Donna and Dave were living around the block from each other in Jersey City when they matched on Hinge.com in April 2019. After chatting on the dating app, they met for their first date at a little bar called PJ Ryan’s, where they immediately connected. “Dave was ambitious, intellectual, deep, and fun. We clicked about loving all the same music artists, food, and even values,” Donna reminisced. Dave, too, was instantly enamored by Donna’s beauty, felt comfortable and himself in her presence, and knew he had found something truly special.

On their three-year anniversary, the pair headed back to the bar where their relationship began, to reminisce on their favorite moments together. When they arrived back home, Dave talked about the life they would continue to build. It was at that moment he proposed with an oval-shaped engagement ring with a thin gold band.

Donna and Dave felt at home from the moment they walked into Nanina’s In The Park. They loved the perfect mix of elegance and coziness, but the staff is what ultimately sealed the deal for them. “I knew that if a simple visit was this memorable, there was no doubt they would do an exceptional job with the wedding,” Dave raved.

Prior to their wedding ceremony, the two decided to share an intimate moment together during a first look. Seeing Donna for the first time as she walked out in her wedding gown was Dave’s favorite memory of the day. She donned a mermaid-style gown, accessorized with simple pearl earrings, and carried a bouquet made of neutral-colored roses with pops of wintergreens. The groom sported a classic black tuxedo with a champagne vest and a sandstone boutonnière.

Following the ceremony officiated by a close friend, guests mingled and indulged during cocktail hour, before moving into the ballroom for dinner and dancing. The reception tables were decorated in floral arrangements repurposed from the ceremony for a cost-effective way to maintain consistency without breaking the bank. The centerpieces were accented with votive candles for a romantic touch, as well as white and gold linens and gold table numbers offered by the venue.

The newlyweds look forward to their upcoming honeymoon at Barceló Aruba, which they won through Contemporary Weddings Magazine’s honeymoon sweepstakes. “We will be traveling during our dating anniversary month, which holds a special place in our hearts because Aruba was our first ever vacation together as a couple.”

In a stroke of fate that could only be described as serendipitous, Melissa and Jon's love story followed a simple Facebook message. Little did they know, their paths had almost crossed numerous times before, with Melissa's sister dutifully checking badges and Jon stationed as a vigilant lifeguard on the very same street at Bay Head Beach. The pair went on their first date at the end of 2016, and from that moment on, they knew they had found something special. Bay Head Beach has been a significant location from the beginning, so it was only fitting Jon proposed (with their dog, Finn, as well as Melissa’s sister, brother-in-law, and nephew present) in a full-circle moment at the location that brought them together.

Hotel LBI set the scene for Melissa and Jon’s September 8, 2023 wedding. “The venue had everything we were looking for. It was both beachy and modern, and the ballroom was gorgeous with high vaulted ceilings. I was sold just from stepping in and seeing the venue, but once we met with the staff, we knew we were in great hands. The hotel was an added convenience,” Melissa noted.

Melissa tried on 20-plus gowns until she found the boho-style gown of her dreams. She donned a form-fitted dress designed by Essence of Australia, with a low-cut back embellished with buttons and intricate beading and lace detailing that stood out with a rum-colored underlay. A gold diamond tennis bracelet and gold teardrop stone earrings completed her wedding day look. Jon sported a navy-blue tuxedo with white damask tie and matching pocket square, brown dress shoes, and custom navy socks with artwork of their dog, Finn, on them.

To spend more time with their guests, Melissa and Jon shared a private first look before Nicole Klym Photography captured formal portraits on property at Hotel LBI and at 9th Street beach. The pair even made sure to include their beloved dog in portraits as it was important for him to be included in their big day. “We loved working with Nicole! She understood our vision while also inserting her knowledge and suggestions. She also had a lot of experience in the LBI area,” the couple raved.

The ceremony was held inside in front of the fireplace, which made for a really nice backdrop without having to bring in a lot of décor. Two small floral arrangements and candles decorated the mantel, while lanterns lined the aisle. Melissa’s cousin, Patrick officiated the ceremony, making their nuptials even more personal and a meaningful part of their wedding day.

