became much more responsible and had better integrity. Graduation day was a great time

as I was transitioning from student to peer with my teachers. If I could go back in time, I would experience my junior year when we won the state title outdoors in track and field. It was such a great team and a tight meet, and it was amazing to see everyone's contributions come together. I'm grateful for the time I spent at CBA and the memories I made there.

I GRADUATED FROM Christian Brothers Academy in 2003, so I attended it from 1999 to 2003. I had been involved with the school a few years prior to that, attending Marty Kenney's baseball camps. I played four years of baseball at CBA, starting as a freshman then on the junior varsity team and then playing varsity for two seasons. One of my favorite memories was the spring training trips we took down to Florida as a group. It was a great time to bond with my teammates and escape the cold New Jersey weather. CBA taught me a lot about team building and leadership. The class size was relatively small so most people knew each other, and the environment really fostered team building. The rigorous curriculum at CBA prepared me well for college and beyond. I still keep in touch with my guidance counselor, Jack Brennan, and we go out for lunch multiples times a year. My biology class in high school set me on the path to becoming a physician. I still go back to CBA semi-regularly to do alumni panels and lecture in the senior health classes. I think the greatest takeaway from my experience at CBA is the discipline I learned. The rigorous schedule taught me time management skills and how to be organized, which has helped me in all the other facets of my life.

MY TIME AT CHRISTIAN BROTHERS ACADEMY was a fantastic experience. My parents worked hard to make sure I could attend, even though we didn't have much money. I lived in a small town called Union Beach, and for the first couple of years, we were in the barn. I was involved in different clubs and activities, and I even ran my first mile on the horse track. It was a historic moment, even though I didn't actually run it, I completed it. I was very successful after I left CBA, and I was able to travel a lot for work. I even got to go back to CBA two years ago and donate money. I got to go around the school and even saw the lady who was in charge when I was there. It was a great thrill. I didn't keep in touch with my classmates over the years, but I did keep in touch with two of my best friends who also attended CBA. The only thing I'm missing is my 1964 school book, which I can't seem to find. I was one of the first early graduating classes at CBA, and it's grown so much since then. It was a great experience and gave me a good foundation to go forward.

I WAS PART OF SOMETHING SPECIAL WHEN I attended CBA. Not only was the academic rigor intense, but I was treated like a man and brought up that way. I was part of the first ever swim team at CBA in 1991, and it quickly rose to be an elite sports team. It was a source of pride for us who set it up and got it started. My family was instrumental in the creation of the swim team as I was a club swimmer. The annual trips abroad over Easter break with the brothers were some of my favorite high school experiences. I got close with a number of them, such as Brother Ralph, Brother Mike Dwyer, Brother Andrew, and Brother Anthony. We would travel to Europe and tour historic sites. The evening free time when we were allowed to go out in groups and explore on our own were some of the most memorable. CBA taught me how to learn, pay attention, and study. It made college less challenging academically, so I could focus on other aspects of the college experience. It was a great community and I'm glad I was part of it. I even told my son when he was making his decision to attend CBA, that it would be better to have tough academics now than when you are away from home. CBA was an important part of my life and I'm thankful for the experiences it gave me and now my son. M O M E N T

MY TIME AT CBA WAS A unique experience. I was part of the first graduating class, so I'm proud to say I was part of that. I was very active in the Intramural Sports Program, playing football, track, and wrestling in my junior year. I had a great group of friends from Rumson, New Jersey, and we stuck together. The school

1963

was founded by Dr. George, Charlie Henderson, and John Fleming, and it was originally a riding stable. I attended the 25th reunion and it was a great experience. I was also fortunate to have a successful career after graduating, working for 35 years without ever not working.

DOUGLAS HAMILTON “DOUG” MCELHINNEY III

MY TIME AT CBA WAS A truly unique experience. As the first class, there were only 145 of us all in one small building on an active horse farm. We had students from all over the county, and it was much different than a high school in Redbank or Shrewsbury. We were making history, and it was a great experience with good people and friends. We had a horse barn that was used for the track and cross country team, and we competed

with varsity teams throughout the area. We even had a freshman run where the first five back got to be on the cross country team. My greatest takeaway from my time there was the running as I hadn't done any before. It was a great environment to grow up in, surrounded by quality people and wonderful teachers. I was one of the first 145 there on the first day, and it was an experience I will never forget.
