Page 1

1. Go to www.khanacademy.org Click on the Login button

2. Click on the large Google button before you try to login. You already have an account set up through MSA Google Apps. We set this up for you.

ALWAYS CLICK ON THE GOOGLE ICON TO LOGIN.

3. Enter your Mill Springs email address, then the password MSAsummer2012. This password is the same for everyone this summer,

and please do not try to change it.

pbarkley@millsprings.org MSAsummer2012

The password will e go in as ********

4. If everything was typed correctly, you will have to enter the password again, along with

a “captcha”, or group of distorted letters. This will be different for everyone.

5.

Assuming you get through all that, you come to a screen asking for permission to link Khan Academy with your Google Apps account. Please check the box to remember the approval for thirty days, and then click on the Allow button.

6.

Then you will get one of two screens asking you to agree to the terms of Google accounts, either a short one where you just accept and continue:

Or a much longer page with another captcha to decipher:

7.

Finally you are logged into Khan Academy. A pop will ask you if you would like a tour or are ready to start. Generally just click “No thanks”.

8.

Now, make sure you have the appropriate Math Packet directions form, which can be found by going to www.millsprings.org/students and clicking on your school to the left of the screen. With the directions, back at Khan

Academy, you want to enter your “coaches” or Math Teachers, so you get credit for your work. Enter the email address as written on your Math Packet.

9.

Now you are ready to begin! Choosing from the list of topics on your Math Packet, begin typing the topic into the search field. A choice of topics will drop down as you type. When you see the one you want, click on it.

10.

At your topic, either click on the arrow to watch a short video on the topic…

11.

Or go right to the first question by clicking on the “Practice the Concept” button.

If you cannot answer, watch some of these videos.

12.

When finished with the topic, click on your username at the top right of the

screen. 13. You will be taken back to your profile page, where the buttons on the left will show you your progress in the topics. There is no easy way that adds up all the problems you have completed, so I think you should keep a count in a notebook or in a word document.

That’s it! Now it is time to start working on your Math. If you would rather a video of this information, there is one at www.millsprings.org/students .