After Melissa and Jon recessed down the aisle, they stepped away for a private cocktail hour to bask in their newlywed status before joining their guests. “It was nice to have a quiet moment together to take it all in,” they reminisced. Guests found their tables through an acrylic seating chart, made by a close friend, that said, “And at every table, I’ll save you a seat,” a nod to Melissa’s love for Taylor Swift. Greenery garlands with florals intertwined, along with pillar candles at staggering heights for visual interest, topped the farmhousestyle tables. Wood table numbers and neutral napkins completed the tablescapes.

Following the wedding, Melissa and Jon escaped to Oahu and Kauai in Hawaii for a romantic honeymoon. They hiked Waimea Valley, visited Waimea Canyon, snorkeled, and took a boat to the Napali Coast through Blue Dolphin Charters. Melissa’s favorite thing they did, though, was taking a shelter dog out for the day through the Kauai Humane Society’s Field Trip program for shelter dogs. The two are currently enjoying being newlyweds, sharing date nights, and looking forward to planning upcoming vacations.

Larissa's serendipitous encounter with Chris at the old Cadillac Cantina marked the beginning of their love story. As the clock neared midnight, Chris caught Larissa’s eye from across the bar and extended a round of green tea shots for Larissa and her friend. As the night progressed, they engaged in effortless conversation, and despite exchanging phone numbers, Chris decided to leave the bar. Sensing the connection between the two, Larissa’s perceptive friend texted Chris urging him to return, prompting a swift and decisive move. Within minutes, Chris reappeared and joined Larissa on the dance floor, setting the stage for hundreds of brunch and dinner dates to follow.

Although Chris hadn’t initially planned to pop the question on April 14, 2022, the ring was nestled in his car, waiting for the right moment. Opting for a casual evening, Larissa and Chris headed to a favorite local spot, choosing the comfort of a familiar place over cooking at home. Seated at the bar, they immersed themselves in conversation while watching the Yankee game. As the night unfolded, they decided to take a short drive home, passing by their favorite park. Chris, feeling a surge of nerves, suggested a walk to enjoy the skyline view. Chris, fidgeting with his car keys, seized the perfect moment when Larissa, sensing his unease, asked if he was okay. With emotions running high, Chris dropped to one knee and proposed. They celebrated by sharing the good news with family and friends and soaking in this special moment.

On December 10, 2022, Michael planned a night out in the city for them to see the Rockefeller Christmas tree and to have dinner. Little did Alexandra know it would be a night that would forever change their lives. They arrived at Veranda Soho and ended up outside, leading them to a path with flowers, candles, and pictures of the couple. It was at that moment Michael got down on one knee and asked Alexandra to marry him. “We are looking forward to our wedding in Florida with close friends and family,” Alexandra shared.

Danielle and John grew up in the same town, but never crossed paths until September of 2017 while at a local pub. As fate would have it, they happened to be in the same place at the right time and instantly connected. On December 11, 2022, Danielle received a call from John’s sister, asking if she’d like to look at puppies before their mother’s birthday dinner. Little did Danielle know, this seemingly out-of-the-ordinary outing would be the beginning of her and John’s next chapter.

As they entered the barn that supposedly housed the puppies, Danielle was guided down a path of rose petals to where John stood, surrounded by a pallet adorned with cherished photos and a luminous sign declaring “Marry Me.” Shocked and elated, Danielle found herself in the middle of a carefully orchestrated proposal. John even arranged for a photographer to capture the entire moment. Following a resounding "YES," the engaged couple celebrated with a celebratory engagement dinner, a secret joyfully shared by both their families. “It was the best surprise and one of the happiest days of our lives together so far!”

Daniela & George THE VENETIAN GARFIELD, NJ

Daniela and George met on January 3, 2020. Daniela thought George was very charming and fun to talk to and knew early on–only about a month into their relationship– that she had found her person. “He was very thoughtful. What drew me to him was his certainty about us,” she shared. Daniela, too, made a great first impression on George, who particularly liked how good she made him feel. Their love story took a magical turn when George decided to propose during a romantic vacation in the Turks and Caicos. The engagement unfolded during sunset in the middle of a beach photoshoot. Surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the island, George asked Daniela to marry him.

When it came time to choose their ceremony and reception locations, the couple made sure their DJ of choice was available before securing the date. Lucky for them, October 15, 2023 was available between the church, venue, and entertainment vendors. The couple decided to stick to tradition and opted to see each other for the first time during the ceremony. Daniela walked down the aisle of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church wearing the first dress she tried on. The Eve of Milady gown featured a mermaid silhouette and long train, which she accessorized with earrings and a headpiece from Bridal Styles Boutique.

Following the traditional ceremony, the newlyweds and guests headed to The Venetian to celebrate. “My cousin got married there in 2010. I was a bridesmaid, and the wedding was unforgettable. The Venetian really knows how to throw a good party. Since then, I told myself I’d be getting married there one day,” Daniela reminisced.

Daniela and George shared their first dance to an Italian classic, “I Belong to You” by Eros Ramazzotti and Anastacia. Joe Ziza played a variety of music, including oldies that had guests on the dance floor all night. “He’s so great at entertaining and interacting with the crowd,” the couple raved. At the end of the night, guests were thanked for being a part of the couple’s wedding day with an espresso cup set imported from Italy. When asked if the newlyweds had any advice for couples planning their wedding, Daniela said, “Don’t sweat the small stuff and don’t worry about anyone’s opinions.” George added, “Trust your gut and make decisions based on what’s important to you and your partner. On the wedding day, take it all in and be present.”

Stephanie & Don

Stephanie and Don met in the late fall of 2017 in Hoboken, New Jersey. Stephanie found Don to be handsome and thought she’d only have one date with him, but little did she know it would be the beginning of a journey that would eventually lead them to marriage. Over the years, the two always joked about when she was going to “receive her sparkle.” To Stephanie’s surprise, she finally got her wish as Don got down on one knee during an LBI sunset and proposed with a simple and timeless solitaire-style engagement ring with an oval stone and gold band.

With perfect weather, refreshing breezes, and low crowds, a local summer September wedding made perfect sense for Stephanie and Don. “LBI holds a special place in our hearts because it’s where we started our forever, it’s where he proposed, and we knew right away it was the place we wanted to get married! We always loved watching the sunset and going on evening bike rides and trying new restaurants; it’s always felt like our second home.”

It was Stephanie’s dream since she was a little girl to be married in church, and she decided to stick with tradition.

“The look on Don’s face of seeing me walk down the aisle is something I will always cherish,” Stephanie reminisced. Following their church ceremony, guests tossed white rose petals as the newlyweds exited the church and then headed to Brant Beach Yacht Club to celebrate. They chose the venue for the picturesque views of the bay, and Stephanie and Don were easily able to envision guests enjoying sunset on the wraparound porch during cocktail hour. Additionally, the staff was accommodating and catered to their every request.

On the day of the wedding, Jordyn Kasey Photography was on scene capturing the day’s events on camera. Jordyn’s photography skills and upbeat personality paired perfectly with Stephanie and Don’s vision of classic and elegant meets light and airy photography. Photos were taken at church, on the beach in Beach Haven, on the bay, and at Brant Beach Yacht Club.

Following dinner, Stephanie changed out of her Pronovias Dominique gown and put on a Revolve jumpsuit for the rest of the evening, while Don wore flip-flops for the reception. At the end of the night, guests were sent home with fun memories and Country Kettle Fudge—a staple on the island since 1955. When asked if there was something they know now they wish they were aware of during wedding planning, they shared, “The little problems won’t matter on the big day. Just try your best to enjoy everything and take your time.”

Erin and Michael met while attending Towson University. Although the two vaguely knew each other, it wasn’t until they ran into each other while at a bar in Hoboken that their love story began. A few days later they went out to dinner and have been inseparable ever since. The morning of October 23, 2021, Erin had failed her ultrasound registry exam and was completely crushed. She even found herself fighting back tears in the Uber as she and Michael were heading to the waterfront. To Erin’s surprise, what began as one of her lowest of days immediately turned to one of her best when Michael got down on one knee and proposed. To make the day even more memorable, Michael hired a photographer to capture the proposal on camera and had both of their families waiting back at their apartment to celebrate.

The Shadowbrook was the first venue Erin and Michael visited, and although they toured other locations, the other facilities just fell short for them. “The grounds were breathtaking with a covered pavilion, so you never had to worry about weather,” Erin shared. The staff, too, made them feel like family and also ensured the wedding day would be perfect.

Erin and Michael originally did not want to see each other prior to the ceremony, but it was important to them to be present and enjoy the cocktail hour, reception, and every moment of the day without worrying about photos. “Our first look was an emotional moment for us, and it really helped get the jitters out before the ceremony. We exchanged vows alone so that we were able to cherish those words and promises to each other without any distractions,” they reminisced.

Upon walking into the Shadowbrook, guests were greeted with a custom welcome sign adorned with florals before being escorted to the ceremony. White rose petals lined the ceremony aisle that led to a handcrafted backdrop made of greenery and white flowers. Erin and her father made their entrance to the instrumental version of “You Are the Reason” by Calum Scott, and while Erin was incredibly nervous for the ceremony leading up to her wedding day, she unexpectedly felt at ease holding Mike’s hands and standing together surrounded by the love of their family and friends.

Erin and Michael’s first dance to “Beautiful Crazy” by Luke Combs was unrehearsed and completely natural. “We just sang it to each other and soaked up that special moment because we always said when we get married, this would be our song.” The two also shared traditional dances with their parents, and Erin danced with her stepfather, who has been a big part of her life for over 20 years. When guests weren’t dancing to a mix of oldies, current hits, country, and house with the help of SCE Event Group, family and friends were having fun with the snapshot photo booth. The couple ordered large cutout props of their golden retriever Henry’s head for people to take photos with that unexpectedly ended up being paraded around the ballroom the entire night.

To close out an unforgettable wedding, Jason Jani asked family and friends to form a circle around the couple, and everyone shared one final song to “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen. As for the bride’s best advice for couples planning their wedding? “This day is about the two of you. No one else.”

Corinne and Andrew met in May of 2015 during a mini-trip abroad their junior year of attending Loyola University. The pair had different groups of friends the first three years of college and never crossed paths. But on the first night of their trip in Munich, Germany, Andrew accidentally bumped into Corinne while he was dancing, which prompted her to drop her phone, shattering the screen. “We spent the next ten days in three different countries with Andrew profusely apologizing and offering to buy me a new phone,” Corinne shared. Little did they realize at the time, this marked the beginning of an exciting adventure that would eventually lead Andrew to propose to Corinne in the middle of a vineyard in Napa, California.

Guests were invited to the nuptials with simple letterpress invitations incorporating a blush satin ribbon. “My mom does calligraphy, so we had her address the envelopes,” Corinne mentioned. Vintage stamps curated from various Etsy shops added a special touch to each envelope.

On the wedding day, Corinne got ready with her bridal party. Her 12 bridesmaids wore matching blush-pink striped pajama sets, while the bride stood out in a white sleeveless number with Swiss dot texture. Since the bride’s gown featured a low-cut back, she decided on a classic low bun with a few pieces framing her face to show off her figure. The form-fitted gown also featured a square neckline and detachable plisse organza ruffle sleeves. “I went to two boutiques in the city. I tried on five dresses at the first one and thought I found the one, but figured I should still go to the second appointment. Turned out, when we left the boutique, I saw pictures of myself in the gown and did not like the way it looked at all. So, to L’Fay Bridal we went. My gown was the third one I tried on, and I absolutely loved it. I didn’t want to take it off!” Corinne reminisced.

She accessorized with a cathedral-length veil adorned with petals, Loeffler Randall shoes (something blue), diamond stud earrings, rose gold bracelet, and a claddagh ring (borrowed from her grandmother). Corinne’s grandmother also gifted her a handkerchief that belonged to her great-grandmother, which served as her something old and was incorporated into flat lay detail photos.

Andrew sported a classic and custom black tuxedo from Suit Supply. He wore a black bow tie, black velvet loafers, and a watch with a black leather band. He later changed into a white dinner jacket from The Black Tux for the reception.

To allow for a seamless transition into the rest of the evening, Corinne and Andrew decided to have their ceremony on-site at The Ryland Inn. “We crossed our fingers for no rain so that we could stick to our plan for an outdoor ceremony and ended up with a perfect day!” White chairs flanked the rose-petal-lined aisle, while a wood arch decorated in asymmetrical blush-hued florals created a romantic backdrop for their nuptials officiated by Father Joseph Ciccone.

Following the ceremony, guests headed to cocktail hour and then later found their reception tables with the help of a large Anthropologie mirror turned into a seating chart. Reception tables were topped in all-white linens with either a tall or low floral arrangement. Each tablescape was accented with romantic candlelight and personalized table numbers that included photos of Corinne and Andrew at that particular age. “It was so fun to go through our childhood photos together,” they mentioned. The newlyweds also decided on a head table with their immediate families. The farm-style table had a cheesecloth runner down the center, as well as lush florals and taper candles. The wood arch was repurposed from the ceremony and was displayed behind Corinne and Andrew’s chairs. Greenery and florals draped the ballroom’s chandeliers to create visual interest over the dance floor.

Seeing the day unfold was Corinne and Andrew’s favorite part of wedding planning. While it was hard to envision how everything was going to turn out, they couldn’t have been happier when they walked into the ballroom for the room reveal. “Every detail looked absolutely perfect, and the night unfolded seamlessly.”

Angela and Bobby lived next door to each other and shared a bond that seemed to transcend time itself. Their friendship was a canvas painted with memories, but as they grew older, life directed them on separate paths. Little did they know fate would reunite them nearly 17 years in the making. When the racks had fallen in the BelFiore Bridal Boutique store, Angela’s mom suggested she reach out to Bobby. “The day he walked up to my store, I knew that was it,” Angela shared. Funny enough, Bobby left her shop that day thinking to himself that he went to a bridal shop and would be leaving with a bride.

Angela, a wedding planner renowned for her meticulous attention to detail, isn’t one to be caught off guard. Bobby even mentioned Angela is always five steps ahead, making it nearly impossible to surprise her. “I had to call in our friends to help trick her,” Bobby shared. Jen, who is a wedding photographer, asked if she could use Angela’s store for a wedding vendor meeting. Little did Angela know Jen was going to spend the day helping Bobby to decorate the store with pictures, candles, and childhood memorabilia. As Angela pulled up to her store and lugged a case of toilet paper from her car, she was shocked when Bobby dropped to one knee upon her arrival. Bobby’s proposal, crafted with love and hidden beneath the guise of business, was a testament to their journey together. Now, every time Angela steps into her store, she is greeted with memories of helping brides find their dream gown, but also the sweet reminder of her very own happily ever after.

Angela, who has seen her fair share of venues, knew she wanted something different from your standard banquet facility. “It was important for us to get married at Bobby’s family home,” she confessed. “He would always say that it was his happy place. My first time there, I knew the exact feeling he was talking about.” There was no need for deliberation as they both knew they would exchange vows amidst the familiar warmth of Bobby’s cherished family home. Family and friends got a glimpse of the property upon receiving a custom save the date designed by Lace and Belle. The letterpress card featured an illustration of the home. Angela tied a peach silk ribbon embellished with a tassel and included a small engagement photo for their first stationery piece.

The property, which overlooks the water, was used to its full capacity, starting with the ceremony space. “We wanted the feel of a small chapel, but being outside, it is so hard to feel that intimate space,” Angela mentioned. Bobby (a contractor by trade) built three 15-foot arches that lined the aisle. Tall, asymmetrical florals decorated the arch they stood in front of, while the reeds and waterfront view provided a picturesque backdrop. After the couple shared their first kiss and were announced as newlyweds, guests made their way to the pool deck for cocktail hour.

Instead of traditional escort cards, Angela and Bobby built a statement piece for seating arrangements. The display provided a pair of sunglasses for every guest, along with wooden tags that were engraved with their name and table number. The display featured a mirror for family and friends to check themselves out, along with the phrase “Fancy seeing you here; find your seat, grab some shades.”

Family-style dinner and dancing were held under a tent provided by Sperry Tents Hamptons on the far side of the property by the dock surrounded by reeds. Long farmhouse tables were decorated in crisp white linens lined with light pink cheesecloth runners, peach candles, and lush compote bowls filled with textured florals in peach, cream, and pink hues. Custom bar signs, hanging rattan chandeliers, a cut out of their dog, Barry, illustrated by Lace and Belle, and a temporary tattoo bar were just a few other reception highlights, as well as the pair exiting the reception on a Jet Ski.

Angela shared some advice for couples who are currently planning their wedding. “Enjoy everything you do. The time flies, so be present. Take a step back with your partner and soak it in.” Bobby added, “This is more for the guys, but try to get into it. It will make your partner so happy that you’re involved and so rewarding to make decisions together.”
